do you ever make your friends or families? I usually don't; but one time I did make a friend of mine. I had downloaded a Jude Law sim and moved him in with her. They got married. She was so happy. LOL
I tried to make my parents house once, but it was too much trouble. They have an odd shaped house.
Recently, I made Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds. She is my favorite character from that show. Not family or friend, but I wanted to make her anyway. She is a tech guru.

About the only real life people I've made are my simself and my grandparents. They had a farm and I enjoyed "walking" down memory lane making their home and putting them in it. Of course, I made my real family too.
But a few years ago I started a giant project of making sims from my favorite tv shows. I cleared out a town and then with Nraas Story Progression I watched them all interact and become friends and get married. It was pretty cool to see who ended up together. I've still got them all saved somewhere, maybe some day I'll do it again.
I think one of the oddest pairings was Rose Tyler from Doctor Who was dating Tom Haverford from Parks & Rec.

For the most, I don't add any living people, such as celebrities, into my game with the exception being other Simmer's Simselves. I don't play these Sims they are always free living townies. However, I make it a point to set them up in the way their creator defined them.
It seemed too weird to play my own family, but when I was playing a sim who started a band and couldn't find anyone among the residents of Bridgeport that had high enough skill, I placed sims into the town for her to have in her band, with my son's simself among them to be the pianist, because he plays and even makes up his own music. His simself actually sounds very much like him when he talks, and acts a lot like him too. It felt like I was hanging out with my son in the game.
I have made several celebrity sims and have a lot of fun playing them. Last week I made a Keanu Reeves sim who I am using as my avatar.

On the adoptee, of the ones mentioned the only one I play actively, I've told this story before but I still remember his birthday up to YA. There was a cousin staying with them who was due to age up at the same time. He had no problems with his birthday cake, but she ended up setting the house on fire. Everyone of course started running around in a panic, screaming, doing not so helpful things. Everyone except the adoptee, he sat there in the middle of it all eating his birthday cake and blissfully staring into space the entire time (no one was really injured, thankfully, and never underestimate the soothing properties of freshly baked goods). That is exactly the way my friend's 16th birthday went a very long time ago, except without the fire -- all the yelling and screaming were really about some family drama or other that was taking place. I was both amused and creeped out at the same time.

This sim is the simself of my wife @Featherbelle (who's the one that indulges my Sims 3 addiction).
This sim is the simself of my late father...(who passed away in 2009; I tried to give him the "life he should have had"). It's been almost 10 years since my RL father passed away, I still miss him to this day.
Always "River McIrish" ...and maybe some Bebe Hart. ~innocent expression~
I prefer to make characters from my favorite books, movies and TV shows. For some reason, but I don't know why that is. Or I know, maybe?
JAG
left to right: Harmon Rabb Jr., Tosh Nakamura, James Pointer.
Meg Austin (from Season 1 JAG)
And of course...well, I used Audrey (from MTS)'s Catherine Bell sim for Mac; because, I swear, I couldn't get the sliders to cooperate on creating my own Mac.

A very good portion of them died in a kitchen fire, and I believe the rest slowly drowned as time went on.
I have SS of myself and my rl hubby but they look nothing like us which is okay. It's one of the good things about this game is that one can make SS of themselves and make them to be whatever they want them to be such as a werewolf, vampire, fairy or any other supernatural creature. Or even put them in jobs or professions that otherwise we wouldn't be in in our rl. Or have them cheat on their in-game spouses with other Sims and not worried about being called a cheater by your rl spouse.
I have also made a rl version of my former HS bf when I was playing TS2 back in the day. And then either I put her in the same house as my SS or moved her in to another house either next door or across the street so that they can be friends in the game... I even once made a sim of my former supervisor from my old job that I was laid-off at. I made her a fat person as she was once fat before having to loose weight because of her diabetes and placed her in a empty house. I then sent my SS over to her house so that I can declare her as an enemy so that my SS can beat the living daylights out of her. It was my way of dealing with being let go from a job that I had for 20+ years.
I have also recreated my childhood home in my game. It's the one in my signature. Boy did I have a hard time trying to create that house for a very long time as I kept trying to place the foundation next to the wall instead of doing it a block or 2 away and then then using the leveling tool to make the wall the same height as the foundation since the house is a split foyer home.
I had also recreated my grandparents trailer that they lived in when I was little... I've used this in my Barnacle Bay saved where I have my SS and my SS hubby living in...
And then I recreated my in-laws house in my game. It's the house that my current gameplay is in at the moment...

Yeah, I make TV characters all the time too. Also comic books & cartoons. I hardly ever make sims of people I know though.
One example of a house remade in The Sims:
In my current save I needed a farmboy to marry my farmgirl, but I rarely make and play male sims so when he was done I realised that he looked way to much like my younger brother. It just felt weird so I ended up just saving Gladsten Farmwell from Moonlight Falls to the library, and importing him to Riverview. He is the only good looking premade mansim in my opinion and I wanted Flora Farmare to have some eye-candy (I gave him that LTR too). His last name was excellent for the project too, but I gave him more appropriate traits for a monogamous farmer. He passed on his nose to his firstborn, unfortunate teenage girl.
But I used my brothersimself as a love interest for Gladstens alien son, so he wasn't wasted.
Because Gladsten is in the library the game generated him as a townie, so now there are duplicate hunks in Floras town, maybe she will get confused in her elder days and stray? Or maybe her stepson Beebop will aquire an elektra-complex on top of his already oidipus one - always gazing at the stars surrounded by space rocks as he is ... :P
Just posted this in another thread but it applies here too...
Matt, Mello, Near, Light, L and Watari are all characters from the manga/anime series Death Note.
Matt was only in the Manga for a few pages and in the anime for a few moments but he and Mello have a huge base of rabid fans (me being one of them)…
Light and L:
My Light is the most faithful to his actual looks in the Manga...I aged up Matt, Mello and Near, and made L less anime more Simmy..
I recently made him a bit more mature looking..
Fan art..Near and L:
Fan art...I love this one, L really is older than Matt, Mello and Near, Matt loves video games, Mello love chocolate and Near is just frigging cute!
Near, with Matt in the background..

Parting shots:
These pretty much sum up how Light and L feel about "the watcher and life ruin-er" they kinda both hate me....
*Fairy Jared and Vampire Connor*
The only resemblance to me now that she has are her traits and her hair color. And maybe the eyebrows?
