Assignment 5 - Be The Art
Model: Donnita Tester (I made her for a testing save, lol)
Based on 'The Sky Dance' by Leonid Afremov
Okay, idk how I'm going to do in scores but I'm freakin' proud of myself. I drew the dress and hair from scratch (I haven't drawn hair in like 2 years, bleh), then drew over the in-game ballet shoes. I didn't want to try drawing the scarf after how long the dress took me, so just cut around and added it. I probably should have chosen something easier for converting a sim into art, but man I fell in love with this picture. I was originally going to do an Edgar Degas painting (below spoiler) based on an art recreation project I did back in school, but while searching for the image I found this one. And I'm sure everyone's curious about her face, but yes that is a mask. No one knows why he added one, he just did. xD
Original
Image I almost chose
This is what I had to re-draw/re-create back in school. xD I think it was middle school (so around 11-13 years old).
@Jendowoz0612 Uhhhh....Which part? The painting effect I added to my sim is actually an action I bought (my painting was specifically a palette knife oil painting, so I wanted to be as close as possible, though in hindsight I should have tried the free stuff first because they might have matched better, whoops).
Covering hair already (still only 1/3 done though, lol).
Drawing the skirt, like I don't even know where to begin but I can try.
The shoes were pretty easy which makes them easy to cover. I've been discovering new tools lately in PS that have been very helpful for my last few images.
Um....the pose? It was a pose I grabbed from someone else and then I altered it. So much easier than starting from scratch when I can just combine and adjust in Blender.
And the mask was a pain to fix (I started with white, don't ever start with white it's not worth it ), but I can cover that too. Lol
The scarf was just cutting and puppet warp, and the background was clonestamp. But yeah let me know and I'll see what I can do.
@Mamajanaynay and @jaunty this round is closed. Now I'm not sure what time zone you guys are on but it has been 12 hours since the round end. I normally give 24 hours extensions, and since Jaunty asked for an extension til 5pm, i will accept entries for 12 more hours even though i will message Jillie now to get a start on her judging so we get our judging either Monday or Tuesday (my time).
In the meantime, the next round will be posted shortly.
@xJojox I've been slammed with work and have had literally 0 time to do anything other than come home, eat something, go to sleep for a few hours and back up for work. I've had to do 16 hour days for the past week with very little time off in between. Thank you for hosting this comp, I only wish I would of been able to continue to the end. Good luck to everyone maybe I'll get the chance to lurk but I need to eat then go to bed. Have to be up in 8 hours to go in for another 16 hours.
Awwww @Mamajanaynay I Understand. It definitely gets like that sometimes. I feeling it the same too at the moment with my school classes. I hope things will get easier for you
Omg, thank you so much judges! And congrats to everyone else as well! I'm so happy you liked it. And totally agree with the shading. I realized it needed to be darker on the neck and legs but wasn't about to go undo the action work when I realized it (even though I think I can easily replace it), just said done at that point. And also his shading wasn't making sense on that leg, lol. Like, he made the light source in front of her but switched it to the back for the leg, I'm so confused.
And seen the next assignment. Also excited for this one but no idea what to do yet.
I am so sorry for not getting my application in on time. The weekend was a bad one for me wish I had not covered, but then again I could not let clients be left without any care. I will be lurking, good luck everyone
That was a hard assignment and I made it harder for myself doing a couple. Glad it paid off. Wanted to try using another sim though to challenge myself. Glad the poses were on point. I'm getting better at making them I think. I do agree that it needed some adjustments. Still thanks you two! Always appreciate your feedback.
Seen the new assignment! I absolutely love it! I just need an idea and some cc!
