Recently in DarkMirage’s message thread Writin_Reg coined the term Simmers of CAW Lane. The seed was planted for a world containing sims and homes for anyone and everyone who posts in this forum. You don’t have to be a world builder to participate, I’m not, but it would be helpful to at least love user created worlds because CAW Lane will live, and hopefully thrive, in Rflong7’s Longview.

Longview was selected because it is a good size with good builds already present and many empty lots of all sizes available for occupancy. Additionally, Longview has some nice sized empty community lots that should make it ideal for Late Night updating. Longview was built pre-Ambitions, so Ambitions lots will also need to be added by those who have the EP. We hope that there will be lots of posters in this forum who want to play. I’ll provide a list of those participating with lot chosen for building and links to the uploads now available a little further down in the post. I thought it a good idea to talk about guidelines first:

1. Builds and sims may contain content from all EP’s and HELS but no Fast Lane, as some still haven’t purchased it. No third party cc allowed because there are so many who prefer to not have it in game. I will be checking all that I download with Delphy’s Custard to be sure that no third party cc hitches a ride, i.e. the doll. I would recommend that you do the same. Only free store content can be used.

2. The easiest way to upload your home and sims will be as a household already in the home. It will be appreciated if you will recommend the lots you are downloading. That way they will have a better chance of not being culled from the Exchange.

3. Story Progression and aging length is to be determined by the individual. I am going to keep a startup save so that if I decide to start over for some reason, it will be readily available. As an example of what I’m doing, my startup save is called LongviewCAWLaneStartup. When I begin to actually play I will use that save to start with after installing the players lots and sims but my next step will be a “save as” and will be named LongviewCAWLanePlay1.

I will update with links to download and add players as I get them. I hope we have lots of takers Oh, something I forgot to previously mention. While this is sort of aimed to have self sims and facsimile of real homes, that’s not mandatory. You are welcome to pick a sim/sims to represent you and any kind of house. If you already have something in your studio to use, just let me know and point me to what I need to list and your lot selection. For now, just pick one lot to use but since Longiview has a lot of space to fill you may find that additional donations get requested. Don't build at all? If that's the case, stake a claim on a lot already in Longview.

Luckily enough for SOCL players, some participants are being inspired to build optional lots and/or sims for the world. Here are links to what is being shared for anyone wanting the sims or lots in their game. Thank you to the creators for sharing with the rest of us!

Rukaya has built a second home and sim for 110 Oak Circle, if you wish to use it. "Officially," 110 Oak Circle may still be claimed for a self sim lot, if desired. 110 Oak Circle now to be occupied by Pary. All you need do is move the Shimzu home to another location if you've downloaded and installed this optional lot. EDIT - I forgot to mention that the police station is not placed in Longview. It goes on 60 Apple in town area. All I did was enter buy/build and choose the SV police station from the community lots, plop a few parking spots and you're done You may, of course, landscape if you want but can take your time deciding what you want to do. The important thing is you will have a working police station.

I also want to add a tip to this first post that Rflong7 gave a few pages into this thread for those that don't want to read the whole thing. Since we have empty community lots that will be great for Late Night, it is best to mark them now as "no visitors." That way the game won't be sending sims to lots with nothing on them and should funnel them to lots we are actively playing.

It looks like you covered everything. I assume everyone knows that they can change the lots, add to or take away from, add store content or fast lane stuff to their hoods once they get everything added to Longview. The rules are just for uploads, everyone can arrange things according to their play style in their game.

I'm thinking...I am interested, but I do not have that world. Where do I go to upload that world, or is it download? Another question, do I just play a sim in another world and then upload her/him , or do I make the sim and play it in Longview, then up/down load? I know I am a little off beat and I appologize for not knowing all the details. :oops:

Okay, my lot's up. It's a cabin, I'm still indecisive on whether or not I'm happy with it. :? Oh well, the Sim's an eccentric inventor, because every town needs at least one crazy inventor. (Neither are based on anything.)

Should be CC free, and I don't think I used any store items. The upstairs is unusual, but should work fine. Didn't do any landscaping. Built on 253 Will Falls Pkwy.

Yay, I got in on the forum twice in one day. Will wonders ever cease. Hubby and I and our house is up in my studio. I also uploaded a police station for anyone who wants it .

My hubby got in just as I was finishing up our characters, as I took them out and got them the basic skills they needed and registered them both for self employed work. The hubby an inventor as that is his hobby and the game does not offer pc technician. Me as a writer of course. I tried making my house exactly as it is, but of course had to substitute some things- like my real life desk is built into a bookcase that goes nearly to the ceiling and in game I put a shelf rack over the desk, the same thing in my bedroom over my dresser. The hubby thinks I did a good job duplicating the house and us. Hope you guys like it.

