I mentioned in an old thread in the Bugs & Issues section I think the Sims team should adjust the character limit for names for 14 to 20, or at least, to 16 to kill the issue with Olivia's surname.
@rosemow suggested I put that feedback in...Feedback. I didn't think of it as feedback when I typed it, but I took her advice.
So, I was wondering if anyone else has small ideas that would make the game a little better for them. I have a few.
- Increasing the name character limit from 16 to 20
- Adding in more family relationships to start from in CAS (cousin, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, etc)
- Making extended relationships recognizable
- This has to do with modding, but letting modders create their own CAS sections. So, my sim can wear painted nails and a bracelet. Or glass wings and eyeglasses.
- An option to make sims stay still in CAS. There was a mod for this, but it no longer works, it seems.

And I'd like to add an increased character limit for song titles as well! It's ok for books, but I can hardly ever name a song how I want it because I'm out of characters.
I'm currently using a mod for this, but I'd rather not.
Scream it out loud, One generation
Riot in the streets, Fighting and debris
Raise your fist high, the Generation Wild!"
- All the watches, rings, and bracelets being available for either wrist
- Single earrings for men
- Taking glasses off in bed (this came up in another topic today)
- Automatically taking from fresh food, not the fridge, if there's fresh-made food on a counter
- Children being able to pick fruit to eat (little Elsa would have lasted much longer today on her grand egg-hunting expedition if she could have eaten berries in the woods)
- "Meet friends" at school making kids meet only same-age Sims
* Making it so that when you return home from a night out, the sims left at home are in bed asleep if it is between 11pm and 6 am
* Have teens put their homework automatically back into their inventory instead of leaving it all over the place
* Have an option on the fridge to 'eat leftovers' with a pop-up choice, no having to open the fridge and choose the dish
* Add an option for the sim limit to be raised to prevent culling
* Add an option for variable days for the length of each life stage (to pick your own length for each age)
Also more CAS relationships and family options. Like sometimes I want a young couple to start out with a baby, but since can't make them in CAS I have to settle for a kid. And being able to set CAS couple as just boyfriend/girlfriend.
Babies being untied from the bassinet. I just hate that we have to keep putting them down in between each action, and that you can't breastfeed while sitting down. Like idk, it bothers me that the bassinet counts as the baby, not the baby model itself.
Being able to do homework (for the at home sim) when playing a different family member who is away from home
Elder sims having the word "retirement" instead of unemployment
We need a cemetery
It would be nice if Elder had choices for a little job (like the teens do)
Attraction Chemistry Lightening bolts
Scaning room function
School Uniforms
Trying to get into private school by inviting headmaster over
A memory system like Sims 2
Portable Easels (or sketch pads) and keyboards.
I'm happy we have that one light fixture that is almost flush to the ceiling. I'd like another style or two of that. It's about the only one I use now.
CAS Mode
- More makeup options. Have teens be able to have their orange skin period and the option for kids to mess around with the makeup. Also for men to wear makeup just like the women because who doesn't want to see their Sim slayin with a cat eye? Add in things like ridiculous/subtle contour, more customisable eyeshadow options, brow options (lol)
- Make the hair and clothes more customisable, I really liked that in the Sims. The annoying sliders are gone but now there are only like 14 options for the hair and things and that gets really irritating
- Decent noses for the girls. Seriously, half the noses look ridiculous.
- More traits. I don't know why but I find three traits really constricting. There was more room for character in the Sims 3 which I really enjoyed.
- Maybe have different accents? Different dialects of Simlish? That would be pretty funny to watch
- I'm not sure if this is available but have the ability for young adults to be related to teens, children, babies etc.
Build/Buy Mode
- Good carpet. There are only two carpets and each colour is just...
- More choice of roofs
- Just more customisation for Build/Buy mode as well
Traits/Emotions
- Add in waayyyyyyy more traits. I suppose this comes as the expansions come in but the selection in my opinion is pretty meagre.
- Have teens randomly become 'angsty'
- Have the sims react differently to their colours, otherwise I feel as though adding in your favourite colour is a little unnecessary. Maybe have like a +5 moodlet if they're wearing their favourite colour
- Have kids get a -5 moodlet for doing chores (or +5 if they're Good)
Skills/Careers
- The ability to grow flowers in Gardening, I reckon that would be pretty cool
- Add in the Career Makeup Artist and the skill of makeup
- Add in wayyyy more instruments. In TS3 it was expanded a little in the Late Night expansion but I feel like just basic classical instruments like the cello, or the flute or the trumpet could also be added in. It would also be fun for the kids to go to after school orchestra
- More depth in the sports department. Either make up the Sim's own unique sports or additionally add conventional ones such as basketball or baseball and have injuries related to those sports
- Thinking about that, what if they released something to do with the Olympics? Would be a bit of a sell out point but it would be pretty awesome...
- Have lawyers as a career and decide whether fellow criminals should go to jail or not
- Maybe have the option of cutting your own hair?
- Add the social media skill back in
Gameplay
- Expand a little in school. I know some people prefer the rabbit hole but maybe there could be a new school which is available only if your child gets an A grade in school that can specialise in subjects, and then have active gameplay for that, kind of like the University expansion. For instance, you could have children perform experiments in Science class and totally 🐸🐸🐸🐸 up or have them doodle in their notebooks/chuck paper balls
- Alternately you could have completely specialist schools, like a purely Arts school or purely Science school and so on. Also, make scholarships a thing
- Toddlers. That's all I'm gonna say.
- I feel like every building should be able to have active gameplay. Like what if you were in the supermarket and your 3 year old started having an absolute fit? I guess it would eat up battery, effort and it's a little unnecessary but it would be really fun.
- Fix the time in gameplay. I understand it has to go a little faster than usual but it takes like an hour for my Sim to walk to the kitchen when its like 1 Sim metre away. It's bloody frustrating and just takes time out
- I don't think it would ever be added but it would be awesome if a hidden sex drive bar was there for the more flirtier Sims
- I really hope they're developing at least Generations, University and Pets, those ones were the bomb
- Have the ability to change maternity clothes in CAS or something
- Add back the ability to change a Sim's lifespan with the sliders
- Have the ability to also buy clothes. That would be hella fun. Also makeup, accessories, fishing equipment... pretty much everything to upgrade a skill. For instance, have 🐸🐸🐸🐸 violins but then also have really extravagant ones.
“Instead of putting players in the role of Luke Skywalker, or Frodo Baggins, I'd rather put them in the role of George Lucas.”Will Wright.
This would also be useful for parents with young children who want to work from home, I know real-life parents who have admin and IT jobs who work from home most days. And it would just give more flexibility to players. Maybe if I had a household with 4 adult sims, I might have one sim 'work from home' each day and send the others off to work, to get a bit of one-on-one skill building time with that sim.
(And yes, I am using Zerbu's Careers mod, and I love it, but it doesn't quite cover every scenario).
Aliens: I would like aliens to be undercover when they are out and about. I LOVE aliens, but would rather play them in one world, and have them undercover in the other worlds! Also, I would like an easy way to stop abductions.
