I'm not the best at it (I can't tell you the amount of times I forget to keep track of votes) but coming up with the setup for the game has been fun. I like doing that.

If you make a mistake with the votes you're corrected so no real damamge is done anyway

It's usually a mish-mash of advice from more experienced players, at least in my case. There are a lot of things to consider, but probably the most important thing is to make it fair and fun, which includes preventing ways for players to break the setup by exploiting a loophole.

Um. I've only done it once, I'm actually still in the process of tweaking it.
Mainly I spammed Sonschi with Ideas until I got something I liked and worked from there.
I always think of roles I want in a custom setup and try to balance it around those roles.

And I'm sure most people won't mind so much if it's not perfectly balanced as long as it's fun, especially if it's your first time making one.
Games like Great Idea mafia can be fun, I'm pretty sure there was never a balanced one in the history of ever.
My point isn't 'just throw a load of roles in without thinking about it' mind you, just it doesn't have to a perfect game for it to be good.
But that makes DeKay sad.
I mean, I guess it would be fine, hasn't happened in awhile. Plussss scum do have to get rid of the threats, that's their entire goal.
