I'm posting on the forums because I think I've tried absolutely every option to fix this. This week my game started lagging really bad. It was totally random and the only thing I did between the game running perfectly fine and it running unbearably, was turn off my computer and turn it back on. Now side note, this has happened to me once before. My game started running really slow for no reason late last year (I think this was immediately after an update though) and the only thing that fixed it was installing the Get to Work and Get Together expansion packs late December. For the issues I'm having now, I have probably tried every single option possible to fix it. I've run it without mods, had the game generate a new sims 4 folder, tried running with the tray, saves, mods, and screenshots folders empty, tried repairing the game, tried running it offline, tried unticking a few online features everyone recommended, the list goes on and on... Yesterday I bought new additions to the game (Outdoor Retreat, Romantic Garden Stuff, and Movie Hangout Stuff) and installed them thinking maybe it would fix the game like last time. Sadly this didn't work at all
I've tried every option multiple times, before and after installing the new stuff. I even went so far as to completely uninstall Sims 4 and everything linked to it and reinstall it. Nothing has worked. I've been trying to fix this for 2 days nonstop and its really starting to feel hopeless. I'm open to the idea that it may be something outside of my game causing it, but I don't have any evidence pointing to anything. My drivers are updated (I've checked at least 5 times throughout this whole fiasco) and sims 4 is running the right graphics card or whatever. I'm not all that tech-savy but I think I can get by pretty well. If anyone were to help me out, I would really really appreciate it.
The lag I mentioned consists of the game moving perfectly fine for about five seconds, give or take, and running really slow for about the same amount of time. This goes on forever, in new saves, old saves, basically everywhere without fail. Please help me

I am sorry that you are having this issue.
There are a few things to try to do. You may have already done them but I will post in case you haven't.
Simmers have found that doing the following has helped.
Try switching back to 32 bit mode and see if that helps.
Right click on The Sims 4 tile in Origin.
Select “Game Properties”
Change the “When launching this Game” setting to “The Sims 4 32-bit”
If you are playing on a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, do what is in this thread.
http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/863606/laptop-users-update-your-card-assignment-for-64bit#latest
Try lowering your graphics settings and/or the screen resolution and see if that helps the issue.
If after doing all the above things the issue still continues, could you please post your DxDiag info here. It will take multiple posts.
To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field
Click OK
Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
Then copy and paste the information from where you saved it, to here in this thread.

The info is long and will take multiple posts but that is okay. Keep posting the information in a number of posts.
If you prefer not to do that you could upload the information text in a file to a file sharing site and post the link to the file here in this thread.

Just to be sure, you have already assigned the ts4_x64.exe to your Nvidia control panel, right?
You have probably tried doing that but just in case you haven't , try doing that.

I know that you have probably already done this, but in case you haven't, try shutting down your computer completely again then restart the computer again and see if it helps the issue.

Cuz it sounds like you might be overloading your processor or RAM with all that CC and that mod.
Maybe you can try and open task manager while you have the game on and then see how much of RAM it uses.
For me, it runs on 2.2% on fullscreen but 20% on windowed fullscreen and 15.3% on windowed. My game plays the best on fullscreen.
In windowed mode:
In windowed fullscreen:
In fullscreen:
When I close sims 4:
Only difference I've noticed is that when I enter windowed fullscreen, it runs smoothly for about 20 seconds and then goes back to normal. Also windowed mode runs exactly the same as fullscreen mode now
I'm gonna try taking out my mods again just in case it does something different this time
Yeah, try removing your mods/CC again and try with a new game.
Also, try disabling Origin in-game. Open Origin and go under "Origin">"Application settings">"Origin in-game".

And thank you guys so much for helping me! I honestly felt so lost trying to fix it on my own but now that I have people giving me feedback it feels like all hope isn't lost, even if I haven't managed to fix it yet
Edit: Forgot to mention that I restarted my laptop before I removed the mods and started up the game.
2nd Edit: I just didn't see your comment DeKay so I disabled origin in game again and went back in without adding back the mods and still no difference. Lasts about 7 seconds between the lagging now unless I'm moving the camera a lot. (this was in windowed fullscreen which is how I'm probably gonna play the game permanently from now on)

Can you try to lower your sims details settings to high instead of very high and see if that helps? If that doesn't work, tick laptop mode and and restart your game and see if it helps. I need to know if it is a game issue or a specs issue. If you still get the same kind of lag on laptop mode, it might the game issue and you might have to delete the the game application (C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4(.exe) and TS4_x64.exe), then delete Origin cache folders, reinstall Origin again and then go to Origin and click on TS4 box art and click download.
Do backup your saves, tray, and mods folder before you do this.

I have a 770m, i7, 16 gb ram and the game runs horrible on my laptop . I have serious FPS drops and cpu heat issues from patches. Not sure if the game patches or origin are causing the problems but I have reinstalled the game and origin several times. We have run several tests and the game has issues EA has to fix. My game had always been vanilla with only four sims on a smaller lot with base game and OR installed . I gave up because I could not find a fix. This is the only game that runs plum on my laptop. Sims 3 runs fine
Have you tested other games to see how they run?
