Jagged shadows in sunlight.

Hi,

Lately I am really annoyed by the fact my shadows in TS4 look really jagged when objects come in direct contact with daylight.

TTfn0Kx.jpg

Counts for all objects outside too, and there seems nothing I can do to fix this issue. The rest of the game runs fine, all settings maxed out, but the shadows keep being like that.

Running the game on MSI R9 390 Gaming 8GB, so that should be more than enough.

Anyone else having this annoying issue?

I also tested the game with my previous card, the GTX 770, but also that card has the same jagged shadow problems.

Wonder if there is a fix for this, since its bothering me A LOT.

That would be nice and surprising coming from EA.

I think you will be fine with the GTX 1070, however even with the ''top of the line'' cards, the only thing TS4 seems to really struggle with are these jagged shadows.

I think it's a case of bad optimization and I really doubt they will fix it, but I hope they do!

I *hope* the jagged shadows won't end up inside my house too with the upcoming graphics update, because now the main focus of the problem is outside in the sun (when the shadow turns during the day, and the object shadow get's in a different angle) shadows inside houses are a bit more blurred out so you won't notice it really when not direct in sunlight, so I wonder what the next update will bring.

I am afraid for it too. At least I am glad I am not the only one with the exact same issue, so it's not a card problem at least!

You will love the 6700K but be prepared to do a bios upgrade and if you do not have to do one, you are one of the lucky ones. :)

OP, it's not you, it's them. It's this game no matter how high you have things turned up in the graphic's menu.

You should have circled her arms, look at her arms and hands in that shadow. It's not my card, it's their technology of how they built this game.

This is what I'm worried about since they're changing the way shadows work indoors soon. :confounded:

Buying the parts and getting them to build it. (It's similar to newegg.. not anything like cyberpowerpc... its a complete custom.) I dont have the time to deal with any DOA parts.. and i dont have the space or patience, got too much going on at the moment. Plus my cable management is less then perfect LOL.
I have built a few computers and upgraded a heap.. i sort of just find it frustrating now.
Saying goodbye to my lovely 970 rig next week.. selling it on ebay. Hopefully for a good price.

In case you're wondering.... Skylake + GTX 960 = Jagged Shadows Membership.

To be honest, I tend not to notice since I'm usually simming and tweeting at the same time. :D
