Once you have your shelter if none of the two you meet first and stay in contact with become your partner, then you are allowed to choose another sim that crosses your path, but only one until you are "rescued so to speak" and get back to civilisation. In other words you don't have any other contacts besides the two you choose to befriend (the survivors) or the one you come across that does become your partner while on the island. You can't go anywhere to socialise as such, to meet someone until after you have your partner moved in and all the lots are built.
For eg. If the two you keep in contact with do not become compatible, then you find another that you like the look of and choose that one, you cannot change his or her aspirations or anything until they have moved in. So if you come across one that doesn't like children, or non-flirty etc, you have to put up with that until you've wooed them enough to get them to move in so you may then choose to change their aspirations.
You don't need to populate the lots as long as you have built them. I chose to give Liberty Lee a house as she had no ties and it fitted with my story. I'll probably wait until my children have become young adults and move them into the other lots.
I built the other house and some random old guy moved in but it's fine because I finished building all the lots! Right at the end of winter too. They should be happy to get rescued soon!
Winter is really cold. It isn't really warmer inside the house so they spend a lot of time warming up around the fire. The garden is getting out of control as well, but with the weather the way it is they can't really replant anything to make it more orderly.
In fact, it's a good thing they have a store of fish, because it's so cold Pranav can't even fish. He spends his time collecting things around the island and looking for more wreckage debris to float up. It's slowed down drastically but he can still find good stuff sometimes.
The two of them have gotten more comfortable with each other outside of their awkward romance as well. Alice is the better cook of the two of them but...well, that isn't saying much really. She isn't even sure how she makes such a mess since all their meals are just salad and fish anyways.
She's been a bit preoccupied to be fair though. It's even more obvious once Wintersfest rolls around that Alex is nowhere to be seen. They search the entire island but she just isn't there. It casts a bit of a pall over their Grand Feast, but they all pass around presents. All handmade gifts of course.
It isn't long before Alice is aging up into a full adult as well. She's still worried about Alex, but she's got another concern as well. She really wants to be a mother, but even without bringing it up to Pranav she isn't sure it would be a good idea. After all, her child would grow up all alone on this island, that would be terrible. Then again, it isn't like she and Pranav are going to be lucky forever if they keep going the way they are going so maybe it would be better to plan the baby...But then she would have to give birth without any medical help at all! Her head keeps going in circles.
It doesn't help when Pranav gets down on one knee and proposes to her! She'd thought she wanted to be married to him...
But it just doesn't feel right! He has a family already! If only she knew what Pranav knew-that his wife had already died. Maybe he should have mentioned that to her at some point, but it was awfully awkward. "By the way, my wife is most certainly dead by now, so we aren't cheating at all."
Things are pretty awkward for a bit but they recover. They have a serious talk and get lots of things out of the way. Pranav assures her that there's no way his wife is still alive-he's not married at all. He agrees that it's likely they'll have a child sooner or later, so it's probably best if they plan for the child so they aren't caught unawares. He doesn't propose again right away though.
A project that they've been working on is finally finished. Neeshem couldn't have missed it's construction, since it was built at the highest point of the island, but he'd been busy making it through winter on his own. Alex was still missing, or she likely would have wondered as well. Alice and Pranav had thought it would be good to have a community area, even if their community was tiny. He'd found a collection of books and some hadn't been too badly damaged, so they decided to build a library. Then, with talk of a child, they decided to make it a combination library/school.
Neither one admitted to the other that they still hoped to be found. Maybe not rescued, they were pretty happy on the island if only they had contact with the outside world...
I probably should have but I just ignored him. I'll probably kick him out for story anyways. Actually, I forgot to turn the community lot into a public lot and a huge family moved into the library, so I had to evict them and change the lot...Which worked out since I didn't realize until they were rescued and libraries require computers, so they're allowed to have them now!
Though they weren't sure of the exact date, Alice, Neeshem, and Pranav had celebrated New Years. Alice had made a resolution to lose weight. She's not sure how she put it on, what with a diet of fish and salads, but put it on she did. Pranav decided to make his resolution to advance in his aspiration. As an Angling Ace he managed that in just a few days!
Alice is still working away. She'd decided that since they have all the necessities for survival, she wants to make things more comfortable. So she's going to upgrade their home!
She's quite proud of the house. She's already started working on Neeshem's as well, after talking about what he wants and making a few modifications so that she can do it. Neeshem and Pranav did almost all the work on the house because...
Alice is pregnant! Looks like all that talk about a baby happening sooner or later brought on a baby! Both parents are excited but worried too. After all, the closest thing they have to a doctor on the island is the scout training Neeshem and Alice had-and that was just basic first aid!
