I always build a fence around my property and lock the gate. That pesky mascot cannot get in and thus will go away Problem solved

Two options -
Option 1: Build a fence around your Sims lot. The time portal will land on a community lot.
I just... kill mascots I like them they give me a way to vent my frustration without killing useful sims. And when I play poor sims I sell the university basket for $. Or when I play a witch sim, I add them to my family and kill them so my house becomes haunted.
Soon after I started playing Sims 3 I would play a female child sim with her parents. By the time she became a young adult she would have friends, skills, happiness points and money from her parents. I liked that starting point for my young adult sim (this was before I knew about cheats). Even earlier I had developed a fondness for Mortimer so often my sim would try to hook up with him.
One time when my sim and Mortimer had become partners as new young adults he asked my sim to move in with him. When my family moved in with the Goths the Frio brothers were already living in the household. It was my first time playing a household of 8 sims and was a nightmare at first. From the beginning Jared was mean to everyone but I could tolerate it. After Gunther, Cornelia and my sim's parents died Mortimer and my sim started having kids - three boys. Connor was frustrating because he would often forget what he was supposed to do but on his own he was great with the kids. Jared on the other hand seemed to pick on the kids more and more. That's when I started to hate him. I would send him to the park and leave him just to get him away from the kids. When he died I was happy and relieved. I was sad when Connor died.
Since then I have never felt inclined to waste my time playing Jared.
A rebuttal from Jared's biggest fan (or his only one it seems... )....
Jared is really a mister nice guy, he's just misunderstood....
He loves Jane his kiddo with Claire...

But then again...the second I put him with my Sim Julia, he turns into a puppy dog (even with his original traits which I never change), something about Julia tames Jared.
@cwaddell@Charlottesmom The first time I ever encountered Jared, I was playing with a YA married couple. It was like the 2nd or 3rd sim day & Jared rang the doorbell. I had the wife answer the door and Jared immediately started hitting on her! They'd never even met before that either! Since I was still a nooby I thought maybe he was a neighbor & that's why he'd come over in the first place. When I found his house, it was on the other side of town!

Ah, but you can sell that (for a good bit of money, too) if you don't want your sim to go to the future, and Emet only spawns after your sim investigates the time portal. So you can sell it, it will stay gone in that save & you'll never even see Emet.
So, since inanimate non-sim objects are now fair game... I really hate the weather stone!
It spawns on a public lot & can't be sold. Only supernatural sims can use it, well ok, I kind of get that but, it still spawns even if you have no supernatural sims in the save. That would even be perfectly tolerable if you could just ignore its presence in your town...but no! It puts a little tag on your screen showing you where it is all the time, which is especially annoying when your sim can't do anything with it except "view". And of course the most annoying thing about it....if you delete it, it just respawns! Grrr...

Yeah, it tends to spawn right in the middle of a parking lot, or some other very much in the way place. But I don't have to put up with it in my games, thanks to NRaas mods. I set the Traveler mod to not allow it to spawn, but since it's already there in a new game by the time I get my mod settings done, I still have to remove it. But Master Controller makes that very easy. I follow the map tag, click on the ground near it, choose "objects stats," select it, confirm that I want to delete it, and it's gone for good.

I used to HATE Thornton Wolff, he hated everyone who is a kid, had a kid or ever was a kid..it was impossible to befriend him. Once I actually played him he became a favorite, it's easy to work around his horrid traits. Never played the Andrews family, I might just have to do that.
In my game Betty Simovitch died while I was playing another household. She was still a teenager and I was so sad because I wanted her and Bob Newbie to get married when they grew up. That also happened with Mortimer Goth so Bella Bachelor ended up becoming Bella Langerak instead of Bella Goth.
I didn't exactly hate VJ Alvi but he always had me wary whenever I played that family. He was so unpredictable!
I'm probably biased because of the small criminal ring in my game atm to say any police sim, but despite them arresting my sims 24/7 they never turn up soon enough if my sims get robbed!
Otherwise I'd say Justine Keaton, not because of personality but because countless sims have become homewreckers in my saves because Marty is one of the few sims in sunset valley with okay genetics.

If I may jump in here, I have a similar issue with cooking plumbots. Is there some internal setting where plumbots are vegetarian? My cooking plumbots constantly cook 90% vegetarian meals.

Butlers cook any time a sim in the household starts to get hungry. I don't think the meter needs to turn yellow even just if it is less than half full. So if the baby gets hungry the butler will fix a meal (at least that's the way it worked the last time I had a butler years ago). That butler only needed to care of 2 adult sims. What I did was have one of them start talking and interacting with the butler while other ate. then they would switch places. Your idea of locking the kitchen doors sounds like a better solution. Might have to try that if I ever have a butler again.

So they always dropped whatever they were doing to come and eat. So they were constantly stuffed and never got anything done.
I fired that butler but he refused to leave. I was, however, able to hire another one so I decided to do that to see if the old butler would go when the replacement turned up. Then I had two problem butlers. So I closed the game and decided I'd learned to live without a butler in the house and have so far stuck to it.
As far as Jared Frio is concerned - in my first few games in Sunset Valley my sims built a house on the vacant lot next to the Frio house. They didn't interact much with their neighbours but I did get the feeling that Jared was a bit of a problem and to be avoided. I have subsequently played him a few times and he doesn't seem to be too bad but he's not one of my personal faviourite sims.
I have had a few sims I've made myself that come to mind as being least favourite Sims.
1. Male Genie. Can't remember what all of his traits were but one of them was brooding. So he constantly sat crosslegged on the ground and contemplated. I soon got frustrated with that. I haven't had him in a game since.
2. Then there is Josephine. Another Genie. She is hot headed and I had to evict her from the first game I put her in due to constant fighting with another household member. The final straw was when I saw her jump on top of her adversary, who was trying to walk down some stairs at the time, and they rolled around on the floor at the top of the stairs. I don't know who won the fight but Josephine was gone after that one. I kept her out of my games for a few real life years but she's back in my current game. She is still difficult but I haven't seen her fighting recently.
My current game has a few 'interestnig' personalities including Josephine.
Any sim that decides to cancel their queue for no reason or become obsessed over an object. I've had so many sims decide to cancel "go to school" or "go to work" mid travel and I don't notice for several sim hours because I'm busy with another sim. Ugh! Some might say that's realistic but I say it's extremely annoying.
Oh and house guest who refuse to leave. They should thank me for simply resetting them vs what I could do.
@Charlottesmom I do like Jared Frio, but he IS difficult. I am good friends with him currently but what I do is line him up with a bunch of positive interactions so he doesn't have a chance to be mean. I may add him to my friends style house in the future. But first...
That is an amazing makeover of Jared. Where did you get that hairstyle? How can I get that? EA should let you design sims for theif worlds. He somewhat looks like me now that I look at him.
