I upgraded from a regular household desktop with integrated graphics to a gaming desktop with dedicated graphics 1 1\2 years ago & the difference is amazing. It still takes my breath away sometimes!
Same here. I have a nice gaming rig I bought less than a year ago and I'm very pleased with it. First time ever using Ultra and I'll never go back, lol. I run 60-80 fps and needless to say, game is smooth. I would recommend getting a nice rig to begin with, they last longer and look sharper and totally worth the money.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.
It's for computers that don't quite meet requirements and struggle to run the game. Laptop Mode puts S4 into a "reduced rendering mode" designed to run the game more efficiently.
Laptop Mode is misleadingly labeled. It’s not some special mode designed for laptops. It’s just a mode that forces the game to use lowered settings. If you have a powerful laptop then you most certainly should not use Laptop Mode. Meanwhile if you have a very low end desktop then you may consider using it.
When you enable Laptop Mode, post-processing is disabled, shadows are completely disabled, terrain quality is lowered, and shader quality is reduced to the lowest.
I remember setting the sims 4 to ultra graphics on my brother's desktop for the first time and almost legit crying at the difference lol. Unfortunately, he told me to uninstall it by the end of that summer because it was taking up too much space on his computer.
I plan to upgrade pcs one day so just gotta keep being patient until I have the funds.

With some settings at ultra (all available? I can't remember... Maybe I'm running in ultra).
I play in a laptop but play without laptop mode. It runs smoothly.
