I also have the free plants verses zombies....so that's the problem?
Can't be. I didn't get it. I've been trying to reinstall my game because my computer got infected & I had to roll it back to factory settings. I haven't even purchased anything through Origin in a long time.

Friendly warning to those of you who are disabling your firewall and antivirus software as the Advisors have instructed ...some how my computer caught a virus during the time I was working with a chat Advisor to "repair" the issue on my end.
3 days and several virus scans later, I finally removed the virus, malware, PUPS, and their roots. Complicating matters, some of the Malware had multiple names for the same program, so you pull one "root" but the pop-up or "helpful browser" still appears. Had as much "fun" dismanteling that as I did trying to fix the stupid Origin problem.
<insert your choice of a blistering string of curse words here> VERY irresponsible for multiple EA advisors to suggest that we make our computers vulnerable to fix a problem on THEIR end!!! :smileymad:
When my computer was back up and running, I got an email stating the refund (per my request) is on its way. At this point the money is inconsequential.
When will EA realize - we don't want "special" treatment. We don't want - "instant gratification". We just want to know that someone at EA acknowledges their recent patch caused problems, and instead of trying to place the blame on our computers, networks, or internet ...maybe the powers that be at EA could do the following:
1. Acknowledge the issue within days of being made aware of the problem
2. Reassure us about the active investigation and ongoing repair attempts. This should be a FRONT page sticky that's updated DAILY
3. Finally - if an issue can't be resolved at the first level (advisor) or next level (Senior Staff) then a timely refund of the full purchase price should be offered the FIRST time a player contacts support.
I can't speak for everyone, but these small steps would have made a HUGE impact on my patience level and trust in EA.

I have been waiting for an answer since the 5th June. several 'live chat' sessions. Phone calls to Origin in Australia, resulted in me getting absolutely nowhere. They are not aware of any problem and it has to be my computer. I have directed them here and apparently because there are not enough people with the problem it can't be Origin's fault!
I haven't rung for a couple of days now, so it is time to get back on the case.
The free plants vs zombies was the last thing I was able to download. Today I the battlefield game was showing in my games (I dont' own it and never got it). I think they were using it to test the system or something because now it is gone. Still cannot download anything though.
I thought maybe they gave me the battlefield game on account of the inconvenience. HA! Who was I thinking they were...I must have lost my mind. LOL.
My problem started on June 3rd. I was able to download simply by uninstalling Origin and then reinstalling an old version of Origin.
This allows me to download anything except Movies SP and Into The Future EP, which hadn't been issued at that time.
So it can't be my computer and the fact that I can download with an old version of Origin means it can't be my profile.
It must be some combination of the latest version of Origin and my profile that is doing it.
A previous poster posted something that said the "Activation Issue has been solved." That is a separate thing and has nothing to do with this problem. People were having problems as they were able to download but when it went to install it was saying the activation was incorrect.
We can't even download properly.
For Sims fans the work around is fine except if you want to download Movies SP or Into The Future EP.
The only time I've ever come across something like this before, it had to do with Digital Rights Management or DRM.
I wonder if somehow our accounts were somehow banned by the DRM.
Perhaps it could also be an issue with internal setting on the account. I recall a year or so ago, they had issues because if a user was being a jerk on the EA forums, when they banned him from the forums, it would also ban him from playing the games he bought.
Obviously this isn't fair and it wasn't intended. They only wanted to keep from posting.
Well... it seems that after the conversation that I had about a week ago by one of the reps there, who assured me that they were now aware of the problem and will be fixing it, was just BS. I'm sorry that everyone, including myself, is still being affected by this. And more so, still being told they have no idea, or that it's on our end. I just created a point blank petition for all of us to sign. Here is the link.
I've had to deal with getting suddenly logged out here and heard of others getting the same and being unable to log back in and Exchange uploads are getting deleted for no reason because of the account glitches.I've had a world I uploaded and a house I also uploaded both get deleted from the Exchange and been suddenly logged out without warning due to these account glitches.I was able to down load PlantsVSZombies before the glitches started with me.It's not my browser because I just upgraded to Firefox v30 with a manual installer very recently and fixed IE to get rid of SpeedSearchDial which is supposed to be a "helpful" add-on for browsers and I just find it plain shady and don't want it there.
This issue is affecting more and more of us each day. Now they are blaming us, the consumer. This is not possible when this issue affects many all over the world. So I took the first steps in filing a civil lawsuit, which is to start a petition on Change.org. I would appreciate if you or someone you know are having these issues, please stop by and sign this.
People it is NOT YOUR COMPUTERS....Don't Let them make you a new account, You will Lose all your store stuff, even if you have it backed up... They need to Fix the problem... I have been working on this since June 7 and the "Specialists" are supposedly working on a fix... I stil cant download any of my Games from Origin, but since I have the inatalled I went back to my old account, so I dont lose my store items, It has been a total nightmare for me and EA Needs to do something to fix this...
Also how nice it was for them NOT TO TELL US that having too much store stuff can break our account... I mean Really????

