Romance is definitely needed but is it only me who thinks that this is a weird time to release a romantic pack let alone it being an expansion but if it is an expansion maybe they will add Hotels which could make it an expansion… also what about if they patch in cars with this pack let’s remember cars came with nightlife expansion
The next EP will be released in November- beginning of December. There is no wrong time for romance, most Christmas movies are a about romance at Christmas time, I think a romance pack will be great. I do hope we will get some other pack, an SP or GP before that though. Kits are nice, but I would like some gameplay too.

Why do you think it's a weird time to do so? I'm curious, I couldn't think of anything weird in that respect.

I can see there being enough in a Romance Pack for a Game Pack (with CAS/BB and maybe a 5 lot world), but not an expansion pack. I mean, I could be wrong, but I just don't see romance systems, no matter how robust, as being a "big" enough thing to warrant it's own expansion pack based on what's been included in packs to date. I think it's too narrow a theme for an expansion pack, when compared to the existing game and expansion packs for Sims 4. I do think that even with Moschino and Paranormal Stuff as examples, it's too big for a Stuff pack, but big enough for an Expansion pack? I'm doubtful.
Yes, I have my prejudices here as a pack focused just on Romance has basically no appeal to me at all, though unlike some ideas that don't appeal, I don't think a romance pack would actively impede or otherwise disrupt my current gameplay. I'd just be more interested if it had something else as well ... and getting that something else is more likely with an Expansion pack than a game pack.
But then again, if it does come in an expansion pack, I can always wait for a sale.
I've seen many ppl say this but didn't all the sims game (even 1) get a romance expansion?
see to me the problem with all ts4 expansions until now has been that the themes don't feel focused enough like they used to be
it just feels like theyre doing bit of this and bit of that never completing a theme to level satisfactory
which just spawns disappointment and annoyance left and right because people wanted different things to be more focused on
like for example in case of snowy escape part of players wanted more japanese gameplay meanwhile other part is annoyed they didn't get more mountains stuff
or Cats and Dogs where part of players really wanted more animals and other part really wanted to use all that freaking sea that as of now serves no purpose whatsoever which is just so annoying considering its supposed to be one of the very few ts4 worlds with seaside experience
same goes for get together that is trying to be about million things at once from better pools to clubbing to german world to island living and yet it does none of it that well
but maybe this is just old ts1 hag speaking I just wish I could have a complete theme, at least for romance,so i didn't need 5 different packs about it....
and also i am very tired of waiting cause usually romance ep comes as one of the first eps and man ts4 really avoiding it

Hey not weird in a bad way I mean I wouldn’t be mad but it just seems like a pack that they would released in the summertime

Feels more like a Summer released to me During this time of the year I would probably expect
a generation EP don’t get me wrong the game definitely needs romance but as a EP I’m just wondering what else could they really add for it to be A game pack versus an expansion pack especially during the biggest time of the year

Looking over on the SimsWiki, Each of the "romance" expansions (Hot date, Nightlife and Late night) also introduced additional gameplay that wasn't inherently tied to romance, and none were actually exclusively Romance. About half (if not more) of what any given expansion introduced in their romance pack has already been introduced in the Sims 4 in other packs (Nightclubs, bowling alleys, downtown district, vampires...)
So even in previous games, their "romance" expansions weren't strictly romance.
I can't think of enough romantic features/stuff to fill an EP. Something wedding, ok. Romantic dining including proposal, ok. Slow dancing and walking holding hands. I'm not even sure I would buy a Romance pack if there were no other themes in it. I'd be fine with that though, as I don't mind skipping a pack occasionally.
Also - *if* we get casinos, I see them as a natural part of the hotel pack. Are they not normally a hotel feature?

Yeah this is what I’m saying what could be in a romantic pack that would make an expansion pack game pack I can see but who know that may not even be the next back for all we know it could be a traveling pack
there is definitely enough romance stuff i need to make a whole very stuffed and beefy ep so i don't really see where this is coming from
like theres so many gameplay systems theyd need to add for it so much animations and wedding related things and new interactions and....
*add simmingal writing essay about this again as if she has not done so about million times already*
but maybe i don't mind if its gp because well to be completely honest... i still think vampires adds more gameplay than 90% of the eps soo
Vampires is indeed one of the best packs, I doubt romance could ever add that much. My point though, was not to ditch the romance theme but that I really hope it will not be the only theme of such a pack. We're probably talking EP here, the pack should have room for lots of new content
@Nicolea, thanks for the insight. In my eyes, Romance is not linked to the summer season, but this surely is a very personal opinion.
I see that in previous games, Romance wasn't ever added on it's own, but also we didn't get so few gameplay features with a pack in previous iterations.
Quite frankly, most of what we get by now in a pack is buy/build stuff and CAS content - with a little bit of gameplay added on top. I'm not even sure if this little bit would be able to cover even half of my wishes for a proper Romance Pack. Those are (as I already posted elsewhere):
proposal at a table
holding hands while sitting at a table
play footsie at the table
more romantic social interactions
in-law relationships
make out on the bed
more wedding dresses, suits and hair
bachelor/ette party
throwing rice at weddings
congratulate options on marriage/proposal/new boy- or girlfriend
reworked dates
chemistry system
zodiac signs
an event where you can invite the families of both partners at the same time to get to know each other
photo booth
first impression sentiments
one sided relationships
a social interaction to introduce your partner to a family member
buyable chocolates, jewellry and stuff as gifts
making out on a rug besides the fire
picnic blanket with unique interactions
a faithful reward trait that can either be purchased or obtained via gameplay (could also by a lifestyle your Sims develop)