They do know she shouldn't do heavy lifting, so she sticks to gardening and some easy material work on her workbench. Neeshem and Pranav have to do all the heavy lifting, and building Neeshem's house is a dangerous task in itself-it's pretty big.
Alice and Pranav are having dinner on the porch one evening when Alex runs up out of the darkness! After lots of talking over each other and hugging, Alex finally explains why she disappeared (after lots of hugging and congratulating on the baby). She'd decided to just swim out into the ocean to try and find someone to save them! She figured since she was a vampire she had the best chance of surviving. She was actually only out in the ocean for a bit over a day before being found, but it turns out the reason they were never rescued is because the island chain they're on is well known as a death trap in the fall and winter storms, so ships tend to steer clear. They must have been pushed into it and nobody thought to check. A whole flotilla of boats-with rescue workers and their family!-are anchored just off shore.
They have everyone go up to the library, since it's the biggest area with a roof on the island and it's still raining the next day when everyone disembarks on the island. Alice is overjoyed to see her big sisters Pearl and Mara again. Sadly her brother Octavio passed away, but they assure her he never stopped looking for her.
Pranav is delighted because not only does he see his daughter, all grown up now, but he meets his son for the very first time! Everyone stays on the island for a few days, bunking in the library. They hash out a bunch of details, but everyone that had been stranded on the island doesn't want to leave now. It's their home! They do set up weekly boats that'll come by with materials and things to trade, or to take the island residents to the mainland for an outing. They won't be able to come by in the fall and winter, but by then the houses will be nice and warm and comfortable. Best of all, Alice is able to see a doctor! She and the baby are doing great.
Because it would take so long for Alice to get to a hospital, she and Pranav have a serious discussion about what to do. The choices are to either stay on the mainland so that she can get to the hospital, or have a doctor stay on the island. They eventually decide to have a doctor come to the island, because after being stranded for so long they're both a little scared to actually leave.
Life being what it is, Alice goes into labor the one day the doctor isn't there! He'd had to go back to the mainland to assist on an emergency, but had promised to be back the next day. He left an emergency phone since the island wasn't equipped just yet for routine phones. Alice yelled for Pranav who was down fishing at the beach, and he hurried back at the panic in her voice.
Luckily he was able to keep from panicking and remembered the instructions. He got her into a tub of clean fresh water and dialed the doctor on the emergency phone to walk them through the birth of their child. Hopefully nothing would go wrong!
Just a few short hours of labor and little Mack Driftwood was born, happy and healthy! The doctor said he would be by the next day to check both mother and son out but that everything sounded like it was just fine and that the two of them should make sure to rest. Pranav decided he needed to rest too after going through that!
Mack just so happened to be born on Love Day, and even though they were supposed to be resting, Pranav couldn't help but surprise Alice with a gift he had gotten her.
New clothes! He'd gotten some for himself too but his were far less impressive than hers. Besides, Alice loved clothes and she adored being able to be fashionable again. It was the perfect icing on top of an already perfect day. After all, no matter how much she loved clothes, clothes couldn't top a happy healthy son!
Contact with the outside world meant they were able to start making their house a comfortable home. A brand new kitchen was one of the first things they got.
A weeder was probably the first. It meant Alice spent a lot less time doing the back-breaking work of weeding, which meant she was able to finish Alex's house. It also had another benefit.
They were expecting another child! So now she wouldn't have to labor in the garden so long and this would hopefully be a less stressful pregnancy. In all the excitement of being rescued and having their first child, they forgot to obtain contraceptives! Oops!
Alice actually makes a load selling hand-made wooden items. Especially bath tubs. Sims on the mainland go crazy for them! She only needs to make a couple to fund some pretty big improvements on the island. They plan to finish furnishing their house and Alex's and Neeshem's. Then maybe they'll do something else.
Here's what their house looks like so far!
I'm pretty happy with the outside. The footprint of the house is small enough they still have plenty of yard and room for the garden.
The downstairs. It has the children's rooms (it's almost like they knew they would have two LOL) a bathroom, and the kitchen/dining. Which is downstairs because at first most of their furniture was there!
So the living area is upstairs. It's a pretty new addition so it hasn't really been seen in the story. The master bedroom and a future master suite are upstairs as well.
Neeshem's house is big and fancy but basically empty inside. It has all the basics required but it isn't really furnished. (Technically I have everything built and somebody living in all the residential lots but I'm not staying I'm done until they are properly furnished)
Alex's house is just as empty inside as Neeshem's. It's a dark brick with stained glass to help keep out the sun, since she's a vampire. It does look pretty gloomy though because of that, which really doesn't fit her personality!
