After 9 years I still have it, the original house which was much extended growing out of Sunset Valley and then transported to my world a few years later. I don't think that I have ever shared it before but here it is, nearly a decade on and much different from when I first built it!
Opposite the Batchelor's house
And Albert and Betty Croft the family who live here. I have had them as Sims since TS1
My sims primarily lived at premade houses near the launch and it wasn't until after couple generations I built my first house in TS3. I don't have any pictures, but it was trying to resemble a traditional Finnish summer cottage without electricity and other comforts. Oh, and it had an attic.
My first house was not a build for a long time, always had a thing for the Mosquito Cove home on 36 sim lane in Sunset Valley. It was to be my home of choice many games cause it reminded me of Dudley's trailer from Bustin Out on console and loved the challenge of decorating it without expanding it.
Afterwards it was the same but with the Americana 442 Skyborough Blvd instead in SV too,it just was fun turning a boring box into something cool just by changing the siding and designing the interior.
After all that came my first built homes which were intentionally just a boring small inexpensive box because starting that way is fun.Even to this day.The only difference is have to utilize that box but can build onto it unlike when I started.
The Monotone in Sunset Valley,a good place to start to me back then and later on add on to and expand ,especially after spiral staircases became available.Course for the sim I played back then, she was just bidding her time till either the Goths or the Altos were separated (it kinda annoyed me that Vita Alto who applied make-up with a trowel got to live in such a grand estate on the hill) lol! Now I kinda like building my own mini-castles with multi level basements to house all the treasures from adventuring.
I'm an old lady now. I can't remember what I did in 2009. I probably spent three days building something or renovating a SV house which would also take me days. That's my style... or, use to be. Now I try not to be so picky.
The house I remember playing some time in is the Pacer Place premade lot in Appaloosa Plains. I had a lot of fun expanding that place.
I barely remember the first house my sims lived in. I rarely build houses and when I do, there's no order to it and I tend to make the rooms unnecessarily large, but then again I like a very open floor plan.
I wanted to start out with a premade while I got the hang of things, so I picked Sofia Carlton. She was perfect—only one sim to handle, and no money troubles to complicate things. (I had her join the stylist career; it seemed like a good fit. Oh, and she dislikes children, meaning no inconvenient wishes to start a family.) So my first TS3 house was a three-story Barbie house that was more than I ever needed. For the entire time I played her, I think I only sent her up to the top floor two or three times.
The next game, I started from scratch and plunked down a couple in the Monotone, in SV. That save was abandoned quickly, along with any desire to play with my simself, modified or otherwise. (Let's just say that repeatedly cursing out my ss made me aware of some things about myself that I'd rather keep buried.)
The third game was the first time I really followed through with a family. I set them down in Twinbrook, on the large empty lot in the rich neighborhood across the bridge from what passes for downtown. I don't have pics, but it was basically a box with some trees around it. And the sims that lived there were always unhappy about everything. The house was dirty, the laundry was everywhere, there wasn't enough space for everyone, etc. And it was Twinbrook, so the whole town was damp and gloomy. Fun times.
The sunflower shack, appaloosa plains was my first sims 3 home. I wanted it for the ability of getting a horse. I've not had a horse in a save in months and that was the first time in years lol. I used that house so many times on different saves back then that I've got an automatic place where I put my equestrian center competition trophies lol.
Think it was the Shotgun house, which eventually got modified before I decided to move the family to a larger house. No pictures, I didn't really bother taking any back then.
My first house I built, vanished in the remember land now. Couple of years ago, I used to build. Now all my sims are living in premade houses I find them particulary interesting; except my simself I cared to build something from scratch. They are full of space and you can decorate it as you want.
Like, the first house that we built, or just the first house we played in general?
Because for playing, I just bought that prebuilt house with two bedrooms, the "Shotgun Starter" it was called. For the first house I built... it was literally just a shoebox, haha... wasn't that great at building houses as a kid

The first TS3 house I played was a nasty game supplied starter box with no character whatsoever. It was my first experience of Sim ageing and death because I'd never been able to play TS2 on my old laptop. My two sims got old and died without achieving anything much. I hated the house, the colours, the sims, the ageing, the game.... It took a while for me to warm to TS3 after TS1. When I eventually made a house - it was a doozy and I uploaded it to the Exchange. Whenever I kill my computer and have to start over I just download all my built houses from the Exchange again. Chateau Vue Des Falaises was my Grand Design and it sat on the big hilltop site in Sunset Valley.
My first sim lived in the "Monotone" in Sunset Valley. I changed it a bit, but the lot is just too small for a growing family. So I build a big house (just a one storey shoe box) on an empty lot and moved them there. I still use it, it´s not pretty, but the routing is good and I´m not much of a builder anyway.

lived their a few times and agree its too small. I did a makeover adding another floor but still felt small. great for a single/couple starter
I often extended into the backyard, after they had kids and change the floor plans (depending on how many bedrooms were needed). The front yard was often left as is (other than a vegetable garden added).
I don't remember whether my first sim lived in the Pre-Fabulous house or Mosquito Cove. Mosquito Cove was my favorite, even though I couldn't buy it furnished for a sim starting out, but when I wanted a fully furnished house, I used Pre-Fabulous. I didn't know about cheats and free real estate back then.
Well, my first ever home in Sims 3 was a starter home in Sunset Valley. It had a 1 car garage, 1 bedroom, and a small yard. My family never moved away and they both died in that very house with no children. The game literally ends when that happens. I almost never played again after that- it was pretty heartbreaking.
The very first custom house I had in Sims 3 was this very house here:
(I did not build this house)
This family lasted a while- I found the sliders for Age! They had kids and it was going really well for quite a long time until I reformatted my harddrive after forgetting to back up their saved game files.

The Cowboy and the Mermaid
First house in Sunset Valley...that I documented back in Jan 2017. Yeah...I only came to the Sims 3 fold recently.
Always "River McIrish" ...and maybe some Bebe Hart. ~innocent expression~
