Hopelessly Homeless - BnS Challenge

The story starts here or rather a year before when Tess Barrett's father kicks her out with only some clothes in her backpack and $300 simoleans in her wallet. To say that he was furious she did not plan to follow in his footsteps was probably the understatement of the year.

Luckily for Tess, her grandmother had left her a small, and I do mean small quite literally, plot of land that was more sand than grass.

Though the plot was nothing more than an address right now, the view was awesome. Here she could dream.

Here she could do as she wished.

She didn't have any real wishes for the moment other than survival.

So she harvested all the plants in a kind old gentleman's garden.

Then she caught a cab to the salon.

Here she decided to make her first wish come true. She asked for a job as a stylist.

With the major hurdles of place to stay and job taken care of, Tess continued to work on gathering more food.

She found another small garden and helped herself once again to all it had to offer.

Then she caught a cab to the gym.

Here she was able to shower...

and grab a bite to eat.

She also watched some television...

which she found informative and entertaining.

Then, she found yet another small garden area...

where she was tempted to look for any useful scraps.

Oh, yes! She found an old desk and a clock that still worked when she dug a little deeper.

Then it was back to the gym to clean up.

She sampled her fresh produce...

and texted her new co-worker...

But the whole homeless situation and dumpster diving were not sitting well with her.

Maybe tomorrow would be better.

Day 2 highlights:
Tess finds some uncommon seeds at the park.

Some sims dumped stuff on her empty lot when she wasn't there.

She paid her $8 simolean bill.

She found some expensive Sweet William flowers...

And a hamburger someone left unattended.

Both the flowers and the hamburger made her smile.

Selling the flowers meant she had enough to get a sketch pad...

and a street art kit.

BUT... that wasn't the best decision.

Ooops!

Tess decided to make sand paintings then.

Her second night, she went to the salon to sleep, so she'd already be at work early.

Did you enjoy your rest?

On day three, Tess made enough money to afford a class in Charisma, which would help her greatly with her clientele.

Then she found Cosmos in the park

and had enough to attend a music class as well.

She did dive in the dumpster behind the theatre, but she didn't find much.

She was so tired, she rolled out her sleeping bag right there.

She woke up while it was still dark and headed to the gym for a shower.

Tess's days were slipping into a pattern. She'd catch a meal at the gym before work.

Another's day work meant she could finally afford a guitar.

But, her days were long, and she was ready to crash at the gym again.

She wanted to harvest all the fruit while the weather was still nice.

And she loved picking fresh flowers to sell.

She liked sleeping at the gym, hidden relatively in the bathroom.

She might sleep in and catch lunch in the gym on a day off.

Days passed quickly. One day she met a handsome sim at the salon and the attraction went both ways.

She spent a lot of time at the park where she'd grab a free burger with great company.

Sometimes other sims would poke fun of her sleeping in the gym.

But mostly she enjoyed her stays there.

She even gave back by fixing broken plumbing.

Do you know what day it is? Does it matter? It's all the same.

Tess loved hanging out in the park where she could offer makeovers.

She also went to the beach and caught butterflies.

She wandered all over looking for unique gemstones.

She harvested freely wherever and whatever she could.

While doing a make-over, she might notice a flower or rock nearby.

She'd grab it on her way out.

Tess spent long hours at the salon and was making good money.

But it was always way easier to gather flowers.

Is anything new happening in Tess's life?

She offered makeovers everywhere and was surprised to get invited to a party.

Fortunately she could dress up in her old cheerleading outfit.

And she got to enjoy her favorite salad at the party.

She was getting serious with her great kisser of a boyfriend.

She decided to stake her claim on him, even if it would be a long engagement.

Tell me more, more, more!

Tess found that performance parks were great places to find lots of clients.

They were also great places for free food.

Tess was invited to another party and fortunately had a great dress she could wear.

She enjoyed the party and enjoyed meeting prospective clients.

And then... one day off she went in search of rocks.

She travelled all over town and went to old stone gathering.

She also got the opportunity to do street art without fear of being arrested.

When she checked on her property, she found some vandals had been by.

She left them a message in the snow.

Half way through a year of Tess's life...

She enjoyed watching her clients change from everyday ho hum

to something that fit them much better.

She was still grabbing free food at the gym

And making over everyone in sight.

She was a driven sim, and if the salon wasn't yet open, she might sketch at the consignment store.

Spring came and there were Easter eggs to hunt in the park...

As well as rocks to collect...

And, of course, flowers to gather.

Tess was hoping to start art school soon... just a few more clients and she'd be able to afford it.

She even got a call for an engagement formal. Her fiance was nervous about all the upcoming parties.

She was still sleeping in the gym most nights, though it often saw a lot of traffic.

She stopped by the consignment store a few times, but it never offered her a camera.

Her girlfriends kept trying to convince her that she needed a bachlorette party, but she was saving all her money.

They did have a small party at her fiance's place, and she was welcome to spend the night.

She did sleep over, but she was so tired that she went to sleep before the party was over.

A breakfast of left-over hot dogs the next day suited her just fine.

Tess would continue to do make-overs now and then...

but this was the last night she'd be sleeping at the gym.

She'd been on her own for a full year now and saved up 65,000 for a home and tuition to art school.
