UPDATE - If you have not been able to download from origin update it. So far it appears the latest update fixes the problem. Please post if this is not the case.
hi all,
ive noticed many people are having problems installing items bought from origin and the store
ive tweeted gurus but thankfully crinrict is on top of the matter and here's what she has to share:
EA has multiple servers issues atm. There's many problems with activating game comes on Origin and it's possible that it's affecting the Store as well. They also had issues with sending out password emails and downloading stuff.
The main troubles seems to be that that firefox and google chrome seem to open an empty window and then it won't work. I had that too but after trying a few times it went away.
So keep trying until it works and make sure the launcher is started when they try (this is if nothing happens when they download)
IMPORTANT before uninstalling anything - try different web browsers, clean out web browser cache files and keep trying.
For WORLDS bought from Origin- remember you need to redeem the code and download the file here
* to redeem the code go to my store account and select redeem the code. once redeemed go to my purchases and download the world file
if you have any issues getting the world to properly install (after you get the file) see nona's advice here
http://nonasims.wordpress.com/tag/install-world/FOR other STORE purchases - if you can not download the file from the store try accessing the file under my store account/my purchases if this does not work try downloading in game.
I will update and please share as well, thanks!

I also purchased Master Suite and it won't download. I contacted 'live chat' and after several attemtps at fixes, they wanted me to uninstall Origin manually (I can't follow the instructions) and didn't want to do this before trying other fixes. Now I know they are having problems I will wait.

I got all of this, but I used paypal and it shows they got my money so I don't want to reorder it again as instructed. I have waited over an hour for the install in game.I really wanted the bundle at the sale price too! I hope this is fixed soon.
Also my launcher stopped workings as it says, "Your installation is incomplete, please reinstall." It didn't say that right before I tried to download Master Suite, so I don't know if this is related or not. But I figured I wouldn't bother trying to fix it, till after this problem, with Origin is solved.
If I open Origin the game is there under my games but when I click to download it it appears to be preparing to download and then I get a message saying there was an error and I should check my Internet connections. I've tried just about everything, including different browsers and two different computers.
A lot of people are having this same download issue, and they actually seem in denial about the download issue being an Origin issue. I got an e-mail from their help guy with troubleshooting tips, but the tips all point to the issue being from my computer, when it isn't my computer since so many people are having this issue.
Those who are having the downloading issue where nothing downloads at all, you simply get an error message that tells you 'We're sorry, Origin was unable to download check your game. Please check your internet connection, or try again later' You might want to leave a message here, not really sure if this will help either though.

i just saw this statement by Origin:
Right before seeing this message i just purchased master suite to test and i am currently am not able to download master suite and am getting this error:
i promise i dont have any internet connection issues i have highest speed fios offers plus my PC is connected via cable not wifi so it appears the origin issue continues in spite of the claims it has been fixed
i encourage everyone to contact origin directly so that they become re-aware of the problem. i myself am waiting for live chat, fun!
note it is possible the servers simply are overwhelmed with demands, trying different times to DL may be helpful
you dont DL the store world from origin see my first post that lays out the steps for how to get a world.
are the games installed and the game is crashing? or are you trying to install and the installation crashes?
it is possible the demands are just too high at certain times so do consider trying different times. but again i also encourage if you continue to have the problem to contact customer service as well. my impression the more people report the same problem the more attention it will get.
thanks PHOEBESMOM601 for the confirmation.
i will update thread's first post tomorrow - sorry i have the least amount of free time during the weekends - but please feel free to keep adding any updates, including if you are able to DL, thanks!
ceejay I also thought about demand and I've tried several different times of day and night over the past few days. I always get the same message.
If the problem continues I'll contact customer service. That's always a last resort for me because most times contacting them just leaves me more aggravated than I was in the first place.
The message stating that the activation / play issue was solved is a different thing. That is for people who downloaded games and could download and install them. Once they did this, it would require an activation number, which is indeed already in the game. The game wasn't properly reading the number.
This was happening to Battlefield 3 a lot.
Also a lot of people's browsers, suddenly switched to Russian language, which made people think Origin got hacked.
There is another issue where installation is stalling out at 97%.
So it seems to be a mess over there since Wednesday.
It's ludicrous that this is now day five of a simple download issue. Origin Client is based on the IE browser, which makes sense as nearly every computer (not Macs) are shipped with it in some form, but there must be a better protocol.
Oh well, at least I learned one thing, I will not buy any game from EA unless I get a physical disk, they clearly are not able to run an online system properly.
I don't feel so alone now! I have been having issues since about Wednesday of last week. I had to restore my computer completely, due to non-Sim related problems. Even before that I couldn't redownload my games from Origin. I contacted Support and they'd not heard of it before then. . . Maybe I was just one of the first to contact them. They hope to have it fixed in the next few days and "Sorry for the inconvenience". I will wait another day or so, but I'm going to keep trying! I sent them another message this morning that I still can't download my games. I have the disks, but installing with the disks means running the game with the disks. . . In Sims 1 and 2 I had disks get scratched/warped/ruined that way and am trying to avoid it! (Saving the disks for when they stop supporting Sims 3 in a year or two.)
Keep on the support team about this. The ONLY way we are going to see this fixed if we act like the squeaky wheel that needs oil and make some noise!
I am also having this same problem and getting the same message.
It started yesterday when I uninstalled Seasons and Generations so I could download Pets from Origin. But I got that message that is posted above, though my internet was working perfectly.
So, I thought that since I couldn't download Pets I might as well play my base game but that won't let me play either. I get this message, "Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)". I even rebooted my computer and restored to an earlier time.
Nothing works.
My DVD drive on my computer is busted to I get all my games as Digital Downloads. So, hopefully tomorrow when the EA folks get back to work they will fix Origin so that we can download our games from there.

I have also contacted 'Live chat', all they told me to do was uninstall Origin - they did not appear to even be aware of the problem.
It is a public holiday in Australia today, so tomorrow I am going to ring support and see what happens then.
It becomes so irritating when we have to wait so long for something to be fixed. It was only fairly recently Australia, NZ & Sweden had to wait nearly a month to get a fix for buying simpoints.
if you cant install CC then you may have corrupted files - can you add more details as to whats happening
also pull your sims 3 doc folder any try to install one thing
patty, sorry you didnt need to uninstall EPs to add Pets - EPs can be out of order, my are
i would try simply adding back the uninstalled EPs and test if that doesnt work see the suggestions here http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Service-initialization-failed/td-p/65394
when contacting livechat i myself was firm that the issue was origin's side and gave them links to this thread and APotts to show that more than myself was getting the error.
what's been happening is that i'm this close to throwing all my sims games out the window!!
i will click on a download, either store or custom, and hit install, it starts to load for a couple of seconds and then i get an error message and it crashes.
i've uninstalled and reinstalled twice. i got it working for an hour last night. this morning i went to turn it on and now it keeps crashing to desktop before it even launches. the screen flashes black and it goes to desktop. i cleaned all the caches out and tried reinstalling them, and the launcher won't even work anymore. this all started happening since i purchased the world bundles a few days ago.
i'm about ready to give up
I really appreciate all the help you are giving to folks.
My computer is pretty basic, and half broken, so any more than 2 or 3 Sims related things and it runs real slow. Therefore, I often uninstall the EPs/SPs that I am done playing with, so I can download the one I want to start playing.
And, as often as I download from my Origin account this is the first time I have had this problem. I thought I my computer had finally given up the ghost, LOL! As crazy as it seems, it is good to know others are having this problem since it means its not my poor computer dying on me.
Warm regards,
Patty
