This may be off topic, but is anyone else getting an initialization at start up error after today's update? I can't launch the sims 4 on my mac. It was working perfectly before this latest patch update today. Can someone point me in the right direction for help with this?

My game wont connect either and I have read through this entire discussion and tried everything with no luck. Restarting the computer, turning off origin in game, deleting and reinstalling origin. Any other ideas?

Hello
I am sorry that you are having this issue. Try launching your game. Then press the windows key to go to the desktop. Then log in to the website version of the gallery https://www.thesims.com/en_GB/gallery
Then try to connect to the Gallery and see if the issues remain.
I bought TS4 a few weeks ago and added a few packs since. The game is completely clean - no CC/Mods.
So, imagine my surprise when I tried out the in-game Gallery today and the pictures don't seem to want to load. Most of them show up with a green "wheel" circling and eventually turn into a red X.
Those that do show up - forget it. I click to download, screen freezes for a bit, then get an error message - "could not download, try later." Ugh.
In lieu of fighting the in-game gallery, I went with bated breath to the gallery in my web browser. Three lots and much frustration later, I found out that none of the times I pressed the "Add to My Downloads" folder worked.
There was absolutely NOTHING in the library in my game to indicate that any of them were there. No friendly "You just added a lot" message or such that is supposed to happen.
What am I doing wrong?
I am QUITE disappointed as one of my favorite aspects from TS3 was downloading lots to my library. The Maxis selection (while better than TS3) is limited. I can't imagine playing without being able to download lots.
Note: The "Allow Online" options are selected in Game Options, including allow CC, if this matters.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you so much, Simmers.
One question - not sure if my game has the latest update and if that would have any bearing? I am not getting prompts to update in Origin, but I don't know enough to say that means the game is fully patched.
Hello @brandi22
I am sorry that you are having these issues.
Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated.
Start a new game, then go to the gallery and see if the pictures load. The maxis lots and sims will be the only items in your library.
Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.
Then test to see if the Gallery issues remain.
Hello @brandi22
To check to see if your game is uptodate,go to games library in Origin, right click the sims 4 picture and click on the update option.
Try also making sure that the " include custom content " box is ticked in the advanced section of the gallery filter.
Hi rosemow, thank you so much for trying to help. I am on my tablet right now after a very long day *yawn*. I will check for updates in origin on my PC as soon as I can though. The custom content box is enabled. Hmm, I am stumped.

Hello
With your issues of the gallery pictures not loading correctly, try also doing the repairing of the game and resetting of the sims 4 folder like I suggested in the earlier post.

Thank you, Rose, I did not see that post from you above the other one and I can try that too.
I'm currently having this problem as well, where I'm not able to access the Gallery. When I start up my game, I don't have access to any of the online features, including the Gallery. I'd click on "Gallery" or "downloadable content" and it asks me to connect. I hit "connect" it gives me an error "Could not Connect - You must have The Sims 4 registered to your EA Account to access online features."
I'm currently on a chat with EA support about this, and if there is a solution, I will post it here if it helps. I've done all the usual troubleshooting, including removing my Sims 4 folder from My documents, clearing all caches, reinstalling Origin, flushing my DNS. The only change I've made to my game recently is purchasing and installing Cool Kitchen stuff pack during the last sale.

Just another few things to do if you haven't already done it,.
Shut down your computer completely. Start the computer again, then launch the game and see if that helps

Thanks @rosemow . It looks like my issue got fixed with the 3rd rep I spoke to. I asked what the issue was and they said it had to do with "server traffic" which sometimes happens, though I'm not sure why it's been happening since this past weekend. In any case, it's resolved and I'll be able to look for sims on the gallery again!
