Yes, Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern was one of my favorite series growing up and remains to this day! I will pull the books off my shelf and re-read them fondly. Here is a list of the the books in publication order (which is a bit different than chronological order, but I think it's easier to get into them in the order she wrote them, myself):

Dragonriders of Pern Series

If you want to start where she started, grab Dragonflight; if you prefer a light read, I'd start with the Harper-hall Trilogy, Dragonsong.
