From setting fires everyday whilst level 6 cooking and over $3000 cooker (could have bought a new house but had to replace the damages) to being randomly mean to others. It's really not fun to play anymore

Agreed. The patches for the last couple of years have broken more than they have fixed. Good thing my main TS 4 stops with DU and doesn't have Seasons. And is offline.

Oh I'm so glad to see it's not just me with the fire. It's got to be a recent glitch, right? I was playing maybe a week or two ago and it wasn't happening, and now every sim regardless of cooking skill or what they're using to cook is setting the kitchen on fire. It's infuriating, especially since the sim I'm playing right is the first one I've ever bothered to teach gourmet cooking to.

I recently got so fed up with the bugs and glitches, I'm giving up on the Sims 4 for the time being. I agree with you, it is just too frustrating to play.
After playing for 30 hours over the past 2 weeks, I have a long list of bugs.

-sims' food getting stuck in the oven because my sim gets distracted while cooking, and then they can't remove it.

-sims with no evil or mean trait being unkind to each other

-sims napping on couches rather than sleeping on beds

-sims not using the sink in the bathroom they are using

    -sims cannot cut wedding cake.

-Garden plants devolving to dirt piles, still in 2022 :(

-High school Grading System is broken

-Horrible random frame-rate drops and lagging

    -Loyal trait is broken

    -Toddler interactions not working

    -Occasional freezing and crashing

I have a decent gaming computer, and I'm pretty diligent about updating my mods, so it shouldn't be this terrible. I feel like I'm constantly searching for bug fixes for this game on google.

This December update better fix a lot of bugs. The game is in an abysmal state, and I'm struggling to enjoy the game whilst also dealing with all of the bugs.

I started playing the game much less after the wants and fears update... my sims kept constantly getting fears, I couldn't even focus on playing one sim because then the other sims in that household felt ignored.

And I haven't updated my game since September either because I heard about sims being constantly mean to each other after the October update (loyal trait patch), which will hopefully be fixed in December so I can at least update my game and go online on the gallery.

And I don't really feel like building either because build mode is lagging so much (which can probably be improved by starting a new save but I don't want to do that). Other than that, the game runs fine but High School Years felt so incredibly lackluster that I have started playing other games instead...

I still boot up the game, but I feel less motivated to play it. Especially if I have to hope that modders fixes bugs that never seem to be fixed, I recently found a mod which fixes the distorted foxes from Cottage Living, that bug still hasn't been fixed since Cottage Living was released.

I don't want to stop playing but unfortunately gameplay (mainly live mode) is becoming a frustration for the following reasons:

    - It takes ages to get my Sims to do what I want them to do because an action to check their phone or talk to the nearest random townie takes over first.

    - The constant obsessive phone checking whilst walking along. What's the point of having amusing walk styles if they are forever going to be interrupted by phone use?

    - I can't take my Sims to a community lot without being bombarded by floods of NPC townies (am sure the numbers have increased recently). They always interrupt my sims' conversations, butt in when two of my Sims are trying to spend some quality time together (no it's not okay for you to sit here. My Sims are having a PRIVATE chat!) stand in the way when I'm trying to do a photoshoot and hog all the equipment on a lot so that it takes several attempts for my Sims to actually be able to use a community item.
I wouldn't want no townies at all, but would like to choose when my Sims interact with them and not have every conversation be a free for all.

    - Mermaid eyes and scales no longer link to human/land form in my game's CAS, despite having link 'All' checked. I like to make colourful, fantastical looking land walkers but can't currently create any new mermaids the way I used to because of this bug.

    - There are options to make outgoing, confident and sports clique (Bro) Sims in CAS but still no Shy trait.* 'Loner,' to me, feels more like introversion than shyness and I am disappointed that after all this time there is still no differentiation between the two in the game.

    - The random meanness bug is still not fixed in my game, and it is causing my Sims to gain hurt sentiments nearly every time.

    - My Sims relationships with other Sims I have created deteriorates rapidly over a couple of days. Sometimes they forget each other completely. Yet when my sims meet a townie or premade once, they seem to remember them forever and have developed the inexplicable ability to become permanent friends despite never having socialised with said NPC or premade since. Sometimes this has happened with Sims they have never even met. Those are not the relationships I'm interested in developing! This is especially annoying when playing my loner sims as it jars with the personality and stories I'm trying to imagine for them.

