Thanks for the info. Although I've gotten a sim to level 10 of handiness, I've never worked toward any of the challenges. I usually upgrade to self cleaning on most plumbing and unbreakable in dishwasher, stereo and hot tub. Next military or science sim I play I'll have to try your suggestion.
@cwaddell ...
That normally works just as well on the backside if you upgraded all your stuff to self-cleaning anyway.
The items will continue to break until you have fixed 10 of them ... Then repair them for the last time.
Most people just don't notice that their stuff stops breaking in that situation.
I added a few comments for the other simmer who has recently bought the base game and is looking for ideas on how to play.
If they help anyone else ... That's great too.
I just got 5,000 Lifetime Rewards Points and I don't know which one is best.
In your situation I wouldn't use your points but save them and work toward a bigger reward.
For single sims starting out looking for a partner or for sim children born in game I usually spend the first 5000 points for observant so their socialization goes better. The reward I really work toward though is "attractive" so that socialization goes even better. If I start with a built in family though the reward I like to get is "steel bladder" (10000 points) so there is less conflict for limited bathroom facilities and less time wasted cleaning dirty toilets.
@Karritz Thanks! I'll try to save up to Stell Bladder, it's turned out to be a problem every time a repairman comes and he just leaves, because everyone has to use the broken toilet. :/
@BlackSand Thanks! The hunger issue is also another big issue for my Sims as when I try to garden, she just stops and eats, it takes away time for her to socialize.
@BlackSand Thanks for the helpful advise, Pablo is already on handiness skill four or somewhere around there. This should be helpful when my toilet, sink or bathtub breaks again.
@cwaddell Thanks for the advice, recently my sim got pregnant and it took a few real hours to raise her social bar high enough. The observant trait should be helpful the next sims I play.
@xyxnix Welcome to the thread and the game. Glad you are learning this on the fly and these helpful folks here are guiding you on your Sims journey
@BlackSand Thanks for the comments The World Adventures are a rich source of storyline. When I had Sierra's mother do her adventuring it was actually the only expansion I had. Lol Savannah made a career out of going to these places, and coming home and writing best-selling books about them. Lol I actually had her quit adventuring when she got pregnant. Maybe too soon cause she's got the itch again...
As for her middle daughter, Sierra is a pro athlete by profession and seems well suited to adventuring. She was in trouble a lot as a kid, very rambunctious, a bit of a tomboy (still is), went to college and got her degree in physical education. Her father (Savannah's husband) was a pro athlete, Sierra inherited her jock genes from him.
@CravenLestat Thanks for the comments I love that pic too. Thanks for that Sim's name too, I appreciate it. I have heard of Pangu's Axe and forgotten how to get to the adventure. I'm rusty and it's been quite awhile. I've never heard of the other two things you mentioned, the Master Thief Coin and the Horus Tear. Shadia's makeover is fabulous.
@lovespandas1 Great family photo! The girls look lovely.
Just some of my older pix here of Savannah when she was in Egypt. She loved Egypt, I think it was her favorite of the three destinations. Savannah is the granddaughter of a premade, Jamie Jolina from Sunset Valley.
Savannah with Satis Amin, who she later adopted along with Satis' brother Imsety
Good morning everybody, want to say I noticed how many players in the updates love and use World Adventures. That expansion does not get the love it deserves.
I'm pretty excited to start a new save; and do a WA adventure.
It sounds super duper fun!
@venusdemilosims Pangus axe quest is not called anything like that but starts as a quest called Something like "Confounded boulder" It is a chain of quests but when you get the axe you may have seen big boulders on your travels that you may have examined they block tombs and rooms but with the axe you smash them. Also the axe clears all rubble piles in one hit.The master thief coin gives you way more coins each time you get a pile of them. The horus tear is a item that goes in your inventory, you hit activate and it shows every artifact dig site on the map like the collection helper but for dig sites. The ancient coins are used to buy these things from special merchants in every town. They are easy to spot cause they have a map tag like a proprieter for showtime gigs it shows their face. Also they sell a awesome sleeping tent called Sultans tabernacle it is expensive but way worth it and sleep is much faster (It is like a portable house too.Usually during the day time the special merchants spend the day at the markets. The axe must be gotten from a quest the other things and much more are bought with ancient coins from the special merchant.

observant I also often get
then after 1 day of being sick they alowed to get simunity
beside that I go after the longdistance reward, fast learner, natural born cook... it all depds on teh sim and it is trait
I do try to have atleast 1 sim with no bill and fireprof home at all times.
Hi, guys!
I just created my first Sim who will complete the "Great Explorer" LTW.
I'll take a break from the Ephre legacy for a while.
So.. Meet Jenna Myner-Kylle. Her father, Tim was a world-famous explorer of all of SimEarth!
He found secret tombs; and showed the world the wonderful treasures he found. As soon as Tim got married,
his wife, Madeline, immediately disapproved of his long trips. As soon as they had Jenna, they both agreed that Tim should stay at home more. On his last trip, he went into a very dangerous tomb. After he got through the first door, the door closed in on him, and he was cursed by a mummy, and he was never to be seen again. Madeline was destroyed inside. So, Jenna decided she would carry on her father's legacy, and be just like him. Jenna will be the new best adventurer!
@Karritz Thanks! I'll try to save up to Stell Bladder, it's turned out to be a problem every time a repairman comes and he just leaves, because everyone has to use the broken toilet.
If you make your own Sim repair the toilet that builds handiness skill and then they can upgrade things and lots of things break and high handiness skill is good.

@venusdemilosims Awesome update I was wondering do you start in Egypt or get Pangus Axe first?
I always start by doing China and first getting the Axe before anything Else, very important item in the other places.Next master thief coin is a must to get all the other goodies faster.Third and also huge importance is the Horus Tear to find dig sites. The axe gets you to so many awesome secret tombs and hidden rooms.
Also the Sims name you forgot is Sima Zhi.
My favorite pic of yours is the one where she is coming out the dive well.Awesome screenshot.
It's good to get the eyes of Horus too. Left and Right eye. I don't get them often but I find them fun to have - especially if I give one to each of my two Sims.
I don't think rock star or film composer careers came with the base game. I think they came with Late Night expansion. But I also like to add the Friendly trait as it helps Sims socialise. Charismatic is good too but then they want to keep having parties and I don't like parties much.

Excellent - I never can remember and didn't google. What is the one that you go to the Plumbob theater back block - it might be Film Producer I'm thinking of.

Yeah the Film career, I think.
Jenna went on her first trip.
She went to the Tomb of Discovery.
She got the treasure..
And then adopted a new puppy while she was in Egypt.
Gotta save up to go back to Egypt again.
Now that I enabled pets to go on vacation, Johnny, the new puppy, will come with next time.

might not be named film music composer in english... but there is 2 branches in base game, rock and clasic.

it is hard to say what will be the best for a baby (unless you already have her life planed out)
you could try to roll a random trait and go with it

thats a nice combination... she be a talented sim
She must be a rockstar now.
Not really, but that would fit her.
or film music componist... dosn't that branch require logic?

Really? Let me google it and see.
It's actually basegame, the Rockstar career.

Yes, make her a ROCKSTARRR!
