@lisabee2 : Ah, I read @SilentWolf101 's Pets Rescue as well! (As you can see, I read -- and enjoy -- a lot of stories that feature animals, hahahaha!)
Sadly, my Reading Roundup from last Sunday is two days late, as my health problems have been most problematic (and this is why in the future it will no longer be Weekly Reading Roundup and simply "Reading Roundup", heh). In any event...
This edition was written for last week's National Police Week, and therefore looked at stories in the Stories and Legacies Index that have a law and order theme! Featured stories were The Case: An Interactive Story by @Charliimai , Codename: Danger and Cold Blooded by @Daijahv , F.I.S.H. by @Jes2G , Get to Work: Vignettes: A Detective's Life by @BBQPenguinWings , Hotshot Henry's Police Tales by @Simslover163 , Last I Saw Was Yellow by @Blackrain95 , Regrets and Mistakes by @Nory_05 , Sidelines: Sugar and Spice by @ra3rei , SCIS Crime Division and SCIS Scientists by @SilverDaybreak , and for the From the Archives segment, Let's Play: Silas Allender, Private Eye by @Xoxk9 and Miss V Detective by Simsophonique.
@CathyTea : There is definitely plenty of great stuff out there!
Doing things thematically comes down to the way librarians learn "readers advisory" in library science classes... if a reader enjoys a book of a certain genre, they will likely enjoy other books in that genre, so compiling a reading list of books that fall within a certain genre (say, cat mysteries) to hand out to a patron who is checking out Lilian Jackson Braun books can be useful. I guess old habits die hard? ^_^;; But then again, I've had a lot of the writers say, "Oh look, a lot of other people doing the same challenge I am, I should go check those out!" so it is definitely serving its purpose!
Reading Roundup for last week is finally finished! It's a short edition, but at least I got it done just before I leave on vacation for the remainder of the month!
In honor of Be a Millionaire Day last week, the theme was Rosebud Challenges, and those listed with the Stories and Legacies Index were featured, which include Letters from my Simself by @Charliimai , A Rags to Riches Story by @Chandier , The SIMple Life of Una Reign by @Charliimai , To Be a Sim-illionaire by @cully_c , and From the Archives, The Prospero Legacy: Rosebud Challenge by @ShadyLady_DQ and Rosebud Challenge by @Eddie Sims .
Today (or I guess rather yesterday, since it's already after midnight... meep) was Geek Pride Day, one of my favorite the of wacky and unique holidays, so my theme this week was stories inspired by geek-culture... however, I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow... to an anime convention! (You know, to get my geek on). Therefore, I won't be able to get any reading done, so there will be no Reading Roundup for this week. But, because that theme is near and dear to my heart, I'm not cancelling it... just... celebrating the Geek Pride a week or two late. ^_~ That edition will be going up sometime in early June!
A very belated Reading Roundup in honor of Geek Pride Day is finally out!
This edition featured those stories listed with the Stories and Legacies Index that would find a home within geek culture, whether it be science fiction, anime, video games, a popular fandom, or just a story that features geeks in a prominent role. This was a rather lengthy edition, which just added to how long it took me to get it completed! Featured stories and Let's Plays this time around included The Chains of Lyra by @InfraGreen , Ironbound by @Munterbacon , Island End by @GaiaHypothesis , Let's Play My Little Pony by @Spacey72659 , Ocean Wild: A Sims 3 Stardew Valley Story by @ValoisFulcanelli , Project A.N.I.M.E.: A Sort of Prettacy by @IchigoUsagi , The Poindexter Legacy by @Trick , Storytown by @Chandier , Time Lord Challenge: The Librarian by @Spacey72659 , Time Lord Challenge: The Counsellor by @Weathie , Travelers: A Pseudo-Sci-Fi Legacy by @thuggishsplicer , and for the From the Archives segment, The Forgotten Doors: A TS4 Time Lord Challenge by @commeuneplume , Let's Play the Sims 4: Get to Work X-Files by @Spacey72659 , Life After Riverdale by @swcheppes , Pixel Perfect: A Gamer's Legacy by Elocine , The Pokemon Rainbowcy by missmiserie , and Project Unity by @camimh .
I don't plan to have any "regular" editions of Reading Roundup over the summer, but am hoping to do some short "Summer Rewind" editions that will look back at previous themes and feature those stories which fit those themes but joined up with the Stories and Legacies Index after that edition was published. These (tentatively) are scheduled to be bi-weekly.
Thank you for mentioning my Life After Riverdale story! I'm really hoping to continue this. I just need to recreate a lot because that save got deleted when I upgraded laptops
