Put me on the list. The game is shallow. In earlier iterations it was all about the details, the little refinements that made the game feel like life. But lots of them are missing in 4, the humour is too childish, and the 'emotions' are just painted on.

Of all the negative posts stating almost identical sentiments in this thread, why did you choose this particular one to zero in on? I am genuinely curious.
(It just seems odd)
Dissatisfied with Sims 4 and hoping for a better Sims 5

This is exactly what I was thinking. After pages of comments, why is this one being targeted? It wasn't even the last post that contained a Simmer's opinion.

That's my guess, but I could be wrong *shrugs*

Man I'm always late !!!SIGNED!!! The reason why I'm unhappy with this game is I feel cheated I fell in love with the Sims franchise including the consoles when the first Sims game was shown to me by a dear friend may r.i.p. and I was ecstatic when I saw it blossom into new and more gameplay like I've ever seen Sims 2 we had stories that you'd play off of cars etc... Sims 3 introduced open world but they had one thing in common they still primarily had the same game play some were tweaked and added more content to either the gameplay and the lifestages and the game in general but it wasn't a drastic move like for instances we all know Sims 2 Bella was originally was suppose to in game but a mistake happen they didn't remove her completely from the game they made a story behind her "disappearance" that kept players intrigued. Sims 4 however I feel cheated because it made a big terrible drastic move by taking everything out especially npc no more burglars, police, firemen, and as far as I know the repoman and the school bus I think almost all the Sims games besides castaway had the school buses and taxis it took out the excitement for me it really did instead of adding on to the series it tore it down and especially selling it at a high price for a base game I mean I do thank you for CAS thats awesome how it is and build mode but what about the old stuff that made the game? That's why I'm unhappy and you know toddlers well and add preteens see something old toddlers and something new preteens that I'll get excited over.