    - Despite having neighbourhood stories turned off, I am still getting phonecalls from my Sims about relationship advice (and again, my own Sims phone up about people they've never even met or only met once). I am NOT INTERESTED in the relationship drama of the whole neighbourhood! I just want to do my own thing with my own Sims.

    - It's not that I don't want any contact with premade or townie Sims but I would like to be able to choose when, where and how much my sims interact with them. The social side of gameplay does seem to have gone a bit overboard. My Sims gain and lose sentiments faster than I can keep up with.
With all of the above, I do feel a little llike I'm having a 'real life' extrovert dating relationship story forced on my gameplay against my will. But that is not how I want to play.

    - And finally... the Mischief interaction has been a wasted opportunity. Instead of creative visual pranks, most of the options seem to be an extension of the Mean interaction, some have the same animation as many other speaking interactions and some really should be in Mean because they border on bullying (manipulating people's confidence is not a fun prank to do and shouldn't be classified as such). The Sabotage interaction was especially disappointing. I wanted my Sim to be a master prank puller, not a gaslighter.

    * I don't own all the packs so if there is a shyness trait available in one then ignore that particular comment.

I spent half my most recent game play resetting family relationships after a love triangle developed between Grandmother, Mother, and Daughter (thank the simming gods for MCCC). I still have to use a mod to stop the incessant phone use (yeah a mermaid in the middle of swimming from one area to another is not gonna pull out their phone half way across the ocean), kids randomly getting stuck attending school, DHD isn't working for me at all, still can't turn of wants and needs, rampant ageism is rampant with every elder sim still being stuck in terrified mode due to fear of death, etc, etc, etc.

If it wasn't for the availability of mods I seriously doubt I would be playing at all right now.

I agree that whoever ca.e up with the Mischief options didn't seem to get what harmless mischief is supposed to be. What happened to whoopee cushions and fake flies in your beverage sorts of pranks?

Telling someone "fake terrible news" isn't funny or harmless.

I have to agree with you, the mischief is not what I was hoping for either, and much of it does just seem mean.

    Agreed.

My game is completely unplayable without Mods after Patch 1.93

    My Sims:
-Will not stop being mean to each other, to the point that they completely destroy 100% friends/best friends and even lover relationships, in as little as 2 Sim days. (tested without Mods) - I HAD to add BossLadyTV's Mod to fix this, or not play. Literally left with no choice. (Find it on Curseforge) --> Search her name.
-Need bar colors are wrong, and do not change with increase. (tested without mods)
-Teen school performance does not increase, no matter how much homework, exams, notes I take, and classes I attend.

I have the High School Years Expansion pack, so to not be able to increase their grade performance, is really defeating the purpose of the pack altogether. Thank the Mod Community for MCC and UI cheats, so that I can micromanage my game until I do not need to anymore.

BUT. This is also happening for Console players, and they DO NOT have these options. :(

Fake bugs and whoopie cushions would have been great! They could have had different ones available to buy with different sound effects (animals, car horn, etc).

Yes it was a shame because the concept of a chief of mischief sounds really fun, but , like with a lot of the interactions there are too many that are just talking, when there could have been more entertaining visuals.

Yeah, the random meanness is weird. It makes sense for the Mean and maybe Evil traits, but not for Hot-Headed or Erratic. It also shouldn't happen just because a Sim is Angry. If they're Angry, they might react negatively to certain interactions, like Mischief and Romantic, or even Friendly or Funny on rare occasions, but suddenly insulting or yelling at a fellow Sim just because they're in a bad mood doesn't make sense. I might be a bit short with someone when I'm mad about something, but I'm not going to just suddenly chew them out for no reason. Most of us have a bit more self-restraint than that.

I’m really sorry to hear that. My current sims have never set a fire while cooking, even when there was 3 of them using a cheap starter cooker in bad moods at low level. Also I never had the mean sims bug - I heard you don’t get it if you have snowy escape so maybe this is why.

The one bug I did see a lot was the one where when you leave your lot all your plants turn back to dirt again.

