Great! Thanks for putting up with all the questions and clarifications! I'm having fun with this... even if it is slightly maddening watching them stand outside in the heat. At least the other day when it rained, Ophelia played in it instead of just standing there after work.
This looks like another great challenge, @EuphorialQueen! I'm bookmarking it for my ever-growing to-do list. I, too, am an extreme micro-manager, so not being able to control one of my sims for an entire week at a time will definitely be a challenge.
@EuphorialQueen Can both Sims own a pet? I think it would be fun to add it so Sim 1 only controls Pet 1 on their week and Sim 2 only controls their Pet 2 on their week. Then on Sundays, either Sim can control either Pet.

That certainly would add a new element to the challenge. I would love to know how that works out.
Phew! Career progress is very restricted playing this way.
I am close to the end of week six and this is where I am so far.
Castle is a writer maxed the writing skill and has just finished the Best Selling Author aspiration.
He just got promoted to level five in the writer career. Royalties are a big boost to his income.
Bice is plugging away at level six Boss branch of the Criminal career.
She maxed Mischief skill and completed the Chief of Mischief aspiration. She only needs a couple more promotions to complete the Public Enemy aspiration.
Both maxed the dance skill and are working on other skills autonomously.
Another note of interest .... neither has a stove and there is no outdoor grill.. The each have their own fridge and a counter. Castle maxed the cooking skill and is level eight of gourmet cooking. Bice is close to maxing the cooking skill but only at level five gourmet cooking.
Okay, it's official... I love this challenge! Summer has just started, and I've gotten the hang of this not controlling the other sim. As a matter of fact, it's hard on Sundays to remember that I can control both of them. I'll post an update in a little bit with their progress as we enter the second set of rotations.

Oh man, darn it @EuphorialQueen I've got so many challenges right now I'm playing and currently remodeling a huge mansion, but this looks like so much fun! I've already done the Three Little Sims challenge which is similar to this and that was fun too! Gah! Okay, after I finish what I'm currently doing, I have to try this challenge. Thanks for posting it, all your challenges are such a blast to play! #challengeaddictforlife
So week 3 for me and it was back to Oscar as the controlled sim.
Felix the uncontrolled sim painted, and painted, and painted autonomously. Now and then he cleaned the desk... gotta keep that clean, you know? Last time I played him I took him to a museum to view paintings and he was at level 3 of that aspiration. He got through that level sometime while I wasn't controlling him and then got through most of the last level. I know he painted as many masterpieces as were needed anyway. He's on level 9 skill wise so he'll complete that aspiration this week while I control him for sure. Felix also made it to level 7 of his career. I chose the Patron of the Arts tract for him because I like that Rustic Bed that comes as a reward. I had hung all the paintings he completed on his walls and then he sold most of them off on Sunday. If that was cheating slap my hand some.
Oscar also got to level 9 writing and the royalties are of course coming in. He's on the last leg of his aspiration too but still needs one bestseller, and more money from royalties .. that will keep coming in of course while I'm not controlling him. I'll have to finish up his aspiration on his next controlled week though. So.. close! He also has a ladyfriend now. It's not official but Maakie Haas was walking by and I decided he liked ladies that were a little fuller figured, because he seems to leer at them anyway. He invited her in while Felix was at work and the courtship began. They look good together I think. He also increased other skills this week.. handiness, cooking and some more charisma. Oh he also just hit 3 star celebrity on Sunday as he sent one book off. I'm pretty sure I'll lose most if not all that status next week while not being controlled. The last time I controlled him he only got to one star.
By Sunday @7pm they have over 38 k in the bank. It went up dramatically because of selling paintings and the book royalties starting to snowball. I might go back in and increase the size of their house again but not sure what I'll buy for them if I do.
I see the end of this challenge coming up probably in two more weeks of play.
I haven't done these careers in awhile or even played this way for awhile so I'm very glad to revisit it it's been fun. I really like the rhythm of just focusing on one sim in a household that is a main part of this challenge. I tend to hit pause all the time when I'm playing more than one sim because I have to micromanage. This is really a good way for me to say no to that and realize the sky isn't going to fall if I don't plan every step out. I have to keep relearning that lesson.. maybe this time it will stick?
Week 7