The other residential is still just a shed but I've got plans for it! Alice just needs to make that moola. Poor Pranav isn't very good at making money. He averages about 1000 a day with fishing, while Alice can make that with a single bathtub and she can make several a day! Pranav makes up for it in taking care of the chores around the house though, so he's forgiven.
So you've nearly completed the challenge then, you've done well. It's getting into that crazy season again, I understand. Everyone is becoming busier as the end of the year draws near, @TheAmazingLee .
I think I'm nearly done, yea. It's fun to keep building the island up though.
Mack is a lovely baby, but he is also a very demanding one. It's a good thing Pranav is able to spend a lot of time caring for him.
Even in summer storms batter the island chain, though not nearly as bad as the fall and winter storms. Alice is the money maker of the house, her hand carved, ornate furnishings selling for huge amounts of simoleons.
Before they know it, Mack has grown into a toddler and is able to wander about the home. He's a silly little boy and always making his parents laugh.
Not everything is rosy in the household. Pranav decides to ask for Alice's hand in marriage again, but she once more says no. Pranav is too upset to ask her why they can't get married this time, and Alice can't help but be thankful for it. She's not quite sure what the answer should be, she just doesn't feel it's right to marry Pranav, despite how much she loves him.
Little Mack is oblivious to the problems between his parents. Especially when they adopt a little puppy for him. They name the canine Merlin, and before long Mack and Merlin are inseperable.
Besides the hand carved furnishings Alice makes, both her and Pranav are well known for the delicious produce they garden, and the delicate flowers they grow. There's even been some talk about official contracts, but nothing yet has come from that.
Pranav still dabbles in art but he has to admit that he doesn't have the talent for it. Perhaps with a lot of work he could get better, but why put in the effort this late in life when he can be more productive doing other things?
For instance, some of the fish he catches in this region are worth quite a bit of money. Especially since he can now trade the best catches for simoleons to purchase food other than fish.
Even working the flowers they grow into arrangements is a better use of his time, though he isn't quite as profitable as fishing. It is, however, something he can do in the harshest parts of the winter.
Alice is working in the garden when she once again goes into labor. Pranav panics like before, but luckily this time the doctor is actually on the island. Pranav just has to run down to Neeshem's where he's staying to get him.
The doctor has him calmed down before they even get back inside the house, sending Pranav off to tend to Mack while he handles Alice.
Pranav does his best to keep Mack calm and distracted. To be fair, the toddler is much less worried than his father!
In even less time than it took for Mack to be born, they welcome their second son, Wesley Driftwood.
A household with a toddler and a baby is a hectic household, and Alice is chagrined to have her older son sleeping on the floor more often than she likes. Luckily Merlin grows into an adult dog and doesn't require assistance down the stairs any longer.
Jogging is all well and good, but Alice thinks yoga is a better way to get in shape. It doesn't require running all over the island for one, and she's close to the bathtub for a nice soak after her workout for another.
Alex is happy to come over and help out around the house sometimes. Mostly she just does dishes but sometimes she'll watch Wesley for a bit so that Alice and Pranav can focus their attention on Mack for a little while.
Before they know it, little Wesley has grown into an inquisitive toddler. With two toddlers running amok, things seem more hectic than ever.
It gets a little more chaotic when they introduce Honey into their family. It wouldn't be fair for Mack to have a pet and not Wesley, after all!
Alex and Neeshem's houses are done. In Fall I'll have Alice go visit them to get some nice pictures. They aren't extensive but certainly they are better than a shack! During fall/winter I plan to have the third residential lot finished up and pretty up the community lot some. Then I'll be done! Technically I think I've actually already completed the challenge since all four residential lots are built, as well as the community, but I don't like leaving a shack on one of the lots, haha! I want it to all be propery.
Ah! The twins are so cute! I can't wait to see what got left in the garden! You have such a cute family. Was it hard having twins? I had a bit of a hard time with just having them close in age, and barely managed to get them both skilled enough to be happy toddlers.
Yes very hard and totally unexpected, but Libby often popped around and she helped out too. Love the full autonomy in the game, it helps at times, @TheAmazingLee
It really does! Alex would come over frequently on mine but I think the sun started getting to her so now she rarely stops by unannounced.
Although they plan on using the clothesline and washtub as often as they can, the weather in Fall means they'll probably have to use their new washer and dryer.
Alice took her family over to Neeshem's to visit and meet his new wife, Melinda. She moved to the island just at the beginning fall. The weather wasn't too bad so far so there were still one or two boats that would make the dangerous journey.