never forget couple dancing
(preferably more than one style)
and romantic preferences and additional couple activities and... * dark figures drag simmingal outside before it turns into a long essay*
also if there ever was seasons of love...
spring is like cute courting season fresh new love season where you got valentines and giving flowers and first loves and all that cutesy cutesy crush stuff
summer is more like looking for hotties at beach and parties and vacations and whatever for woohooy reasons season
autumn is reserved for casual mix of romance and woohooy stuff, workplace romances, meeting new people, catching your spouse cheating on you and cheating them back season
winter is the " its too dang cold outside so we must snuggle 24/7 with most random people" or " introducing bae to family because big family parties" or "im sad cause i had no bae this year so i suddenly get involved in romance" season
it all has its place on calendar
personally i do see them doing romance theme for spring more because of valentines day but also its not like it couldn't be theme all year around
I'd never forget that. The list is actually from a thread that asked us to mention everything besides couple dancing and cuddling in bad.
Besides I'd also love to see the interaction to ask your partners parents fo permission to marry. And for teens the ask permission to go on a date interaction.

yes dancing is a must and I would also really like the ask permission to marry.
Hotels are very basic things, you sleep and have breakfast in them. They would have to add a lot more gameplay to a game pack than hotels.
I think it's owning and running hotels that people are interested in, not merely visiting them.
I thought owning resorts in TS3 was fairly interesting, and could have been even more so. There's definitely potential there for an interesting system. Hiring staff, managing staff schedules, redesigning rooms and upgrading the grounds, adding entertainment options, changing the pricing, setting buffet menus and changing the pricing for that, reading reviews... essentially, they would probably build from the current retail ownership system. It was also a decent passive income stream in TS3, even if you weren't a particularly active manager.

I agree plus they could add stuff like more pool activities, buffet tables, and other entertainment objects.
I really want a romance pack. New romance and pregnancy interactions have been on my wishlist for ages (seriously, pregnant sims have basically no interactions. Not even the mother feeling her own belly.) I’m always taking screenshots of sims in romantic interactions. If the next pack isn’t romance, I hope it’s an occult.
@Kersiexx i agree with you (accept the occult packs, i have them, but dont use them, im not really a fan)
first year veterinary student by day, simmer by night (when uni work and studying allows it 😉) owner of all packs and kits 🤩 South African born and bred 🇿🇦

I’m an extremely story based player, so interactions like this really make the difference to me. Plus, like I said I take a *ton* of screenshots, so all those cute things are nice for that too. I want to get attached to a couples relationship, the ups and downs.
It’s fine your not a fan of occult’s, it’s up to personal preference. Personally, they are one of my favorite things about the game.
On the subject of the amount of content that would go into a "Romance-Only" GP, I found an old survey that describes a "Love Life" game pack:
I could see them releasing a GP like this, where the new/"paid" content would be in the form of the new Matchmaking skill, more BB/CAS items for weddings/dates, a new world with new dating locations, bachelorette parties, first crushes for kids, first dates for teens, throwing rice at weddings, etc.
And then there could be a free base game update that revamped BG Romance by adding highly-requested features from previous games like:
slow dancing
cuddling in bed/sofa
more kissing/make out interactions and animations
chemistry/attraction system
zodiac signs
making it so that wedding guests ACTUALLY SIT DOWN during the ceremony
Personally, I wouldn't mind having hotels/casinos incorporated w/ a Romance GP, but that's my preference as someone whose playstyle is equal parts building and gameplay. I've been DYING to be able to build resorts in TS4 so if that is what ends up happening I'll be a happy camper

Agreed with that last bit! Vampire gp is so much more entertaining then some expansions (I’m looking at you, Island Living). I still use it regularly.
