This dining room reflects the United States at Christmas. It is a cozy space for family and friends to gather to celebrate the joyous holiday. This particular family is comprised of a grandmother, mother, father, little girl and aunts and uncles. The child is an only child, so, after her turn at dinner, she awaits her next turn to chime in after the adults stop. Pictures of the room:
Christmas in America is a very nice dining room for Sims to celebrate Christmas in the USA ! @coolsim9999999 The red, white and blue colour scheme to reflect the colours of the national flag looks very nice! It looks great that the room is in the shape of an American eagle! Very nice furnishing and layout of the room! Desc: In London England having Christmas dinner with Roast Turkey, sweet mince pies and warming drinks while watching the Queen's speech on television is the ideal Christmas day every year. When we are full and relaxed the next thing we usually do is enjoy a good movie or watch a fun stage show such a Cinderella. I was born in London and remember those wonderful times.

Congratulations on your Maxis faves @AlJay and @flobobunny Thats wonderful for you both. Have a great Christmas
@Gwiniel your 'Nordic Xmas dining' room looks so cosy and warm for family to enjoy their meal. I love all the wood and plants, the window shelves are so pretty
@coolsim9999999 your Dining room in the United States is beautifully decorated in the USA colours and those sims are definately enjoying the chat after dinner at the festive long table.
London Loft at Christmas is a very nice British themed dining room for celebrating Christmas in! @luckyheather The British themed pictures on the walls, the double decker bus on the fireplace ledge, the London Underground train sign, the fine crockery used, the Union Jack flag and Queen’s crown pictures, and the much needed teaset for a British themed room, look great! The red, white and blue colour scheme to reflect the Union Jack flag looks very nice! The red and blue coloured piping and ceiling lights looks great! Very nice dining area in the middle area of the room. Sims will enjoy eating their Christmas lunch there, whilst watching the Queen’s Message on the tv. The blue and red flowers are a pretty touch on the dining table, and the mosaic floor patterning under the table looks great! The fireplace will keep the Sims warm whilst eating their meal on a cold Wintery Christmas Day. The Christmas tree cards are a nice touch on the fireplace ledge. Nice blue armchair sitting areas for having cups of tea through the day. Very nice bar counter nook in the corner of the room. Sims will enjoy sitting on the stools having a drink from the bar. The Beefeater Royal Guard is a great touch on the bar counter! The Christmas roast turkey dinner and cakes on the side wall table look delicious ! Very nice windows corner Christmas tree nook! The Christmas tree looks very pretty! The strings of snowflakes are a nice touch on the windows. Sims will enjoy looking out through the windows at the falling Christmas Day snow.
It is a very special British themed Christmas dining room! The British furnishings look great! Thankyou very much for entering this week’s challenge!
Thank you @rosemow for noticing my little British themed objects I used like the Beefeater Guard on the bar, I was looking through the decorations and found him...I had forgot him Lol Its a shame the food is not in the upload but the Tea tray is It was so nice to tell everyone how I used to have Christmas day in London, thanks for the theme I enjoyed myself
This family dining room is all decked out to host their favorite holiday visitors: children and the poor. In the not-too-distant past this lovely tradition was honored in England at Christmas time and All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween). Small ‘Soul Cakes’, sweets, and fruits were offered to these visitors, who offered in back to their hosts singing and prayers.
This link is to a video to one of my very favorite Christmas songs, ‘A Soalin’ by Peter, Paul, & Mary
– ‘A Soalin’ https://youtu.be/nABowLcQlHc
The poor who visit will also be able to warm themselves in front of the fire and perform, watch, or dance as others sing or play the violin.
The entire room does not use electricity in order to honor the vintage feel old-time holiday traditions. Even the tree lights… they are candles.
I am an American ‘mutt’, but almost entirely of European descent, with the majority of that being English. So, I wish you all a ‘Happy Christmas’, and I hope you will enjoy learning about this wonderful tradition of Christmas!
Features Include: ‘Holiday Crackers’ for the children (gifts/treats – a British tradition), letters to Father Christmas to be burned in the fireplace (so he can read them in the smoke – a British tradition), tea & holiday wassail (spiced, heated cider that is a British tradition); soul cakes, bread, fruit... so that visitors can eat and chat… and take home some goodies. And…. Since most homes in England did not have tall ceilings or door frames(!), I went with the shortest height. (Only the fruit will upload to the gallery. If you want the food, see the workaround below.)
Workaround note to get the food for your Soul Cake gathering: I saved a ‘residence-room’ (in the gallery, called “Soul Cake Christmas Food”) with the food but needed to save the room as a residence. This seems to be the only way to get the food (aside from fruit) to upload and download in the gallery. So… you can download the lot with the food, have one sim move out and buy the lot with the food room put the food in their personal inventory, bulldoze and sell the lot, then have them move back in. Use or refrigerate the food right away, though, or it will go bad. A lot of work for food, but maybe not if you don’t have a sim with the cooking skills.
Pictures of the room:
‘Holiday Crackers’ for the children (gifts/treats inside & make a small 'pop/explosion' when opened – a British tradition)...