Not long after meeting Melinda is was time to throw a birthday party. Alice woke up early to make the cake. There were some problems, such as Wesley rummaging through the trash, but she did manage to finish in time.
They went to Alex's house, so that she wouldn't have to go out into the sun to attend the party. Pranav aged up into an elder while Mack grew into a hot-headed little child with a desire to be a whiz kid.
Not long after Honey grew up into a pretty big dog!
She was still just as gentle with Wesley and the two spent hours cuddling.
Since sending the kids to a school on the mainland wasn't possible during these seasons, Pranav and Alice took their schooling int otheir own hands. While they would often study at home, sometimes it was easier to focus at the library. Especially since it had been designed to double as a school!
They almost didn't finish in time, but Alice was able to get the finishing touches up just before a new resident made the dangerous boat trip to the island-likely the very last boat at all, since the winds were beginning to gust just like when her ship had crashed.
It just so happened to be Harvestfest when the new resident arrived, so they all decided to have the meal at the new boarding house.
Terra was a newly graduated doctor who had decided to move to the island as it's resident doctor. Since the population was so low she was also going to double as the caretaker for the boarding house, which would be used when people came to visit.
Honey came across an angry squirrel and got sick, but there wasn't a vet to take her to. Or a place to set up the equipment for a vet. Poor Wesley was very upset, but Honey just slept almost all day.
She was still sick when his birthday came around and he grew into a perfectionist with the aspiration of being a social butterfly. Alice was working hard to make a place where they could set up the equipment to care for animals.
---
Whoo, fall is done! I just need to make a little more to finish up the library and I'll be happy!
Obviously we have the boarding house.
It has six rooms and two bathrooms, along with the kitchen/dining/living area. It also has a small apartment for the caretaker.
Upstairs is a shared storage area for the island that has tons of supplies.
Alice's house got brightened up some so that it wasn't so dark looking.
Inside is a one bedroom one bathroom home that has a surprising amount of space for hosting.
Neeshem and Melinda's house looks the same on the outside.
Inside they have a spacious downstairs that includes a bedroom and bathroom, as well as a half bath.
While upstairs they have the master suite and a small loft area.
It's not done but so far the library is this single building on that huge lot
It has the main library area which also includes some activities and a public computer. There's a principal's office (though there is no principal yet), toddler, child, and teen rooms and a single bathroom.
Fantastic finish to Shipwrecked! Congratulations, @TheAmazingLee You are the first one to finish. I will have your badge to put in your siggy shortly. It will be large but you can reduce it to the size you would like and then put it in your siggy if you would like to.
@Jendowoz0612 Maybe one day, very tempting since I do have outdoor retreat and don't even play it much! Possibly will try because I love beta testing new challenges also!

Ah thank you! It was a fun challenge and a nice break from the legacy style I've been playing!
Here's the pictures of the finished library, about the second day into winter.
The outside isn't so empty now. Plenty of room for kids and dogs to play!
The second building is a little vet clinic. No veterinarian since it's a library lot, but at least they have a way to treat their ill pets during the later seasons!
Hi @Jendowoz0612 and anyone else trying this challenge or thinking about trying it. I'm getting towards the end of my try at it and posted a little on Jen's blog. I decided to elaborate about it here with some screenshots/story/text, but when it was all said and done, there's 20 screenshots so far. I know that's really not a lot considering my Sim is getting close to the finish line. But I hadn't intended to blog about it or anything so didn't take very many. Still, 20 is too much for this thread, I don't want to spam it, so I wrote captions for the images in imgur.
Here's a link to the album if you'd like to check it out:
Here's one screenshot though of my challenge Sim, Olivia Devereux. She started out with the Freelance Botanist aspiration, but has since completed it and is now working on Angling Ace. Her traits are: Active, Loves Outdoors and Family Oriented. Her backstory for the challenge is in the above album too.
The first half of this image is how she looked when she was first shipwrecked. All her outfits were those jogging clothes since she was jogging on deck when the ship sank. The second half is how she looks today wearing her Cold Weather outfit. I noticed while comparing the two she's actually gained a little, tiny bit of weight. I'm surprised since all she's eaten is fresh produce and fish. lol
Anyway, I hope you like the screenshots and her story. I'll keep the album updated and post here when I've done so. Thanks for reading and Thank You Jen for creating this challenge, I absolutely LOVE it!

Here's the pictures of the finished library, about the second day into winter.
The outside isn't so empty now. Plenty of room for kids and dogs to play!
The second building is a little vet clinic. No veterinarian since it's a library lot, but at least they have a way to treat their ill pets during the later seasons!

Here's a link to the album if you'd like to check it out:
Shipwrecked Socialite
