@Me1620 and @rnramey I am in Victoria, the main bushfires are in New South Wales, Queensland and south Australia (so basically the states above and to the left of mine). My cousin is up near the fires in part of New South Wales but while they can't get out of town due to roads being closed, her and her family are safe at the moment. They can have Christmas at the beach. There are a few other DD followers that are from Australia so let's hope they too are safe and sound.

I already knew that seasons didn't match for Aussies, but I didn't think they were the actual opposite!
In other words, while I was "Sweating Profusely" last Summer, you were freezing. That gives a lot to think about!
@Lexers615 I probably was, although it doesn't get too cold where I am. Around zero celicus (32F) is about the coldest it gets (maybe a little colder) where I am, and that's generally overnight. Low teen numbers in degrees celicus are normal top temps for days. In other parts of the country (even a couple of hours down the road) it will get cold enough to have decent snow on a regular basis during winter.
The Southern Hemisphere has the opposite seasons to the northern hemisphere, probably due to the way the earth is pointing at the sun. Which also means the school year is different too. In Australia the kids will go back to school sometime after Australia Day (January 26th) and then finish the school year sometime in December, depending on what year they are in at the time (younger kids generally will finish just before Christmas).

Hi guys. Christmas wasn't all that busy for me, I just haven't been online much.
I have an aversion to the news, mainly because of the circus that is American politics right now. So I didn't realize that Australia was facing widespread fires, similar to what we had in our Southwest this summer. I hope all our members remain safe and at least relatively unaffected.
Christmas itself was low key this year, which is fine with me these days. I hope everyone else got to celebrate as little or as much as they wanted (@goodfeel93)
I got (aka bought myself with Christmas money) am Xbox this week. I also got EA unlimited for free for a month, which gives me access to The Sims 4 on the console. Which is great because it includes Strangerville and Island Living. I get to check them out, and probably get all the play time I'll ever want out of Strangerville.
I went this route because my gaming laptop is showing it's age and overheating frequently when I'm playing games. It was much cheaper to get the game console than a new gaming computer.
This way I can limit my remaining "mileage" on my laptop for The Sims 3 and lighter PC stuff.
Anyway, hope everyone is well and an early Happy New Year (in case I go missing again the rest of this week.)

(And I am always glad to quietly slide past the holiday season. From Thanksgiving to New Years, it's all holiday and birthday and holiday and birthday, until New Years Eve comes along and I decide to stay in. As a child I resented not getting birthday parties when my summer/spring siblings got them, but as an adult, by the time we get to this part of the year I just want to sleep. )
Also, I have been up since 4 and have way too much energy to show for it.

The Southern Hemisphere has the opposite seasons to the northern hemisphere, probably due to the way the earth is pointing at the sun. Which also means the school year is different too. In Australia the kids will go back to school sometime after Australia Day (January 26th) and then finish the school year sometime in December, depending on what year they are in at the time (younger kids generally will finish just before Christmas).

I have an aversion to the news, mainly because of the circus that is American politics right now. So I didn't realize that Australia was facing widespread fires, similar to what we had in our Southwest this summer. I hope all our members remain safe and at least relatively unaffected.
Christmas itself was low key this year, which is fine with me these days. I hope everyone else got to celebrate as little or as much as they wanted (@goodfeel93)
I got (aka bought myself with Christmas money) am Xbox this week. I also got EA unlimited for free for a month, which gives me access to The Sims 4 on the console. Which is great because it includes Strangerville and Island Living. I get to check them out, and probably get all the play time I'll ever want out of Strangerville.
I went this route because my gaming laptop is showing it's age and overheating frequently when I'm playing games. It was much cheaper to get the game console than a new gaming computer.
This way I can limit my remaining "mileage" on my laptop for The Sims 3 and lighter PC stuff.
Anyway, hope everyone is well and an early Happy New Year (in case I go missing again the rest of this week.)

(And I am always glad to quietly slide past the holiday season. From Thanksgiving to New Years, it's all holiday and birthday and holiday and birthday, until New Years Eve comes along and I decide to stay in. As a child I resented not getting birthday parties when my summer/spring siblings got them, but as an adult, by the time we get to this part of the year I just want to sleep.
Also, I have been up since 4 and have way too much energy to show for it.