Soul Cake Christmas is a very special Christmas dining room! @SheriGR It was very nice learning about the English tradition. It is caring and kind of people to open their homes up to children and the poor, and to give them cakes , sweets and fruit. They would enjoy hearing and seeing their visitors singing, playing music and dancing. It is very nice that you have uploaded a separate lot with spedial food for the room. Very nice furnishing of the room! It looks very warm, welcoming and homely. The candles lighting the room look very nice. The cookies, fruit, cake, fruit bowl and bread food items associated with the tradition look very nice on the festive tables. It looks very nice how the dining table has been set up, for Sims to enjoy sitting there eating the food. Very nice Christmas tree area! The Christmas tree is very pretty, and the bon bons around the base of the tree will be nice for the visitors to take home with them. The nutcracker and small doll are nice there. The fireplace will keep the Sims warm as they sit and rest on the sofa in front of the fire, listening to the violin being played. It is great that there are letters on the floor ready to be burned in the fireplace. The festive garlands are nice around the wall candlelights. The fruit wall picture is a nice touch. The patterned red and green floor rugs are a nice festive touch in the room. The vintage crockery cabinet is nice in the room.
You have put so much caring thoughtfulness into this Christmas room for the Poor and the Children guests to feel welcomed and warm inside at Christmastime and enjoy the special food Thankyou very much for entering this week’s challenge

@rosemow Thank you, as always, for your very kind and thoughtful feedback. I've heard comments on several areas of the forum referring to how cherished and dear you are to so many here. I hope you have a lovely Christmas filled with many blessings. You deserve it for your tireless, ceaseless work and kindness. ♥
Hello @sevvstaa Welcome to the room challenge thread! Happy simming!
Very clever room shape and the floor pattern @coolsim9999999. Nice to see a different USA xmas decoration compared to what is shown via TV (movies, reality tv, series).
Great, iconic, British pictures on the walls @luckyheather. Awesome that it's a home in high rise building and nice use of objects - definitely gives a modern British vibe in the Sims way!
The room is as warm and beautiful as is the tradition behind it - very heartfelt @SheriGR. The warm white candle lighting gives that extra touch. "Raising my hat" for your hard work of getting all the food items displayed
Thank you for your kind words, @Gwiniel . I spend so many hours on this one I really need to work today. Hahaha.... My parents used to listen to Peter, Paul, and Mary (and we even used their song "The Wedding Song" in our wedding service, as did my parents). Their song about the tradition is soulful and lovely - and was how I heard of it myself. Once I thought of the idea for the room I was so, so excited and into it! Thank you for reading about it and for your (and @rosemow) and everyone else's patience with my long post about it (sorry!). You are all so wonderful and gracious on this thread, and I appreciate you all very much. Merry Christmas!
@Gwiniel - Also... I really enjoyed your Nordic room and am fascinated to see which items you chose for it! I think you did a great job, even if there are items you would have like to add from packs you don't own. The fireplace style is a great choice, reindeer, the styles of the wooden items, colors, pictures, and details of the items chosen... I am glued to my screen to view the other items and am excited to see the choices (as I said) and to hear you chose them because you're from Finland. Is that your family line or did you grow up there? I have little idea of what homes are like in modern Finland or Norway, but am currently listening a audiobook version of a book I read in the past - Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset (originally written in three parts - The Bridal Wreath, The Mistress of Husaby, The Cross). It's set in Norway and is an award-winning, historical novel that's one of my all-time favorites. Since your ancestral heritage is rooted in the area, I would highly recommend it!
Thank you very much for your very nice comment about my US dining room @luckyheather ! I’m so glad you like it --- especially the US colors and the Sims enjoying some time chatting after dinner !
Great room and nice English colors, as well as interesting background details about Christmas in England @luckyheather !
Thank you very much for your nice comment about my room @Gwiniel ! I'm happy you like it, especially the floor pattern and different decorations !
I really like how you used wood, red and the decorations in your room @Gwiniel !
Now, I'm off to place the builds and Sims in the Save I messed up last night . I hit the check mark when it asked my "Are you sure?" about deleting a game save permanently ! Since it was a challenge save, it will be easier to put back together. I already placed the family who started that game save in November 2017. I hope I can give them a Merry Christmas...

So sorry, @coolsim9999999 ! That stinks. I'm super-big on backups from learning the hard way. (I even managed to delete my entire website at the root when making my first, portfolio website right out of college. I could barely speak for hours, then I cried.) And I had a photography prof who said one time in his instructions about an issue... 'and I know when this choice pops up you're just going to click yes to get it to go away, so...' Hahaha... glad I'm not the only one that dynamic has bit on the butt, but I'm sorry that you're dealing with it. My condolences.