how did you use the old version of Origin, when others have tried, it automatically updates to the newer version....
I spoke too soon maybe, I installed Master Suite by downloading it from an old copy of Origin, now Origin requires that I use a disk to play. All my games have been downloaded directly from Origin.
I wonder if this is a related problem or just coincidence?
I have had the same issues, and got an annoying email a few days later asking me if everything was fine since they had not heard from me and if I did not reply they would cancel the support request.
I was hoping that pointing out that I have been able to purchase, download and install from STEAM for all my other gaming needs, at a rate of almost 6 MG a second, would help clear it up and motivate them. It was most definitely not my internet connection. I have not had a reply from them.
Also thanks to insomnia I've tried to download the game at times around the clock, and still can't download something I own.
My problem started on June 3rd. I was able to download simply by uninstalling Origin and then reinstalling an old version of Origin.
This allows me to download anything except Movies SP and Into The Future EP, which hadn't been issued at that time.
how did you use the old version of Origin, when others have tried, it automatically updates to the newer version....
Here's how to do it. (Windows)
Go to your current version of Origin. Log in and go to the upper left and click on Application Settings.
Under Settings it says General, Notifications, Origin In Game, Advanced.
Click on General
Make sure "Automatically Keep My Games Up To Date" and "Automatically Keep Origin Up To Date" are NOT checked. Repeat Not Checked.
Then log out and log back into Origin. Reaffirm that the setting took and "Automatically Keep Origin Up To Date" and "Automatically Keep My Games Up To Date" are unchecked.
Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program
Once your old version of Origin is downloaded you need to PHYSICALLY DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet. Easiest way to do this is remove the cat 5 (yellow or gray cord) from the Ethernet slot.
Now click to install the old version.
As soon as you click the file, it will bring up a screen and ask you where to install Origin. Leave that to it's default location.
VERY IMPORTANT... Underneath the install location it will have a series of boxes. One will say "Automatically update origin. Make sure that is NOT checked.
I had issues as I unchecked it and when I hit OK, I saw the "automatically update Origin box" had re-checked itself somehow.
So once you're sure the "automatically update Origin" box is unchecked. Hit OK and let it install.
Once it's done installing the old version. Origin will automatically try to connect to the Internet. This is why you disconnected physically from the Internet. Just let it keep searching for an Internet connection. This may take a few minutes, but it will quit looking.
Then you can plug your Internet back in. Make sure the Internet is back on, and then you can sign back into Origin.
When you go into Origin go to the top and look where it says "Help" Click that and you'll get a drop down box saying "About." That should say Origin Version 9.1.3...
If so then you're all set to go. Go to My Games and it should let you download.
Note you will not be able to download "Into The Future" or "Movies Stuff Pack." This is because this version of Origin was before they were released. If you own those, they will appear in your My Games but it will be grayed out.
There has been an update to Origin, 74 MB. I let it download and install the update, then I restarted Origin (just to make sure it took hold), went to my Games pane all excited that they HAD updated the client so we should be able to download our games again.
Well... nopes. Nopes, nopes and more nopes.
The only thing that has changed, is that now I see the "Preparing download" bar spin when I ask it to download my games, which it didn't do before. So I checked the Origin logfile. And this is what I found:

So yeah, we're still not owning the games we have bought and paid for it seems. Almost 3 weeks it took them to make a patch that tadah... shows us a spinning download bar!
Can you tell how impressed I am NOT?!
If I was unsure before, I am certainly set now. I am NOT going to buy Sims 4. I don't wanna have to deal with Origin ever again in my life. Most. Obnoxious. Downloader. Ever.
I can`t believe it.
And EA thinks now, everything is done and the gamer should "shut up"?
We do not own (our) the games? No problem, we can buy them again. And to be on the safe side, we do it in a new account. Oh, the store content? No problem, we are the lucky ones that can have the game: "getting good deals" a second time.
We Simmers should be happy. In the last weeks we spent more time on the supportphone/-chat, in forums, checking our own pcs than gaming. We learnt a lot about technic.
We shouldn`t be so hard to this small little indie software forge. We should be proud to support them with our money and time so that they can grow and learn how to exist on a hard fought world market. May be over the years they will even learn how to work with a download platform, but for now it is our part to help them wherever we can.
Sorry, but the situation makes me so angry that I can react only with humor.
As I posted above, I started a petition at Change.org, please sign this so we can get them to see it is not our problem it is on their end as this is affecting many of us all over the world.
It is absolutely ridiculous that after their update in the beginning of June, Origin's launcher is not recognizing our games as being owned, therefore rendering them useless and unable to download. And it is not just the Sims, it is ALL games in our libraries. Their new solution is to give new accounts but you cannot transfer any of your games or dlc to these new accounts!! This is unacceptable as many of us have thousands of dollars tied up in our accounts. Here and on Origin.
My solution: I started a petition at Change.org. The first step in starting a civil lawsuit. Please sign, even if it is not affecting you, it is affecting someone you know or could very well affect you in the future. Help our voices be heard!
A new account would be an option if I only have the Battlefield 3 present on it.
But for Simmers it is definitely NO option. We have to make this position clear to EA, cause with the store a lot of people have spend enormous sums of money and time.
And a backup will not help. The items are fixed to the account.

Hi Chimark. Thank you for posting this, it worked great and even though I am not able to get my Into the future and Movie Stuff copies, I am just grateful I can download the rest! I am currently downloading World Adventures, the link for the older version to me is better than nothing at this point.
Something has definitely gone wrong with their June update and need to look on past versions because the update they provided today was only the beta version they had. I was using it and showed a blue bar spinning. Now there is no beta version so I am guessing thats all it is.
Thanks again for posting this, I for one appreciate it.

Most. Obnoxious. Downloader. Ever.
Help our voices be heard!
https://www.change.org/petitions/ea-origin-games-ever-since-their-launcher-update-in-the-beginning-of-june-we-are-no-longer-able-to-download-any-of-our-digital-games-that-we-own#
But for Simmers it is definitely NO option. We have to make this position clear to EA, cause with the store a lot of people have spend enormous sums of money and time.
And a backup will not help. The items are fixed to the account.
Don't let be talked into a new account.
I'll check mine and see if there is an update and if anything changed.
Thanks so much that totally worked for me.....only thing is after I installed games, it made me update.... but at least I have all my games now.....
