@simscognito LOL
I'm waiting to hear back about a snippet from the short story I started for the monthly contest to see if the content fits within the guidelines or not...even if it doesn't I'm still going to use it for another project I'm outlining/drafting. The mermaid gameplay and the new world have been inspiring. Here's the snippet...
Darkness swallowed the islands as the full moon rose and tiny stars glittered in the clear sky. Smoke from a bonfire further down the beach spiraled into the air. The calm waters rolled over the feet and ankles of a tall, muscular, young man who stood staring out at the ocean.
Wylie Luck ran a hand through his damp brown hair then pulled his t-shirt up and over his head. He jogged along the shore heading toward the cottage he and his brothers were renting for the summer. His ears plum up at a soft noise, and he paused to listen.
It sounded like a woman singing.
The haunting melody cocooned Wylie and beckoned him forward. He waded deeper and deeper into the water, following the voice. A shimmering swath of moonlight rippled as a head broke the surface. The woman smiled and continued to sing as she reached for him.
Wylie recognized her face and emerald green eyes and tried to swim away.
But the mermaid was faster.
She grabbed Wylie and dragged him below the surface, holding him in a tight embrace until his struggles slowed and eventually stopped.
@NyteRose I love how you've set the scene here. And can picture this clearly.
@simscognito I got the ok on the snippet and am still working on the draft. I have all my screenshots taken...but I'm having issues inserting the pics into my WP post. I tried doing it through the Admin panel and the new/old editors and grrr. I still have large gaps between the shots and text... I'm about to quit

@NyteRose Aw I'm sorry about that. Unfortunately I don't use WP so I can't help you, sorry.
Maybe ask in writer's lounge to see if anyone can help you there?
@NyteRose I hate WP's new format for creating posts. I actually installed a plug-in to use the old one instead. If your image issues didn't get resolved elsewhere, send me a PM. I'm no expert, but I'll see what I can do to help. (Love Caleb's merman look, btw!)
@simscognito You're more ahead than I am. I know the major beats for my story, but often my chapters get planned in the moment. Lots of writing and revising. ^_^

I have found the issue- it was the resizing itself. If I resize the pictures with a Paint program, the images/text gaps disappear and everything aligns correctly. YAY! I just have to re-resize my screencaps

@NyteRose I'm glad you found the issue. Sounds complicated.
Whew! Okay, I had to actually go back and check what chapter I last posted here. I think most everyone here has also seen my thread, but here's the chapters since the last week I was up, for anyone who missed them:
As far as questions go, I'm curious if it's obvious who the man is in "Master of the Bay" and how the events there are going to play into the overall plot.
I'm also wondering how everyone feels I'm handling Bella Goth. In my mind, she's sort of this woman who's done it all and is just looking for something new and exciting in her life right now.
@katrinasforest I couldn't figure out who the man in "Master of the Bay" was but I'm betting it's Vlad or Morty Goth, maybe? Or Jaques Villareal? Such a cute cat story, btw ^^. As to the fairies... do both if you want
It's actually Kyle. I figure he's always off making odd friends. First a ghost, then a cat. ^_^ I'll be sure to make it a little more clear when it becomes plot-relevant later on.
But you also make a good point I haven't shown Morty Goth yet or anyone in the Villareal family besides Max. I need to ponder this now.

@katrinasforest aww I was late to figuring out the mistery man. Kyle? That's interesting. As for handling Bella Goth, I haven't really been that interested in the sim in the franchise, but I like your take on her.
As for the simLit challenge story, I'm going to read it now.
@simscognito@NyteRose Thanks for the comments! Okay, canon they shall be. Though that means I now really should think of names for all of them. Erm...aside from Clover and Sea-Glass, any suggestions? ^_^;;

Thanks to @simscognito for letting me post. I'm Blue, and my story, The Forgotten Hollow Tinies, is a Who's Your Daddy (26 Baby) Challenge with a Gothic flavour. It is part plot-based storytelling, part reporting-style.
When Amelia Zara Livingstone has a brush with death, the Grim Reaper postpones the tragic event in exchange for her promise to fulfil a mission. It turns out conveying the souls of the dead is tough work, and he could use some helpers. 26, to be precise - 1 for each letter of the alphabet.
The Reaper charges Amelia with the task of romancing the men of the nearby towns, and giving birth to these 26 future Reapers within her remaining years. If she succeeds, she'll have the time of her afterlife. If not, then her eventual death will only be the start of a worse fate...
@katrinasforest Are you still looking for fairy names? If so, I suggest Googling fairy or fantasy names or even reading up on Polynesian fairy folklore...maybe you can work that lore into your own canon somehow? Hawaiian/Polynesian names would be a good source of inspiration or nature-themed names in general (ex. Althaleia Willowbark, a play on the healing herb althea if your fairy has healing powers.) Feel free to use the example name and good luck!
@NyteRose Thanks! I'm still looking, for sure. I like your example. I might use that for the green-haired fairy. So far their family names have all had that dual noun setup, so Willowbark works well. (Clover's family name is Dewmaker, and the red fairy's family name is Sleepbringer--though I've been iffy on him.) I'll take your advice on Googling, too.
I'll post them in the gallery when I know they all are. ^_^
@bookloverblue Welcome to the group! I'll get started on reading your story asap.

I still haven't decided if this whole class of fairies in Sulani should be canon in Clanbuilding or maybe have their own story. Opinions?
That's all I can think of! Thanks for reading, everyone.
