The sims in TS3 have NO personalities, despite the fact that every sim has unique traits.
it's ironic, isn't it?
even the sims 2 seasons adds a "personality" to the environment with weather.
For real. The Sims 2 has what, 10 personality traits, with each sim being inclined towards only half of them? And yet TS2 sims are much more diverse than TS3 sims. I think it's because of the sheer fact that there is just so much more to do in TS2 than TS3.
The HAIR, its awful. I mean the hair in Sims 2 was better but not great but they really took a step backwards. Its almost like I expected the hair texture to get better, and now it looks like amatuers are taking a try at it...bleh..also, I agree with the every sim looks chubby in the face as well. I feel like all my sims are merging into on single look
Theres no way to get the paparazzi off your porch. (Cant even call the cops)...well the only real way is to build a big ugly gate around your property and even then they hang outside the gate.
You cant know a lot of people without being labeled a celebrity.
Everytime your getting good on the charisma side, they throw in a rumor to get everyone to snub you.
Old people invite you to their parties to die.
It takes forever to load the textures to build. Takes forever to build. (this use to be my favorite thing to do)
Can't move your sims to a different neighborhood. Can send your kids off to boarding school but you miss the university aspect of it all.
The bugs...(but you have to kind of expect them)
The lack of benefits from purchasing a stuff or expansion pack. The only one that gave you unique gamplay was world adventures...
I've been playing since the 1st release of The Sims, and there's always going to be ups and downs. But I expected more out of the Sims 3 series, a big step up from Sims 2 at least. Sometimes I rather play Sims 2 than 3.
Edit: Wait, I think I've got it. The sims in TS3 have NO personalities, despite the fact that every sim has unique traits.
This. I feel the same way, these traits don't create sims personality they just depend on how quick sim will finish the skill or job task. Every single sim communicate in same way,if I want my sim to be friends with the sim over there he will while in sims 2 it depends on sim personality.
-Really bad hairstyles. Is it me, or are they really lacking in ethnic background. I want curly hairstyles.
-Traveling to lots. It's always complicated to keep sims going out together and going home together. I can't seem to take my child/toddler with me when I go out with a group.
-Why can't you swim in the ocean, what's the point of the beach?
-It's minor, but I'd like to bathe my toddler.
-If I'm at a friends house and it's past curfew, I shouldn't be made to stop what I'm doing and be escorted home. >.<
-Clothes options that are more up to date.
-Apparently sims are in the way, and one sim just stomps their feet and and grumbles the entire time, when there are many ways to get around.
-When my sim ages up all their hair and clothes change into some ghastly ugly s$!#
-There is always sims in the town that show they're starving or tired but just continue to stand or sit around.
-Better stair options.
-Toddlers could communicate with adults.
-Task completed in less sim hours.
-Better jobs
-More town options, ie. Coffee shops, arcades, clothing stores, clubs/bars.
-Better or more art/paintings.
There is much more I could say about what I bugs me, but I can't think of them all at the moment. I have to say, The Simss 3 is fun, has a lot of new things about the game that are terrific, and it also looks great. However, I honestly like The Sims 2 better. It seems now, it's all about making money and not caring about the game play for the buyer. :c
Why are there no hairstyles with afro textures available? I shouldn't have to search for hours on custom content sites to find ways to make a sim actually look like me or people I know. :?
I would love it if a collection of afro hairstyles were made available for free in the store. Why should I have to pay extra to make realistic black sims with natural hair? Just sayin'.
I totally agree!!! I feel they are lacking on the ethnic background expression. I want curly hairstyles.
The monetisation aspect. I'm happy to buy stuff packs or expansions, but I hate the piecemeal selling off of bits here and there. If you look at how much that really costs, overall it's a heck of a lot more expensive. And yeah, sure, it makes EA more money, but it's verging on rip-off territory as fars as customers are concerned.
I've finally reached the point with this franchise that I am unwilling to spend any more money on it. I'm still going to play the games I've got, I guess, since I already played for them (though I don't know how much longer I'll do that for) but I refuse to give EA another penny of mine unless the game starts to look more like the first two games, and less like a money grab.
It's a shame. I loved the first game, and the second game was even better. But this... it's kinda tainting all the memories I have from playing the first two games. I was bought Generations for Christmas, so I feel I owe it to the person who bought it for me to play it, but I load up the game and...I just don't really enjoy it any more. It's too much about buying sets, and less about making a fun game.

Store in the game???
To many patches.
More than this and more than 1 sorry
It really amazes me how many people in these forums I've seen echo the same sentiments over and over again: that they would rather play TS2 than TS3, that the game is not as good, and that it seems to be increasingly less like the lovable "people simulator" it once was and increasingly like more of a cash grab.
It really makes me wonder what the future of this franchise is going to be like...

There are a few things I could name about the game that I don't like. One of them being that you have very limited items in the create-a-sim mode, the build mode and the buy mode. I also don't like the fact that in the sims 2 you could create your own neighborhoods but in the sims 3 you can't it's like they back tracked to the first game on that. The last thing I don't really like is that everywhere I go for custume contents all say base game compatible but when I go to install something the game gives me an error saying I don't have the right expansion or stuff pack.
My complaint is that, It freezes, ALOT. I litteraly have to save every 5 minutes so i dont lose everything. Anyone have any idea why it does this?

Actually you can create your own neighborhood, download the Create a World tool.

ROFL! My sims do this too, drives me nuts. :P
I agree with this one.
I hate bothers me is that you cannot see what they do inside community lots like restaurants or the book stores!
Also, LAGGING!!!!

Why do YOU guys play the game if I may ask?
I play the game as a giant what-if scenario. What if I had 50k and lived in some ghost town? :P

Gameplay is very quickly boring ! (for me anyway)
