I really don't like waiting an entire year for expansion packs. If the rumours are true and Seasons is next, please don't make me wait until next November.
What if Seasons is not next though? Then you'll have to wait 2 years. Lol Sorry. But I agree, I hate that now we have only 1 EP per year. Stuff packs and game packs don't add the same amount of content an EP can add, which is why I'm always so bored of TS4. Year after year, pack after pack, and there's still so much gameplay missing.

I'm sorry so many are unhappy with the Sims 4, makes me wonder why you all continue to play a game you don't like. It's been explained to me before but it just never makes sense to me. Personally I think they could squeeze out 2 expansion packs a year but the game packs and stuff packs make me happy. And I know if they put out 2 or more expansion packs, at 40 bucks a pop, everyone will then complain about the expense. So they just can't win. Ever. And I DO think Seasons is next.

I mean, there’s pretty clear signs that it is next. But if not, whatever. I’ll probably just move on! I’m already spending less and less time checking in on the forums and I still haven’t played since early August. I haven’t even updated yet. I thought about building a house the other day... then didn’t. If I’m bored waiting now, I’ll definitely be completely over Sims 4 by the time the pack I actually want comes out.
Oh well. Life goes on

I'm not complaining because I don't like this game, on the contrary I really enjoy it, I don't find myself playing the other iterations because of how much I like and appreciate the Sims 4, I'm just raising this as an issue because it infuriates me how slow the releases are between major expansion packs, simply because I want what's best for this game, because I love it so much
To the OP and others who feel similar: I'm sorry that you feel this way. Expansion packs are widely seen as the apple of the eye, and for good reason: they offer the most gameplay (which many hold to a high regard), tend to be the most substantial packs of the bunch, and just generally generate the most hype among the community. Hence, it is entirely understandable that most would be upset with the new release pattern - one year just seems to be far too long a wait; you feel that you may very well lose interest before the next release even happens, and that frustrates you to no end. However, it is important to keep in mind that expansion packs are not the end-all-be-all to your enjoyment of the game. While It's true that GPs and especially SPs are -more often than not- relatively lacking in content when compared to most EPs, they can, at the same time, very well turn out to be just as enjoyable for whatever content they DO offer. Yes, there's no guarantee that you'll enjoy them 100% (and it's perfectly fine to criticize them if you feel the need to), it's still a better alternative to give them a fair chance rather than to shun them. Right now, based on what I've seen here, a lot of you seem to be fixating on the release of the next expansion pack, which results in most of the disregard and animosity towards the various stuff and game packs released along the way. The problem is, it has already been established that the SP to EP release ratio is going to be tipped highly in the SP's favor when compared to past iterations whether we like it or not, which is what makes our constant longing for EPs so detrimental towards our enjoyment of the game. Yes, it's frustrating, but this is why it's important for us to view SPs and GPs in as positive a light as we do EPs, regardless of how easier said than done that is.
I strongly disagree with the statement that Expansions are "widely seen as the apple of the eye". They're honestly just an unfocused GP that doesn't go far enough when it comes to depth, and adds pointless filler objects (Please, give us even more clutter & wall decals. There obviously isn't enough). I will purchase a GP before I buy any kind of expansion since it's actually worth the price tag. Don't even get me started on the throwaway SP's...
EP's used to be "the apple of the eye", now they're the sore on the eye.

I for one would be playing Sims 3 instead iiiiiiif they hadnt left it broken beyond belief before starting 4. I dont really have an option but to suffer through 4 if i want to play Sims at all. This "play old versions if you hate 4" logic is getting super old.
I'd still be using my old computer from 20 years ago if i could but guess what? Going back to the past doesnt work in the real world Better to make the present and future more appealing. We dont want to let our favorite series die just as much as you dont want to hear people complain about it.

I'm sorry for not elaborating. I was referring to the concept behind EPs, rather than the EPs themselves. It's true that they do tend to be created with more gameplay and content in mind compared to SPs and GPs, regardless of wether or not that actually holds true for the sims 4 EPs.

well ... the gap wouldn't feel that important if the EPs would have more content which would make you play for at least a couple of months
but with TS4 it's at best a couple of weeks until you've seen everything & many of the things have not that much replayability value or could have used some more depth to them
i won't be participating in the forums & the gallery anymore - thanks EA
If they reduced the number of stuff packs, they could probably have an EP every 8-10 months. It would mean some years there'd be 2 EPs, and other years only one.
Or ditch the concept of stuff packs completely, and make more game packs.
Here in Oz, stuff packs are $15. They never seem to come on sale, so I never buy them. They'd get more money out of me if there were more EPs and GPs, because they do come on sale, so I do end up buying them.

Well sure, if Stuff Packs, Game Packs and Expansion Packs weren't made by completely different teams.

I think the reason was because of pets. Once seasons comes (if it does) I think the rate will speed up. Those are the two I imagine are heaviest in work involved.

IF they took people off the stuff packs, and put them to working on GPs and EPs, they'd get them done faster.
Why so many stuff packs? They're too expensive for too little content. A lot of players would rather invest in larger packs (that come on sale far more often).
I feel EPs are being very dissapointing. They all feel empty, rushed, and full of shortcuts (maybe with the exception of Get Together).
For me the best value for money and better polished packs for TS4 are Game Packs, so what I wish is that we had one more GP every year.

So basically they should just make GPs and EPs one thing like it used to be lmao if it werent for them coming with smaller worlds GPs would basically be EPs anyway. Why they ever changed it ill never know.

Yes, but that's not how it works. The people on the Stuff Packs added to the people on the GP and EP, you'd firstly be splitting up a team completely and adding them to new teams they've never worked with, and second, you wouldn't suddenly be getting twice as many packs a year, mostly because these new guys would be entering about half-way during the creation of GPs and EPs.
In fact you'd be getting a lot less packs - maybe one more GP, and three or four less SPs.
Finally, the people on the Stuff Packs aren't specialised in the intricate programming needed in a full Expansion Pack that doesn't so much add gameplay as it does give the GP and SP guys a new engine to play with. See how we got Get To Work before Dine Out? Dine Out uses parts of Get To Work's retail system to make a restaurant. Stuff Pack's speciality is new animations for brand new objects.
I'm not saying EA couldn't do with hiring more people. But they need to hire the RIGHT people, not just shut up shop on one type of pack.
I think GP team will be taking advantage of the new Pet engine to make horses - possibly some kind of Showhorse festival that extends to Dogs and Cats if you have them. I don't know when it'll happen - certainly not the next GP. I think they will be taking advantage of all the work in Cats and Dogs to make their Werewolves (that's why we don't have Werewolves yet).
When Seasons comes, the SP team will be using it as an excuse to make all kinds of weather-based items in their Stuff Packs.

I don't agree they don't win. They win everytime somone buys another stuff pack. But with that said, TS3 didn't have any problems not winning people were gobbling up the entire Store and all the EPs and preordering before they even got the announcements out of their mouths. People complained about world prices on the store and store sets prices, and buying the points to buy store stuff, but that didn't stop them from spending it.
