In terms of The Sims I've decided that platforms, Sabacc, becoming a Scoundrel and Rock Climbing are the 4 best things that happened to me in 2020.
This is my main guy in my Snowy Save. He's the Captain of the Bear Squad, a bunch of adrenaline seeking mountain specialists including rescuers and researchers. They all have military training. My guy's name is Irish (because he's Irish) and sure look at his smug face: He absolutely loves rock climbing.
Those climbing walls in Fitness Stuff make sense now. Could/Should they have been part of a pack like this? I don't care. I know folks are talking about recycled animations...but seriously...only a minimal amount of the fitness wall animations have been used. It makes complete sense to add these, plus they've been tweaked to suit the rock wall climb. However, the additional action while sims are climbing the rock walls goes way beyond the actions performed on the machine. They are really good. The meticulous climbing interaction...I just love that one. When the sim pauses. And exhales. And you see him contemplate where to put his foot or hand next. The rock climbing skill and interactions are just really well executed! I'd watch my sims climb those rock walls indefinitely.
In fact, hiking and climbing is really all I've done with this pack so far. I messed around in CAS for a bit, built a mountain research center and began to train my troops.
I haven't done any skiing.
I haven't done any snowboarding.
I haven't done any sledding.
I haven't been to any of the festivals.
I haven't had hot pot.
I haven't even reached the summit yet.
My sim did a little dance with that happy, giant green Marshmallow man. I don't know how that happened. But it did.
I absolutely love the windy mountain plateaus with those tiny snow tornadoes and the sound of rolling Thunder...I keep missing my mountain expedition objectives...because I spend all my time up there observing the changes in weather. The other expedition members are getting really cranky with my sim dude leader because he's just wandering around in a happy daze and nobody gets anything done.

Speaking of rock climbing, a lightbulb just went on in my head.... I'm going to build a two-story basement gym underneath the pre-built mountain onsen lot to accommodate the rock climbing wall from Fitness Stuff. Do hard workouts downstairs to increase your climbing skills... and then go back upstairs to relax your sore aching muscles in the naturally fed hot spring. Maybe I'll also add in the new rectangular hot spring down there as well when the weather is too nasty outside to use the outdoor one.

Haha! I love Sabacc as well. I went around to most of my pubs and lounges, a couple of night clubs, to put some Sabacc tables in. I need to have a constant flow of Scoundrel activity in my game.
This is such an amazing pack. There are so many things I'm enjoying. The animation when they sit down and get up from this table is just the best.
I thought I was the only one admiring this๐ ๐ ๐
I finally just now got around to trying the table today because I've been so busy with other stuff in this pack. Including building a cabin that took 2 real life days lol. But it was worth it. The mountain view from the cabin while eating at this table is breath taking. I'll try to post a pic if imgur will cooperate today.
But when I saw the animations at the table I was throughly impressed ๐
The view turned out amazing. It's my favorite area of the cabin. I can't wait till snowfall or a storm lol
And I agree with platforms being one of the best things if 2020. I'm normally not a builder but this thing had me trying all kinds of things I never thought of lol. And I spent hours trouble shooting platforms I think I'm finally getting it.
So I made a cozy sunken living room area with platform stair going around the back to the second floor.
Sorry it's a bit dark. I guess I should have added more lights but in game I love that dim, romantic lighting atmosphere lol

It suddenly looks like a more serious game.
I just started playing and my sims are taking on their first ski slope.
I love how they que up for a run and can do it repeatedly.
I see why they teleport, so you can get more runs in.
Haha, cheers! In my game Sabacc + Scoundrel = Default. No save exists without those very crucial elements. If one of my main sims is not doing missions in Batuu I'll use cheats to make him a scoundrel anyway. Captain or not. Scoundrel all the way.
I am finally playing Snowy Escape.
My first task was to provide a vacation home for six sims.
I copied the Ito house to this location and added more rooms.
Meadow Thayer trying out some SE wear.
My sims are sims from the various neighborhoods who attended Smuggsworth College Prep school.
Three of them are now at Uni. The other three are waiting to rotate in. They are now all on vacation at Mt Komorebi.
I had to sneak a look at the ski slopes.
Awesome.
Socks.
I need to provide socks.
I knew I wanted to put an ice skating rink somewhere.
Placement is limited, so I opted to put one in this fancy vacation rental.
Japanese folk music is playing over the speakers and it is really selling the environment.
Next day.
I probably should have someone confiscate all the lightsabers.
However... I am getting a sort of Kill Bill vibe here.
It's time to explore the world.
Starting with the slopes.
I love that they form a Que, and you can make them make continuous runs.
First up is Olivia.
Wonderful.
There is something about Yuki.
She seems to do well at everything she tries, like she has a hidden luck trait.
Everyone else fell at the end of their run.
It's probably good to have that lap top in her inventory.
With this many sims, I can give her something to do while I focus on others.
That does look like it is courting death.
They tried hiking the following day.
I probably should have picked a destination instead of hiking around.
I like the atmosphere of the bar, but it's unfortunate that it does not serve Japanese food.
They hit the slopes again at the end of the day.
I will save mountain climbing for the next trip.
Olivia and Meadow opted to do some ice skating when they arrived at the rental.

@Babykittyjade ... Sometimes I just sit back and admire my Sims too. I have not had any game play; I've just been taking building breaks to read and look at everyone's Snowy Escape post and pics.
I will not mention how many real life days I've been working on my new residential build on the 50 x 50 residential lot. Yet, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel since I only have the upstairs interior and landscaping left to complete. Then off to CAS to create the family.
@AncientMuse ... @LiELF .... @CAPTAIN_NXR7 .... I didn't know the Sabacc tables earned actual simoleons outside of Batuu. You've given me a great idea when I can get back around to my Star Wars strip.
@CAPTAIN_NXR7 ... When you described the Captain of the Bear Squad pausing while climbing the mountain and exhaling, I thought to myself--number 1, this is amazing; and, number two--I can't wait to see this. Its little things like this that make the game all the more enjoyable.
I am having so much fun with this pack!! I love the hiking and have tried skiing a bit as well. Neither one of theses sims is going to do climbing but I have a girl that I just want to do a PT with who is going to rock the climbing-stuff.

I then moved one of the mountain rental homes where the bar used to be. I am converting the rental home into a Japanese restaurant.

Wait how did you get the Karaoke Machine to fit on that platform?
I love the new Respectful Introductions and the Proper trait. I use them for my old-fashioned Sim, Jessica Kringle.
I really like them as well! I have several Victorian Sims that I want to switch in this trait with so there's more personality contrast with my brazen "Ladies of the Evening", lol.

Unfortunately the Nishidake elders will be moving on to a retirement village while their granddaughter remains here and adds four roomates.
I made a copy of the house for five males.
I will probably download them from the gallery.
I've added 3 roomates to Kaori's house.
I need to edit Akari (left) some more.
Kotori's a hot head.
Her name is too similar to Kaori's.
She's mad because Akari is wearing her outdoor shoes inside.
Akari was embarrassed, so I had them both discuss their moods.
Akari got up and changed into slippers.
Ageha wanted to talk to little Miki.
I was going to remove the Ito's in order to turn their house into a spa.
I can't bring myself to remove them. I will just give up one of my community lots.

You sure can! It's just an object (2 versions I believe) that you can place on any lot, in any world.

Being on vacation is helping a lot with that. FREEDOM!
