The theme for the week is : A living room for a blind lady.
May is blind. She has no sight at all. She has a guide dog which is her constant companion. Her sight has been gradually declining and it has now deteriorated to the stage that she can't see at all. Could you please design a living room for her that suits her situation? She needs space to walk so as she doesn't fall over. There needs to also be a special section in the room for her special guide dog to call his own.
Just a little reminder, it needs to be uploaded as a room not a lot.

Thank you @Rosemow, I really enjoyed this week's challenge since it really made me think.
I pictured Mary as a widowed grandmother who; besides spending time with her family and dog, enjoys a challenge, loves music and keeping her mind sharp. She has many mementos that she frequently touches that keep happy memories fresh in her mind; her late husband's collection of model trains and boats for example.
When her family comes to visit she plays chess with her son, "watches" her stories with her daughter-in-law and dances to the jukebox with her grandbabies. She saves the violin for when she's alone since she was never very good at it to begin with. She keeps her boxes of knitting supplies next to her armchair and gives away the blankets she makes as well as the bonsai topiaries that she makes.
Most of the wall treatment has a chair rail with paneled sections that she can count to know where she's at in the room. She had a balustrade built around the fireplace area to use as a handrail if needed and to further help with orienting herself to where she's at. Sir Ghalahad has his doggy bed for when he isn't right next to her.
Senses with Sensibility is such a very special room for May! @treece01 You have put so much thought and work into designing and furnishing the room to suit her living situation! It is very nice reading what you have written about her life and how it is reflected in the room that you have designed for her. The layout and furnishing of the room is so very nice! It looks great how you used wall patterming with panels so as she can tell where she is in the room. It looks great that there is a ballastrade around the fireplace to use as a support and also for protection from the fire. The openness of the room is great, allowing her to move around the room without obstacles. She will enjoy sitting resting on the armchairs listening to the tv. The teaset is a nice homely touch on the nearby table. She will enjoy having a drink of tea whilst sitting there. Very nice sofa seat sitting corner nook! It looks nice how you have placed incense holders on the table behind the sofa. She will enjoy the aroma of the incense whilst sitting there. It is very special that you have set up a table with the train and ship on it, to remind her of her husband when she touches them. She will enjoy the scent of the flowers in the room and enjoy feeling the plants and flowers with her hands. It is a great idea that she enjoys creating topiary plant shapes. It is nice that there is a violin in the room for her to enjoy playing when on her own. She will enjoy playing the violin music. Her visiting family and herself would have fun dancing to the music from the jukebox! The living room is very pretty for her family to see when they come visiting! The blue wall pattern looks very nice! There are many nice homely items in the room on the walls for them to see and for May to feel. The birds and wall plate decor looks nice in the room. It is nice that there is a bookcase in the room, for her family to read stories from the books to May. The alcove for her guide dog looks very nice! The orange floor tiling and the oval floor rug for him to lay on is very nice.
The room is so well designed! I enjoyed reading the accompanying background details to the room. Thankyou very much for entering this week's challenge
The carpet is to help guide May along the floor and the pots/pans,etc are in easy reach along the wall. A private space for her guide dog is in the corner of the kitchen.
It doesn't matter at all that you have made a kitchen for May! @BUTTONSGINGER The kitchen is very nice! The open plan layout and the furnishing of the room suits her situation so well. The room allows her space to walk from one place to another. The island bar stool counter is great. May will enjoy sitting on the stools there eating a meal, and will enjoy the fresh smell of the fruit in the fruit bowl. It is nice that there are bottles on the counter to have a drink with a friend who is visiting her. It looks great how you have placed the carpet floor rugs on the floor so as she can tell where she is in the room. The hanging pans look great on the wall for easy access. She will enjoy listening to music through the wall speaker whilst cooking and eating in the room. The alcove section for the guide dog is very nice! It looks nice how you have placed pet bowls there. May will enjoy sitting resting on the armchair whilst her dog sits on the floor rug. The heart teddy looks cute there! It looks nice how you have placed the lights on the walls so as she can feel the lights and know where she is in the room.
It is a very nice room for May! She will enjoy cooking and dining there. Thankyou very much for posting the room and entering this week's challenge
@rosemow Oh...goodie! I am so glad you like May's Kitchen. I had to laugh....Jack walked right in the room without being invited and helped himself to a plate of brownies...so funny! He lives right next door. May didn't even flinch.
