So I’m tryna see something. The Sims 4 is primarily targeted towards children and I don’t understand why. All the data I’ve seen, suggests the audience of the Sims are primarily adults with an average age of 30? With TS4, I feel as though the long-time players of the game, have been disregarded in favour of appealing to kids, and I’d just like to see if this poll supports my theory that players of The Sims are mainly adults so the game should reflect that.

Most kids/teens who play TS4 will be on social media rather than the forums so for the purpose of your investigation this isn't the best place to do this poll.

I think minors were just asked not to state their exact age. They weren't asked not to vote in the poll.

It found that 64% of respondents were 20-39, 18% were 40-59, 11% were 13-19, 5% were 60 or older.

It found that 28% of respondents were 31-40, 21% were 20-25, 20% were 26-30, 13% were 50-60, 6% were 16-19, 6% were 60 or older, 2% were 12-15.
Like I said before though, the results of a poll here are not going to be truly representative of the average age of simmers in general. It will only show you the average age of simmers on the forum and forum members tend to be the 'older' fans. Most 'younger' fans are in sims groups on social media instead.

The option ‘15 or younger’ is inappropriate. Youngsters should not be allowed vote for an option in which it’s clear they are a minor since this is a public poll.
Other polls did show a wider range in which the actual age of younger folks is unclear unless they comment, which is not encouraged and post like that are removed by the mods.
Anyway. I’m a grumpy but incredibly handsome old fool.
I imagine it has 15 or younger because in a lot of places, people get most of their adult privileges at 16, rather than 18, but I'm just guessing.
It's against the forum rules for anyone underage (18) to state their age, whatever that is. So maybe that option is indeed inappropriate.
This is the international sims forum though. The game is rated for teens, which I believe starts at 12+. A poll option that states 12-25 is maybe more appropriate? I get it’s not how reality plays out, however, if we go by the content rating for this game, anyone younger than 12 should not be encouraged to use the forum or play the sims...

Edit: indeed, as I was typing, @crocobaura stated correctly that it’s against the forum rules to announce your age when under 18.