Time for Castle to take over for week 8.... more to come.
I built a harder house for the next go round. It has coolers and all the lowest range greening stuff. I know I picked a really easy route this time. Next time I'm going to set my sims up for more trouble. Either way though I do really love this challenge and can see working it in as a regular way to play. It's mostly helping me explore things I haven't in awhile.. and I can see it pushing me to explore things I never have.
So just a thanks post in general @EuphorialQueen
I have been thinking lately (hope it's not incredibly off topic) that this challenge is really different than the norm. I'd like more like it where it can be doable for a more casual player... or someone that plays in spurts.. or just someone that wants something slightly different to do.
So, I set this up as not a story, but a gameplay and will work on it when I'm not writing my SimLit.
Anyway, I bring you my Trade Off Challenge gameplay.
I bring you Oreo Cookie and Percy Doodad!
Oreo Cookie is here to lose weight. He aspires to be a bodybuilder. During his play weeks, we'll hopefully see him transform into studly man. I gave him the traits of Active (to help with his aspiration), Slob (cause I'm curious to see how that goes), and Outgoing (so he might find someone when he gets that hot bod).
Percy Doodad loves music and aspires to be a musical genius. During her play weeks, we'll watch as she becomes a music sensation. I gave her the traits of Music Lover (to help with her aspiration), Neat (as that is the opposite of Slob), and Loner (as that is the opposite of Outgoing and it'll be interesting to see how this affects her aspiration and career).
And we have the house that Oreo and Percy will be sharing. Their rooms are identical except for the colors and each have something to help with their aspiration - Oreo has workout equipment and Percy has instruments. Both have a bookshelf and computer to do stuff autonomously during the week they are not being controlled. Their rooms are locked so they cannot visit each other. Oreo and Percy do share a kitchen. I will not force social interactions between the two except on Sundays. I will allow them to autonomously socialize with each other if they happen to be in the kitchen together. I gave their house traits of Gnomes (cause I don't want them spending all their time fixing things), Bracing Breezes (to help Oreo), and Great Acoustics (to help Percy). After building their house, I am left with $179.
Pretty sure this will be an easy version, but with Oreo being a Slob and Percy being a Loner, that should add a little to the challenge!
I finished, it was much harder than I expected.
Sim 1. Evil, Active, Romantic. Friend of the world aspiration and criminal career. Maxed mischief, athletic, handiness, charisma and cooking.
Sim 2. Good, Lazy, Unflirty. Writer aspiration and writer career.
Maxed writing and piano.
Sim 2, completed her aspiration and career first. Sim 1 would have completed her aspiration first, if I had looked at the career log after she came home with a promotion.
Had a few issues with my Sims being sick a lot, I blame the lazy Sim she would not clean up at all, I even tried a club with cleaning as the only thing to do she never did anything. She was perfectly happy napping surrounded by several dirty stinking plates. In week 4 she had a whim for a dishwasher, so I bought them both 1, she never used it. The only thing that helped was when I added a back door in there kitchen areas, she would then sometimes voluntarily pick up her plate walk outside and place it on the floor before taking another nap. Evil Sim would clean them up when she did her dish's.
Individual fridges. On the first Sunday I had them both make a couple of meals to try and prevent future fires. On the second Sunday, I sent Sim 2 to get a meal out of her fridge which had been cooked by Sim 1 but had constant routing errors. She could access the fridge to cook her own or get a quick meal but trying to take a meal cooked by the other Sim lead to route fail. Had the same issue with Sim 1 the following week when i tried to have them take a meal cooked by Sim 2. They try to access the fridge it was placed in. I thought fridges where linked but my Sims could only take food out of the fridge, it was placed in.
Lazy Sims, I never realised how bad they are. I have used them in various challenges but never had 1 locked up and expected to take care of themselves and there home. This Sim nearly drove me insane the amount of times I shouted at her/ that pixelated person. I started in spring so winterfest was week 8 I was controlling lazy Sim at the time. I had granted her whim for a nap when i decided to look in and see what Sim 1 was up to, when i noticed lazy Sim was awake watching TV and laughing, she was hysterical. I had to pause my game because I really wanted that Sim to die, even though the challenge only had 3 days left. As I was controlling her I directed her to bathroom mirror to calm down but I really did not want to.
Door locks. Had issues a few times when they failed usually after starting the game, after game had been shut down. The locks where still in place but 1 Sim not both could enter the other Sims side of the house, removing the locks and re adding them worked for me.
I will defiantly try this again, will wait to see how those with slob Sims are getting on first. My Sims where friends by the end, they had very little time together on Sundays due to 1 or both was always working. Evil Sim had lots of whims to be mean to good Sim but very rarely carried it out without my input (they were granted). For me Sim 1 was unlucky with the seasons holidays, lost a couple of days at work, Sim 2s first forced day off was new year, last day of the challenge. Despite Sim 2 having the holiday advantage Sim 1 ended up with more reward points and whims complete.
@Plainevil Thank you for the report. I experienced some of the same issues with the fridge. I pulled the food onto a counter and could grab a plate. But getting leftovers prepared by the opposite Sim was not possible *if it was in the fridge*.
Hello
I am wondering if any of you have noticed an issue with being unable to get leftovers when made by another Sim in same household. SimA makes a family meal (4 servings) and puts it in their fridge. SimB is directed to get leftovers but does the route fail (waving etc) animation. I did not find anything on AnswersHQ but want to investigate before creating an issue log.

Observation:
Playing Trade Off Challenge
Tested with Sims Galen and Vector (Siblings)
Each has their own space with individual fridge.
Welcome wagon brought fruitcake.
At this point door between the two spaces is unlocked for all.
Test one:
Galen puts the fruitcake into her fridge.
It shows as available in both fridges when the door is opened by either Sim.
Vector is directed to "get leftovers" by clicking on his fridge.
He goes into Galen's fridge to get the leftovers.
Test two:
Fruitcake is pulled out onto counter then moved into Vector's fridge.
Galen is directed to "get leftovers" by clicking on her fridge.
She goes into Vector's fridge to get the leftovers.
@Plainevil Oreo is my first controlled sim, who is a slob. I'll attempt to share week 1 update in a few days. Week 2 where he isn't controlled will be most interesting.
@EuphorialQueen - Oh my goodness! Another challenge. I haven't even finished the last one you created yet! hehehe However, these short challenges look really good
