Is there anyone who doesn't want to have to use Mods or CC? I have used Mods in TS3, but not many. I used some basic Nraas Mods, like overwatch and debug enabler, but this time I'd really like to keep a vanilla game. Is that even going to be possible?? I'm not sure!!

I know that no one will be forcing me to use mods/cc... I just meant that already people are making tons of CC and the game isn't even out. I'm hoping there will be enough options in the full game that I won't be tempted.
In TS3, I used Overwatch and ErrorTrap because my game was so laggy (I'm playing with a Core i5, GTX 760Ti, and 8GB RAM) and saved games became disastrous. I used MasterController and StoryProgression just because I wanted to have complete control of my game and I also wanted my town to have better progression. On top of that, I used many script mods, custom sliders, and lots of CC. What the modding community can do never ceases to amaze me.
To answer your question, I probably will be using a mod similar to MC (if one is created for TS4), some tuning mods, some script mods, and some CC. I'll try to use less this time around.

Why post in a mods section of the forum about not using mods/cc though? I don't think I understand why someone would ask in a forum section full of people making it and using it whether or not they'll be using it in the game, and to tell people you won't be.
Pretty sure the game will end up with a good amount of stuff so that even a vanilla game could be totally peachy, but the world is full of people with different tastes and preferences, would be hard for a vanilla sims game to suit everyone.
With cc being this easy for me to fiddle with (well, recolors) I'll for sure be using it if I get the game, especially for decor and posters/framed items...
You make it sound like using mods/CC was some kind of sin
No matter how rich with features the vanilla game is, it can't please EVERYBODY, because a lot of the things people want in a game are mutually incompatible. People don't just want more of the things they like; they want less of the things they DON'T like. And Sims players are massively diverse, and differ both on aesthetics and on functionality. The beauty of mods and CC is that every niche group can have what they want in THEIR game without imposing it on people who want something different. You want household bills to be higher? Done. You want them lower? Done. You want realistic religion? You want mature content? You want smoking and alcohol use? You want a baby bbq? A taxation system? Menstrual cycles? Other people might hate that, but thanks to mods, done, done, done, done, done
You get the idea. You only have to spend five minutes in the general forum to see how different people's ideas of the ideal game are.
Besides the fact that mods are interesting, fun to make and share, and (usually ) free to use...
Well, this is the mods forum You probably won't find too many people who agree with the proposition that in an ideal world there would be no mods.
Edit - See the old Maxis stubble on Raphael Merrick in my sig, I hate it so much I had to change it.

> I'm ashamed to say I already have CC on the create a sim demo. I've replaced the male stubble, grabbed purple hair and added a CC eye colour pack. I'm not intending to get loads but find the default hair colours (not so much the styles) lacking.
Why would you be ashamed? Not only do I already have enough CC that I've needed to organize my subfolders and edit my resource.cfg to support subfolders, I've actually made quite a bit of it already, too! (See my avatar for an example).
There's no shame! I suppose you could make an argument about being ashamed to use cheats and mods that significantly alter gameplay (although I don't buy that, either). But wanting a greater variety of customization options, and taking advantage of the resource that is a huge community of talented, brilliant creators? No shame!
As far as mods go, in TS3 I had a mod to supress memories, Overwatch, Master Controller, Story Progression, and I think one that toned down the occurance of zombies. Whether or not I mod in TS4 depends on how the game plays, and what I end up needing from it that it isn't giving me. Usually that takes me a few days of gameplay (if not longer) to suss out. So, I don't know yet.
I have already changed my config file so I can have sub folders for CC recolour sorting and I will probably stick to maxi match unless any awsome meshes are made.
I will probably look out for programmes to control CC recolours.
I will be very conservative to ensure I do not bloat my game apart form the eye replacement and de censor I will play vanilla .
I have found in the past I did not use all the CC I downloaded.