Edit to add - also keep in mind I bulldosed that big lot there and replaced it with a 50 x25 lot. I mentioned that on the other thread I believe, but forgot to mention that here, that way it will sit right on the lot.

@ RJ - In case you did not see DarkMirages link to Longview, I have edited the first post with the link. I should have thought of doing that. You don't have to have played the sim you want to use in this world anywhere.

After you download and install Longview, look it over and select a lot that you would like to be yours. Post the address in this thread so I can add that address to the list of lots that are claimed. Then, build a house, create a sim and put the sim in the house. After that use the share button for house with sim family included and upload to your studio and post the link here so that those of us who are going to play the neighborhood can download it and install it in Longview. Please do read the rules above which tell you what content isn't acceptable to use in the build and sim you upload.

@ DM - Thanks for posting the link to Longview. I've edited the first post to include it. Thanks also for pointing out that after the lot is installed any changes are fair game

DD, would it be okay for me to give up the lot I have and instead have 170 Oak Circle? I'm going to try and build my real house and it won't fit on 30x30 because of my stupid garage. I can give up 56 Wright Pass and save that house for some other project. When I started this whole thing I realize I was slow to understand what it was all about. Sorry!

I probably won't download, because my game has a rather annoying habit of crashing whenever I use a basement or pool tool in a house created with an SP I don't have, and I don't have either of them.

However, you guys can feel free to use any of my lots you like that are uploaded at CS3. I can also build a couple for you in contribution, if you would like.

I think there is a misunderstanding here, we are not looking for builders. We are setting up a world of our Sim selves to play for fun. You are welcome to join if you want to make your Sim self and a house for your Sim to live in. Otherwise Longview has empty houses already. Thank you for the offer though.

@ SS86 - I'm getting ready to change the first post so your lot will be 170 Oak Circle. I do have a favor to ask of you. After reading about your build for Wright Pass, I would really like to have it. Would you mind uploading it, too? I've got several worlds that came to mind that I can use that house in

@ Pary - Oh noes! I was so hoping to see you play! I know that the only HELS item in my house is the aquarium but I don't know what anyone else used. Fast Lane items are not supposed to be used in builds at all, so you have no worries there. Actually, there is an item of yours in my copy of Longview already I put in one of the laundromats you made. They are both great and I love them.

We are trying to establish a community, not just get lots. If you would like to bundle up a representation of you and whoever else you want represented of your family with one of your personal favorite lots and upload to your stuido, I will volunteer to pick a lot for you so such an active member of the CAW community won't be left out. That way if you find a sale too good to pass up on HELS, you can personally join us then. I would love to see you just give it a try but respect your position. Let me know if you want to play vicariously for now and I'll add you to the list.

Pary - My apologies, I hope I didn't offend you. I was aware that you knew, but then another post directly after yours volunteered to build as well. I just wanted to stop the onslaught of build offers before it started. I was trying to phrase it as inoffensively as possible, apparently I was not successful in doing so. :oops:

WR - Never mind, the issue was resolved.

DM, I've only gotten as far as installing WR's lot to TS3 but haven't tried to put it in Longview yet. Oh, know what? Let's go back to the message thread because something is rumbling in the back of my brain about WR deleting the lot that was there and putting in a different size. Need to confirm because I'll have to adjust the first post with special install instructions for WR's lot, if I am remembering correctly.

EDIT - Found it. Look at her first post on page 25 of your message thread. She thinks she replaced it with 25X50 but wasn't positive. We'll have to check the size lot indicated when we go to place, see what we need to change, then delete 10 Hilltop lot and replace with the closest correct size with the world editor.

My bad, I didn't pay any attention to the lot size. I just bulldozed the one there and replaced it with her lot. Sorry, I wasn't paying close attention, I was just placing the lots, trying to get everything set up and ready to go.

Also, dolldrms, are you and the others going to document your sims CAW Lane lives? It would be fun to look at screens, and / or read stories about what's happening in everyone's games. Maybe we could ask Regina to set aside a section of CS3 with its own thread for stories about CAW Lane?

Thank you. My self sim house is coming along very well. And I will upload the Spooky House for you, too. If not tomorrow morning, then on Thursday. Our real life floor people are coming in on Weds and I have some prep work to do.

Thanks for the opportunity to let me do a second house. I think it will be closer to what the original intentions of this project were...now that it finally sunk in to my thick head!