I have two questions for all of you.
1.) Do you use mods/cc? If you answer yes, remove that folder via your Documents path. Then check your game to see if the fires are still bursting out all over. If so, then you'll have to filter through the mods/cc until you find the culprit.
If not, then I advise you to do a Game REPAIR. Remove your Mods folder, if you have mods and cc, first. Then open Origin and right click on the Sims4 game cover, select repair game and let it do it's thing all the way. Once this is complete, take your game out for a spin, as it were, to see if it's still malfunctioning. If it's okay, great.

The third option is to start a new game save. Test it out, if the problem is gone, then you know your current save is corrupted. Best of luck. It might be a good idea to get into a habit of doing a game repair after each and every patch from now on.

Hope this helps you. I know when things aren't working right how frustrating it can be.

Have done all of the above. Mods or no mods, with a brand new test game started, there's no difference. Done numerous game repairs, and also several factory resets (then tested with and without mods), again zero difference. I've now accepted that there is no way I can play my game at the moment without using mods.

Gaslighting is a complex process in which one person manipulates another into questioning their own sanity and capabilities. I don't think that's nowhere near what sims can do to each other, especially when it comes to instilling false confidence. Especially since Instill False Confidence is so vague, it could be anything as simple as talking a sim up. And in terms of the "victim" sim, this interaction is only positive and has no negative repercussions. Most of the social interactions under Mischief skill are just creating minor nuisances, or stuff that sounds big, but has no real effect on gameplay or sims (school/work pranks.)

But I'd love to have more visual pranks, especially if they're available for children. That's the time where most people are interested in pulling pranks.

@WorkFromHome @amberlunez One of the new fears is a Fear of Fire, which makes a sim much more likely to cause accidental fires. Check your traits panel to see if your problem sim has it. (They really should have made this whole thing much more clear ingame, instead of making wants look exactly like whims and hiding fears at the bottom of a panel that most people don't use very often.)

Just get them the Cure Fear Potion, then they won't have the fear of fire. Also, when a sim develops a new fear just get them the Potion again.

I'd simply like to know why this game continously crashes consoles!? I am done with this game. The ever lagging of it, while playing offline, is just unsatisfactory! How in the world does a game lag offline🤔 I don't ever remember Sims 3 lagging like this. So, why is Sims4 in this state? I am sick and tired of lazy and obviously intentional developing that causes harm to both the machine and the individual trying to play a game and Maxis is no exception to this type. Perhaps, Maxis needs to seek out someone different other than EA. EA just needs to stick to sports games and leave everything else to more interested parties. It's unfortunate that Sims4 has all the bugs it does. I have finally deleted the game off my console and I will not re-download it ever again! It's too much of a nuisance for me to even care anymore. I'd be better off playing a mobile version of the game. While PC has all It's molders out there, console is just left behind and to wallow in it's own disasters. Too little, too late. This is another company I will no longer financially support, regardless of any new content. And this is my first and last forum post.

I stopped playing the game normally after wants and fears were introduced with no way to turn them off for real. The camel's back was already heavily loaded at the time, but that was the final straw that broke it. For most of 2022, I only used the game to record footage for my machinima series, didn't buy any DLC except Werewolves which I needed it for that same purpose, and even there, bugs and unwanted features kept getting in the way. I don't think I have a single clip of sims walking somewhere without at least one of them checking their phone, and toddlers can no longer walk properly at all.

Speaking of the latter, does anyone else have that problem? Toddler's walking animation is broken in my game (or at least it was the last time I checked). When they're going somewhere, they take a few normal steps, but after that it looks like the animation keeps resetting. They're still moving forward and getting from A to B with no noticeable delay, it just looks really weird, and forced me to rewrite a scene so the toddler didn't have to walk. If the next pack is going to focus on toddlers and infants as much as the trailer has me believe, it would be in everyone's best interest to get that fixed by then.

Towards the end of last year, I felt a desire to start playing the game normally again, but then I just didn't. I've acquired an annoying habit of creating new households, moving them into the world and just leaving them there. Maybe it's the bugs, or the fact that I've gone so long without new content, or something else entirely, but for some reason, I can no longer enjoy The Sims 4 as I used to.
