We have the uniforms and animations needed. However er, uh, we don't have the truck. Sims mostly used extinguishers, so the truck/pump/hoses if needed.
Can easily be a base game update as a result; as nearly everything but the career itself is done.
There are no firetrucks, but there are fire hydrants in the game. Firemen could definitely come equipped with a ladder and a firehose and they could practice and master fire extinguishing techniques using water, foam, or how to use a ladder not just to climb to next floor but also as a walkway between buildings. They could also give first aid to sims and pets. A truck doesn't need to be involved at all. Or if they must add it they could add it as a decorative car on the road, like the school bus, and block the road to traffic as it usually happens in such cases.
I think an active firefighter career would be fairly repetitive and get old quickly.
I agree active careers are quickly repetitive like real life jobs.
The difference with Firefighter and Lifeguard TS3 careers it's about life in danger. For me it's never boring to save lives.
If it's a big disaster like an earthquake, the neighborhood area could also need to be rescued.

Load into lot, put out fire, dance, go home.
I suppose you might have to rescue a kitten from a tree once in awhile, but I can't see an active firefighter career being overly engaging.
Now a rabbit hole firefighter career? I'd be up for that.
All active careers are bound to be repetitive but if they allow for flexibility then they should be OK. You don't need to go everyday to work with your sim and on the days you go they could switch activities a bit so they are not always the same and think boring. Like some days you don't need to put out any fires and you just wait on standby, doing small tasks, repairs, work on fitness, play with the station mascot or play football, etc. Then some days you need to put out fires, it could be fires in a home, or a restaurant, or a forest fire, and some other days you need to inspect buildings to give fire safety permits, or inspect fire hydrants, or you need to rescue a cat from a tree, or attend a career day at a school maybe, need to make a presentation about fire safety and first aid, or need to clean and buff up your truck for a parade, and also let's not forget about hot firemen charity calendar photoshoot day.

It would be nice to bring that in Sims 4.
