That is wonderful to hear. I kind of wish there was a text to speech software built into the game. I suffer minor hearing loss myself, so I always appreciate subtitles with movies and shows.

A long time ago I was in an explosion. I lost most of my hearing in my right ear and have been suffering from tinnitus ever since. Today, on a whim, I bought a pair of bone conduction headphones because I read a review from someone else that suffered hearing loss and tinnitus and they said they could hear very clearly. Well, it has been a very emotional day for me. For the first time, in a long time, I was able to hear things without the ringing. I started with music and couldn't believe all the different sounds I've never heard before. I had my kids call me and I heard their voices without the muffled sounds for the first time. I heard their voices. Their real voices. And I played the sims and I heard all the little background noises I've never heard. I'm crying. I've been crying for hours just listening to all the things I've been missing. I usually turn the main music of the game down pretty low because the ringing and muffled-ness of it gives me a headache, but I was able to actually listen to it. I listened to all of it. I watched all the TV channels and listened to all of the radio stations. I got a whole bunch of kids together and listened to them play the piano and violin very badly and scratchy in the same room. To actually hear it on my right side, in kind of a surround sound. OMG! GUYS I'M DYING OVER HERE!

If you're wondering what they're like, they sit in front of the ears and it creates a vibration near my ears. I hear the sound somewhere in the back middle of my head. If I close my ear canals, I hear much louder and more clearly, but with them open, I still hear clearly, but I also hear everything else around me and the ringing. But the sound it creates isn't muffled and I can hear over the ringing...I don't know if that makes sense. But I can hear. I like want everyone in the world to call me so I can hear them. I'm so happy and so overwhelmed. I had to take them off to charge them and I'm back to not hearing and it's so upsetting. I've never had a hearing aid that worked well and now I'm going to ask my doctor if they have hearing aids like this. I'm so excited at the prospect of hearing again.

Wow, this is quite a thing. You are so nice to share such a wonderful personal story. I too suffer from hearing loss and occasionally from tinnitus (my ears are malformed) but not to this extent! It is heartwarming to know that you found a solution. I hope you are able to find the hearing aids. That would be awesome!
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

My Plumbob is GREEN today :D

@Mstybl95 I'm so happy for you. I might try some of those too. I spent a lot of money on separate hearing aids and lost one in the street this week when I pulled my mask off. I'm looking for something I can use until I can see my Ear specialist after my second vaccination at the end of the month. <3

Wow, this was amazing to read about. I've had 8 concussions in my lifetime, causing me to go moderately to severely deaf in both ears. I like to play music a lot, but I haven't been able to lately without amps because I just can't hear anything without them. I've gotten very used to doing a lot of things by feel (like play the bass), but my video games never have any sound, and I can't watch any TV at all without subtitles. I miss being able to hear everything, and honestly your post has given me hope that maybe I'll be able to hear my Sims again! I'm so happy for you and thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I think these were around $180 so that's definitely something to consider. And they're great for calls and listening to movies and music. I was able to hook them up to the computer so I can hear all my games, too. But they definitely don't do what a hear aid could. I wish you luck while you wait for your appointment.

@Mizzila1297 I'm so sorry that you've been through that! I suggest going to try them out and keeping the receipt. I wasn't sure if they would work for me so I kept the box and everything intact as much as possible. Fortunately, they did. The ones I got are called Aftershokz Aeropex and I bought them at Best Buy in the states. Now I must also warn you to keep your expectations in check. My step-mom has the same condition as me and these did not work for her, however, she has had surgery on her ear and I never have. So if you have had any kind of surgery, they may not work. I was very sad to hear that she still could not hear. I wish you the best of luck and hope with all my might that they do work for you. Please come back and let me know if you tried them and if you were able to hear.

I have to say this is probably the best post I have seen on this forum since I joined. I'm so happy for you and I hope your doctor can find a hearing aid that works as well, if not better, for you. Thanks so much for sharing this.

@Mstybl95 - I have tinnitus and hear buzzing all the time except when driving. Mine isn’t as severe as yours, I can hear things fine, but that buzzing is annoying.

I’m glad you found something that helps. Later this year I am going to have it checked out to see what can be done for it.

Keep us update on how you are doing.

Thanks again everyone! I have been enjoying all the sounds lately and I made an appointment with an ENT to try some new hearing aids. Wish me luck!
