Oh, No, Now The Toddler Is Infected!

GalacticGalGalacticGal Posts: 28,579 Member
It's bad enough when the older Sims fail to take care of their needs, but now my toddler, who is very hungry as the pop-down warned, is wandering about the house. His mother gave him a serving of fluffy, mouth-watering pancakes, but instead of simply sitting on the floor, Jamison must wander. First he goes out a door that leads to the large front portico. He starts to get up in a chair, but for some odd reason gets right back down, after the plate of pancakes flashes for a nano-second, to wander back indoors, down the hall to the TV room. I thought, surely, he was going to sit on one of those plush pin-cushion looking seats, but no. He's still wandering around! Now, he's hangry and not only does my Sim have to put up with his attitude, so do I. Face/palm.

What is up with that?

I noticed my toddler can’t eat muffins. But he is eating other foods (including pancakes) fine. It is truly frustrating when they traverse the entire house to sit in a particular chair. Usually they just try to eat with another sim who’s seated. But mine went downstairs and onto the back patio for his meal the other day, even though he has a bed and a pillow-chair in the nursery. But other times, he has stayed to eat. I wish I knew why this happens sometimes!

Was your toddler trying to eat with another sim, or what?

I don't think so. I do think the problem was, he managed to grab a bowl of popcorn, over grabbing the pancakes that I had queued up. On top of that I originally had his mother all set to grab a serving for him. It's entirely possible, the little guy couldn't make up his mind what to eat, first. He placed the popcorn on the dining room table, and I took that opportunity to remove it. Later on, I removed the popcorn maker, too. Menace that it is. LOL He finally sat down and ate the pancakes. My game is still on, else I would post a picture of him stuffing his little face.

He's no worse that the toddler whose hunger is in the red zone, and instead of eating, is in a playful mood and throws her food on the floor. Two and three times. Animal crackers? Something to eat and play with, too?

Sometimes it feels like these complications were integrated deliberately to make game more difficult.

Yep I experience this too. I get so frustrated I usually just lock them in the bedroom and put the plate of food in there. I also still have the problem of them not finishing their food & they stop before theyre actually full

If that's the case, then bring it on! Great insight.

Was he maybe looking for a nearby sim to eat with? The sims in TS4 are very social creatures. I've noticed they will almost always choose to be with other sims to eat even if it means sitting on a nearby bed.

My toddler invariably bee lines it to the bench on the back porch with his food when not in a high chair rain or shine, hot or freezing cold he doesn’t seem to care. He wobbles himself out there and watches the world go by while stuffing his little cheeks.

In my vampire cult household, the toddlers seem to prefer toddling across the whole house to sit on the carpet in front of the couch on the upstairs landing. That's the only household I prefer using high chairs, even though I have to watch the other sims like a hawk so they dont take them out while they're eating. Haven't noticed that sort of behaviour in my other households, but that's the only mansion I regularly use, a modified version of Hound's Tooth in Brindleton Bay.

I haven't played with toddlers in awhile but I noticed while watching Kelsey from buzzfeed's 100 baby challenge that she was having the same problem. Her toddlers would sit for a second with their food then immediately get back up, wander around for a bit, then put the food down. She had to tell them to eat several times before they actually did it and the hunger bar was way in the red. I think the toddler eating bug is back. :/
Have a super fantastic awesome splendid amazing day! -TheQxxn

I got very frustrated when playing with toddlers because of how they would have the need icon for hungry, but wouldn't eat. the next time I play with them, if they don't eat they can starve as far as I'm concern (don't worry I never had any kids). My Sim can always have another one.
I know it sounds terrible, but it is just a game.

This made me laugh out loud as I thought of pushing a toddler and their pancakes into a room and locking the door behind them hahaha :)

I have a megaton of toddlers in my current save. Mine will grab the food and either sit down immediately to eat it or they will find a chair in the living room miles away from everyone else to eat alone LOL
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

My Plumbob is GREEN today :D

i send my sim to bathe or put my toddler to sleep and they’re not able to go in the house anymore. it’s like when i send them by themselves in the house, they go in fine, but when they grab the toddler and i send them to bathe or feed the toddler, they’re not able to go anywhere. i tried resetting the sims and it still is a problem. help?

Latest toddler glitch for me is that they stop eating to play with blocks. All of them. So now no blocks for the wee ones.

It's a very annoying action tbh. Like int he sims three they'd just sit down and eat (unless they were sharing a meal with a family member), they wouldn't pause every five seconds to look around and smile like a dork...
Give our Vampires back their fangs!!! Reverse the Nerf!!! Occult simmers should not be shoved aside for the "realism players"! It's time Occult lovers/players started to demand equal treatment. #JusticeForOccults

Yeah I can't get over how much faster they eat in the Sims 3 compared to the Sims 4. I'm torn really cause on one hand I love the multitasking of sims chatting together while having a meal but on the other hand it makes everything so painfully slow.

Try resetting the lot. Go into build/buy mode upload the lot, furnished, and then download it again. No guarantee, mind you, but it might help.

Oh, now that's a bummer. They gain so much using those blocks. Oi! Everytime EA fixes something they manage, unfortunately, to break something in return. Oi! Hang onto your hats, with the latest EP due out 13 November, the patch will be coming fairly soon. :open_mouth:
