Thinking of how split the community is into pro-burglar and contra-burglar players, I consider the burglar fox some kind of compromise. And that's why I wouldn't bet on us getting real burglars in the game anymore.

Are people really against burglars in game? Most people on here appear to very pro-burgler. I get not wanting them because they may get annoying, but hopefully there is a toggle to just turn them off.

I don't consider a fox to be a good compromise and hope we get burglars in the future.

They were always toggable. It's called a burglar alarm.

I think that may be how it worked in TS3, I don't really remember... but in TS2 at least, the alarm didn't stop the burglars from entering. They could still break in and steal your stuff, the alarm just woke up the household and contacted the police.

Yes, in TS2 the cops didn't always arrive in time.

Alarms (and Burlgars) woke up everyone in the house in TS3. I never EVER saw the police actually apprehend them, even when my Brave sim successfully fought them. The alarms were next to useless at preventing a huge disruption to play, sleep schedules, school/work readiness.

I absolutely DO NOT WANT burglars in TS4 and am happy they are gone. Yes, people are anti-burglar for valid reasons. It looks like the foxes are optional. Good.

well I don't think you have anything to worry about I think you may have been right when you said
that the sims team doesn't add things some people don't want and they always remove things people don't like
even if we do like them @Sindocat
more for sim kids and more drama please

I doubt we'll get burglars. People are too sensitive nowadays. Just look at what the Sims have become. Everything is perfect in TS4, nothing bad usually happens. I like TS4, but I think it could be sooooooooooo much better.

I would like to have burglars back just for purely nostalgic reasons. They were an interesting complication in Sims 1 and 2. I once had a Sim in Sims 2, just after getting Open for Business, who was barely making ends meet with her business and a robber came in and stole her stock. It was a terrible tragedy and the business really went down after that. It took me ages to get it back up again. It was the type of an unexpected curve that the sims games used to throw at you, which I actually enjoyed. When I had burglar alarms, I never had trouble with cops coming to arrest and catch the criminals in any iteration of the sims, but sometimes you didn't get the stolen objects back, only the equivalent value in money.

I think burglars could be implemented in Sims 4 in a sensitive way. I agree that you should be able to toggle them off if you so desire. But those of us who want them back should be able to have them as an option especially since they've been in the franchise from the very beginning. I think they could create a new animation where a sim with enough fitness could put a burglar in a form of citizen's arrest, and likewise they could easily implement a non-violent form of arrest for the police to use as well; it could even have a certain percentage of a failure rate, with the burglar escaping, just keep things interesting.

I also agree with the idea that it would be nice to have more (non-violent) crime in the game. I like to play a certain percentage of deviant sims in the criminal career. So I want my criminal sims to be able break into other sims' houses and steal their art, expensive, large objects and sell them on a kind of black market. It would also be neat if they could break into my celebrities' vaults and steal some of their money (in large amounts). And, of course, there should be consequences; they should be able to get caught as well and have heavy fines, maybe even jail time (in a rabbit hole). Being the Sims 4, though, I doubt these sorts of challenges will ever appear in the game, just like I doubt we will ever get a Sims 4 version of the Casino set from the Sims 3 store.

I'm wishing someday, someone, somewhere takes The Sims back to The Sims where life happens and the Sim has to deal with it. That would be my type of game, no whining about take this or that out. Life is not a bowl of cherries and Sims shouldn't live in a bowl of cherries. Stuff happens. Free the Sims to be the Sims, again. Let them live and breathe life. All the good, bad and ugly.

Interesting observation. Maybe we will? I hope we get them with a full on Superhero/Villainy pack so we could have even more crime in the game. I really want some more grit like we got in Vampires.

Well I don't think we should pay a pack for burglars...

How would we go about stealing it?!

The best option would be to make it an optional Lot Trait that comes with the base game, and then possibly have a pack that expands on it. Maybe a pack about Burglars.
That way, anyone sensitive to the issue can disable it. I wish this game had toggles, and we could just turn certain features off...

People would love some of the build/buy options and buy it for that, then yell that there are too many burglar break ins and get them nerfed unless it is a lot trait. Then some will want it removed even if it is a lot trait because reasons. I loved burglars in the Sims 3; I never had any issues with the police getting to the lot, though sometimes they would lose the fight and the burglar would get away with my stuff.
