Can't Change Lot Type?

So I'll start from the beginning. Awhile ago I started work on a park for Newcrest, on the Midtown Meadows lot. I got bored after awhile and saved my progress in my gallery, then I replaced it with another lot. I eventually decided to start all over and deleted all my save data. So I decide to finish my park. I place it on the lot and work on it. When I go to change lot type to park, I find I can't change the lot type at all. It simply says "generic" and when I hover over it, it says "disabled for special venues". Apparently it's working as a residential lot as I moved a Sim in, but it still says generic as it's venue type. I tried moving a Sim in, then moving them out, didn't work. I tried deleting the items that I used bb.showhiddenobjects to place but it did nothing. I tried making sure it met every requirement for the lot type I wanted, nothing.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I really don't want to have to start over...

Hello.
Save your park to your library. Then bulldoze the lot. Then place the park back onto the lot and see if you can change the lot then.

Oh, right. Forgot to mention I tried that as well. But I'll give it another shot.

EDIT: Didn't work :c I also forgot to mention that, when I bulldoze the lot, it still has the same problem. The only way to really change it is to place a lot from the gallery of a different type, then it changes to that type. The problem is that, once I place the park over other venues, it changes back.

It's driving me nuts at this point.

If you still have issues, start a new save game file, and place it on the same lot in that save game and see if you can change the lot type. If you can, then change the lot type, save the build to your library, then place it back into your current game,

@rosemow I am having similar problems so I am hoping perhaps you know the solution rose? I followed the steps above to try and fix it but nothing seems to work. One of the new 64x64 lots in Windenburg is stuck on the generic type and placing other lots on it doesn't fix that. I tried placing lots from the neighborhood view and from build mode. In other save files its fine, just not in the one I use. I might have to use a separate save file to take my gallery shot as that's the only lot that works well. Thanks in advance!

Hello.
It may be best to start a new save game file and place your build onto the lot in that game.

I am currently having this exact problem. I have made a post in the technical thread hoping for some help. Rosemow has been over there trying to offer me some help. I have tried everything, new sims 4 folder, new save, nothing takes this lot off of the generic lot type. No matter whatever lot type I try to put there is remains locked on Generic. Hope we get some resolution.

Wondering also since it may be a last resort, if I repair the game in origin, will I lose everything including my newly designed town?

Repairing the game shouldn't affect your save games. As a precaution, make a backup copy of your Documents -Electronic Arts - sims 4 folder before doing the repair and place it on your desktop.
To repair the game, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.

I had this problem as well, and I had to go back to an older save before I messed up that lot.

I am sorry that you are having this issue. Try again with a new save game file now and see if the issue is still there.

I am also having this exact issue. I will try the first fix that rosemow suggested (saving in a fresh game and then re-downloading into this game). I am figuring I will have to start a completely fresh game and reconstruct my whole neighborhood, but until the glitch is addressed I plan to avoid generic lot types. However, your lot that had this problem was a park lot, right?

For simmers affected, you may need to start a new save game file.

If you have an earlier backup of the save game try testing to see if the issue is not affecting that game version.
You could also try rolling back to an earlier version to test if the issue is there.

And how do you do that? Everybody mentions "start a new save file" but I am regularly saving with different names, so I have new save files I assume. Or do you mean "new save folder" by "new game"?

Hello.
To start a new save game file, go to the main screen and press the " +" button that is at the top of the screen. That will create a new save game file.
This picture explains it.



"Save as" is saving another new copy of the same game file.

There is a workaround for the issue, that is posted in this thread on the AHQ EA site. Try doing that and see if it hejps

If you still have issues, try saving your sims to your library and save their homes to your library, then start a new game and place them into the new save game.
They will lose though any relationships that your sims have with sims not in their household, and will lose their inventory and collections progress. They will retain though their skills and their careers.

I'm trying to change the type of lot to Bar but it saying that I cannot change it because the lot is owned.. I can't understand how to change it or re-own the place..

Try seeing if a sims household can buy the lot/move there . If they can, have them move there. Then have them sell the lot and move to another home. Then go into build mode on the lot and see if you change the lot type then.
If the issues remain, try going into build mode on another lot and change the lot type to bar. Bulldoze the lot. Go back to the lot which has your bar build, and save the build to your library. Then place the build from your library onto the other empty lot, and see if that helps the issue.

Edit : you could also try bulldozing the current lot after saving the bar to your library. Then go back to manage worlds. Then go to bulld mode on the lot, try changing it to the bar type then, place the build from your library onto the empty lot, and see if that helps the issue.