Most of my gripes have already been mentioned ad nauseum, but I will just add that my biggest frustration is the lack of consistency within the game world.
Example: 8am, my sim gets up to the sound of his phone ringing. It is an aquaintence asking him to "hang out tonight at this awesome party". I think, yea sure he can go out tonight... except that accepting that invite means he leaves for that 'awesome party' right this instant, not 'tonight'. I take a closer look and the sim who is calling is in fact standing outside his house, clearly NOT on the phone.
Small problem? Maybe to some, but to me it takes my immersive experience out back and beats it to death with a stick. In my mind this issue is the seedy underbelly of all the major issues we discuss so often on these forums. I want continuity, believably, and internal consistency.
Sims should grow larger over time aka they should SHOW visual growth through all the life stages.
Their relationships should follow a believable course aka not be randomly removed or added with out observable causes.
They should behave in a way that is reflective of their traits/experiences/relationships and not completely over powered by randomly generated emotions.
I'm late to the party, just seeing this thread now but I just want to sign this as well.
Main reasons why I stopped playing/won't play again/won't buy any more packs:
(I only bought Outdoor Retreat)
- Babies are stuck to a bassinet with only a handful of interactions. You can't even change their diapers on a changing table or bathe them in a sink. They are literally objects that barely need any attention or care.
- Toddlers don't exist. I'm not going to say why that is bad because it's been said already in other threads.
- Children lack so many kids activities/interactions. Even little things like the little baker oven, playing tag or jump on beds. The kids stuff pack adds new things for them to do, but I miss the old and ordinary things like swings, tree houses.
- Teens are more mature, which is fine, but then there's a huge gap between children and teens and we miss that phase of having your first crush, hitting puberty and dealing with all the challenges it brings (mood swings, acne), being a rebel by sneaking out at night, throwing parties without parents knowing, getting grounded. This could be fixed with preteens.
Basically, there is a great lack of family play in this game and since that is my playstyle, I can't (and don't want to) play it any other way. I don't feel like I'm raising a family when I can't even watch my sim kids grow. They turn from an object baby to a kid that is already fully raised, I don't get to teach that baby how to walk or talk. Then suddenly they grow into a 18 year old teen and my sim parents barely have a say so in their lives and let them do whatever they want. There's no challenge.
Other reasons that contribute to my disappointment overall:
- I understand the no open world thing, I don't mind it, but it bugs me that we don't have open neighborhoods. I hate that my sim is standing right in front of a lot but I have to go through a loading screen in order to enter it. It also makes no sense why neighborhoods are so small if each lot has to load anyway. At least make them bigger and give us more things to do in the public zones.
- Emotions overrule traits and contradict them, sims all act the same way when in a certain emotion. I feel like all sims are the same no matter what traits I choose.
- Goal oriented content that gets repetitive and boring.
- Lack of attention to detail. Dishwashers magically open on their own, sims disappear in the sidewalk when going to work, sims no longer move around when sleeping or stretch when getting up, no cuddling in the middle of the night for couples (it's like they are sleeping in single beds pushed together), etc.
- Needlessly big objects. The telescope, cupcake machine, dollhouse, the slide, etc.
- Rotational play is a nightmare because of the culling, married sims getting random romantic relationships, as well as friendships and enemies.
- No control over the population of each world. I want to be able to decide who gets to live where, there needs to be an option to turn off townie generation as well as supernaturals (ghosts and aliens so far).
I don't see this as changing anything but The Sims 4 is NOT a Sims game! It is the remain of a poorly reassembled online multiplayer game that got scraped! And of course you can't fight against anyone because everyone is entitled and they always argue anyone can play the sims how they want. But that's no true!!! We cannot play The Sims 4 how we want because it is catered to this specific audience of casual gamers who seem to ruin every game! Oh shoot can't say that, some people might get their little feelings hurt and say its disrespectful, grow a spine! The Sims 4 is not I repeat NOT A SIMS GAME They added nothing new except for Oh God how can we forget Rachel always brought it up, emotions. YES! we added emotions but took away other aspects that made the sims series great! And they continue to lie
- No world customization whatsoever, not even being able to place lots
- No terrain tools, no customization
- No toddlers
- Age progression is boring, teens look like YA and YA look like adults, they play almost the exact same way
- No means of transportation, sims live in the void
- Stupid objects that are giant and make no sense
- Graphics that make everything look like plastic (its cute, but textures are bad)
- Shallow gameplay
I played with my niece. She is five years old. Three minutes in - and she asks: "Why do babies become children?"
...from the mouths of babes...
Sign me up.
My niece is 12, she started playing Sims 3 a few months ago. Hoping to free up my PC, I showed her Sims 4. I thought I would buy her her own copy and a laptop that would play it for her birthday coming up. Her comments, among others were telling:
I want two toddlers I don't like those babies they're stupid.
