Seems, the need to reinvent these forums has yet to be satiated. I look for the word General, and have a hard time finding it— Because it's been changed to Discussion. Bad enough I'm having to learn Windows 10 on my new laptop (which is totally insane and so different from Windows 7), just throw me ANOTHER curve ball. I LIKE being overwhelmed. But, I do DEMAND an apology to my poor beleaguered brain, in the interim. (You know, the brain that exploded on me nearly 8 years ago. I'm STILL in recovery.)

This constant need to change out design, change out wording, etc., revamping the entire system, reminds me of my younger sister whom I believe had to have been an interior decorator in a past life, since she changes out her furniture like the average person would change their undies! Or the paint, or the wallpaper, the carpet, the flooring, you name it. Or, like my dearly departed mother who used to send me to get the ketchup, only for me to realize it's not where it had been kept for over ten years! Got a bee in her bonnet and put it in the pantry. :open_mouth: So glad I could amuse her. (Yes, I know, most brands tell you to refrigerate after opening, but we didn't in my household growing up. I'm still here.)

That's okay, I'll just remember to look under Discussion from now on. OI! Thank you for allowing me to vent. It's been a tough week so far— and it's only Wednesday!

Just ran into the same thing. Is it really necessary to keep changing these darn things? It gets frustrating! Find something the needs fixing if they have fso darn much time on their hands... like the game perhaps?

Hate to tell you this, but they likely have a completely separate group of people who run the website. But, thank you so much for the response. I just had to rant.

And one other thing I don't get is why is everything under Sims 4 under "Child"?

You noticed this, too? I almost didn't select it. I'm not a child, for one, and I wasn't looking to discuss things, child. LOL

They played with our hearts, and we got lost in the game. :(

Also, I just previously bookmarked the sections I visit the most on Chrome because the previous reorganization made navigating to them more clunky.

I can remember a word like Discussion, I just wasn't prepared for the change. Too many changes in less than a week. I nearly had a meltdown Monday. Sitting at the new laptop trying to figure out which command to reset the darned desktop image. I hated those balloons. I'm not jazzed with what's up there now, but it's better than the balloons, at least. Took over 8 hours to grab the files from my gaming rig to transfer to the laptop. Then the Easy Transfer offered in Windows 7 is no longer available in Windows 10, so I was hosed. I expected the transfer to take an equal amount of time, in which I would merely use this computer. Not so. Woe was me. Couldn't find a way to upload the files from the external hard-drive, and the program offered did nothing. Hubby took over when he got home from work and got the essential files transferred. Today I got a hold of the maker of the new FTM 2017 program and was able to simply download it anew. Things are looking up! And then I come over here … is it pick on GalacticGal week, or something?

I think the new layout is a lot more straightforward. Previously one would see the feedback forum, the general discussion forum, the speculation forum, etc, from the main menu. Upon entering the general discussion forum the newest post link from at the top would frequently be from the speculation or feedback forums, redirecting the user back to a forum that was available from the main menu. Frequently the most recent post displayed at the main menu would be the same in multiple forums.

This new method of organization no longer directs to different subforums from different subforums. That is a great improvement, and much less counter intuitive.

If you say so. I will get used to it either way. If you read my previous post, you'll likely understand why this was just one more thing to send me reeling.

Might I suggest then taking a deep breath. It is just a small restructuring of an internet forum. To say that it is a minor affair would be generous. To that end, I apologize for my incorrect view of said forum structure.

    Agreed.

It'll take some getting used to, but I think less confusion overall than the subforumception design.

It was to the point that I was having to access threads that I was involved in via my profile's post history because of all the cross-reference. This new organization should straighten that out.

Just to be clear, this change comes in the wake of too many changes all at once. If you've never suffered the brain injury I have (and I pray none of you ever will) then you cannot possibly get my point of view. Brain is still healing. Besides, I was just now comfortable with the old forum design. I never did truly like it, but I was used to it, in that I could find my way around. What can I say? @OEII1001 your viewpoint wasn't incorrect, I just didn't think you understood what I was saying. Thank you, again, for your responses, All. And for allowing me to vent.

I was starting to memorize various click patterns myself, but nothing that made a lot of efficient sense to me.

I can sympathize, but yes, I can't get your point of view, as I haven't experienced a brain injury. I hope you will be able to adjust without too much pain and strain.

LOL, Yeah I noticed they keep on pushing TS3 categories down further and making the other older titles section smaller and smaller.

They, did, however, make room for the Sims console, or was that Sims mobile discussion?

Well, support and development for The Sims 3 ended about 4 years ago. EA is more prominently featuring its current Sims titles. That's business.

They've had "Child Categories" already. It's just to make the main page less crowded by adding the "Child Categories". Child Categories is just the sub-categories for the main sections. Just image how much scrolling someone has to do if every category for The Sims 4 was listed on the main page, we would have people complaining that it's taking them forever to get to the TS2/3 and the Mobile sections if everything was listed on the main page. We already have people who feel like that EA/Origin is trying to push TS4 onto the TS3 players by pushing the TS3 section even further down the main page. There was already some people who were in a panic when they got to this site and seen that the TS3 section was no longer listed under the TS4 section like it was before the change as it's now listed under the Mobile section in the The Sims: Legacy Titles.

But that doesn't mean that they should push the TS3 section down to the bottom of the page. That makes the TS3 players feel like that they're not loved anymore and that EA want's to do away with the TS3 game.

I feel your pain, but the same could be said for those still playing Sims2 and the original Sims. I went through the same sort of frustration with the Star Trek franchise. The Original series, Star Trek, in my opinion was and IS the best. Yet, the later series like to grab all the glory. I can't watch them. I just can't watch them. So, I get what you're saying. It hurts being left on the end of the dock seeing the boat you intended to catch leaving you behind in its wake.

I think you're reading way too much into this. EA is featuring its current line of products. But if it makes you feel any better The Sims 4 will be a legacy title one day too.

I'm a TS3 player and I don't feel like that. I can understand why they would have all of the TS4 PC and console sections more prominent being that those are the games that are currently being worked on. TS3 is in the past.

So true but they could had left the other Sims game listed under the TS4 section and called it what they have it now instead of moving up the Mobile section to be under TS4.

Well, Mobile is a current product. It isn't one that I am interested in, but it is one being promoted.

I guess the new changes will have teething issues as usual :no_mouth:

Also good luck with Windows 10!