I want that sim and those pants but black. I can't make them black?
No, that table but black. Why can't I have black? I want that frig but black. I can't have black?
(She's into black, lol)
Where do I buy my sim a car? Why aren't there cars?
I want to fix up my town like my other town. Why not? Etc, etc.
We are still playing Sims 3. (And Auntie is about to cough up the cash for her own copies and a desktop to play it).
- The lack of improvement upon older features. Such as an open world and CASt.
- There are lots of limitations on the appearance of objects. I don't mind the set colours. However not being able to use all fabrics etc with all woods etc is limiting.
- The descisions to make some child objects stop working, after children are teenagers does not work. (Void Critters)
- Alternatively. Not having children be able to do things like painting on an easel and garden is not useful.
- The new Nanny doesn't work. They don't actually do anything. Whats more I feel a Nanny is a live in service.
- Baby sitters are needed.
- Larger worlds are needed and semi open worlds. Loading every lot you go into is time consuming and take away from game play.
- The ability to customize worlds is needed.
- The ability to change opacity on make up is needed.
- More diverse jewelry options are needed.
- Toddlers are needed back in the game.
- Pre teenagers or young teenagers would be a welcome additional life stage.
- Having phone game elements like needing secondary objects to complete a task need to be removed (gardening in a planter, fishing using a sign)
I am not so silently judging you. ASD - I think differently to you.
I do occasionally play Sims 4 just to check in on the game "Is it fun yet?" I think that it doesn't correspond with the developtment of the franchise, it more or less got back to the Sims 1 but with better graphics.
Sims 1- Simulated dollhouse. EP's that gave you more to do.
Sims 2 - Simulated dollhouse with generation play and adventures. (Day to day, and holiday activities). EP's that gave depth to the game.
Sims 3 - Simulated dollWORLD with generation play and adventures. (Day to day, and holiday activities). EP's that gave depth to the game. No limits, except for unroutable terrain and disk space.
Sims 4 - Simulated dollhouse. EP's that gave you more to do.
Reasons why I dont' play Sims 4
1. No toddlers
2. No open world
3. So... many... loading... screens!
4. No interesting Lifestages
5. Despite the traits, all sims act, like, and do the same stuff because of the emotions (more or less).
6. Too few traits to really make a sim interesing.
7. In order to get more traits, Sims need to complete aspirations, yet they are not really traits rather boosts.
8. Very slow EP production. No EP have yet given the game more depth.
9. Few "Worlds"
10. Many other reasons that I can't remeber atm...
Maybe if they made Sims 4 into an online community, world, town, city, vacation spot where I could thru my sims interact with other simmers around the world - then I might play more than the 265 hours I've already given it.
Please add my name. I haven't played Sims 4 in months and haven't purchased any thing since GTW and the spa game pack. I would love to love this sim version but it doesn't connect with me. I'm back to playing Sims 2 and 3.
So many reasons have already been mentioned.
Culling
Relationships being changed when rotating to other households
Traits not really defining Sims
Limited ages; object babies, no toddlers, and the similarities of teens, young adults, adults and elders
I'm not a forum poster at all, but I felt that this game warranted another dissenting opinion. I've never played a Sims game less than the Sims 4. It's touted as something where you can be in control of your world and I've never felt more out of control.
It ruined my game when, after I created my main couple and their 3 sets of awesome friends, and trying to rotate between each household, I find out that the spouses are basically all cheating on each other with each other. I was never one to play the already made Sims that populate the neighborhood, so whatever happened to them I didn't really care about, but I care about the people that I make to live out my stories and my stories never involved that.
The traits are terrible. There aren't enough to create a variety.
This might be because I stopped playing a long time ago but from what I remember you can't customize hair color, like with highlights and stuff.
I hadn't even gotten to the point of having kids because I stopped playing in January but taking out toddlers was terrible and it sounds like the rest of the aging system is crappy too.
Relationship culling. Nuff said from people who say it better than me.
I remember picking out the original Sims at WalMart with my mom and saying, this game sounds cool. I can remember my hand getting frozen from using the mouse for so long on Sims 1, 2, and 3, but 4 has been a huge disappointment. My new laptop is able to handle 4 easily but I'm headed back now to uninstall 4 and go back to 3.
I signed already but I still have more to say about this flop. Isn't it sad that people have to make petitions like this to get good quality they are paying for? It's ridiculous. I didn't buy the game but I see how unhappy people are and EA doesn't care. They will care if every person on this forum stops buying their low quality overpriced flop games. There is only so much customers will take of crap quality before they stop buying stuff. There is only so much.

Sims 4 brought in some nice things like multitasking but the world of Sims 4 still feels empty
No Toddlers
Lack of Family Play
Glued to crib Babies
Lack of things to do for Parents To Be ( No Baby showers ??? )
Elders have nothing to do
No Preteens ( We need Preteens like Sims 2 Teens to fill the age gap )
Aging doesn't feel like a challenge anymore
No Open Neighborhood
The game gets really boring fast with lack of new big content ( Where's the 3rd expansion pack ? )
Lack of traits and most traits act the same as the other ones
