Thanks for the post! Looks like I shouldn't have spent so much time lurking and not posting.
Hello @bad1788
I hope that you will soon get the required posts and points
The off topic section is a good place to post. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/off-topic-chat
You will soon get the required points and posts if you also post about your simming experiences on threads that you are interested in the thread topics.
Reading and posting on threads in the Stories and Legacies section is great. The simmers there would appreciate your feedback on their Stories and their legacies.
Happy simming!
I don't really like this system. It basically compels me to spam the forum in hopes of getting likes, so that I can get enoguh points to just change my avatar or post a picture in ideas corner. Ridiculous.

@Olaf15, just find threads that hold your interest and post in them. You can also go over to the Creative Corners of whichever game you're interested in and give feedback to the legacies and/or picture threads. If you're giving constructive feedback, then it's not considered spamming...
@lisasc360 Yes, I try to give constructive feedback, but I still think the number of points to just change an avatar is too high and there's not enough things you can actually do to earn those points.

@Olaf15, you also earn badges which give out points to help you along the way.
Here is a list of badges since the link on the 1st page is broken...
Badges for The Sims Anniversary
1st Year = 5 points
2nd Year = 5 points
3rd Year = 5 points
4th Year = 5 points
5th Year = 5 points
6th Year = 5 points
7th Year = 5 points
8th Year = 5 points
9th Year = 5 points
10th Year = 5 points
Ancient Membership = 5 points
The Miscellaneous Badges
Combo Breaker = 5 points
Name Dropper = 5 points
Photogenic = 10 points
This system was put in place due to some members wanting to post and use unwanted, illegal and nasty pictures in their avatars. Banning the people doing this things didn't help as the banned member can create a new account and do the sane thing over and over again until they get banned again and create yet another account. So EA had put these requirements in place to weed out any would be trolls. Of course back then, new members could make new threads, they just couldn't have an avatar, post pictures or share links to other websites and send PM's to other members. Then the spambot attacks that took place in 2016 and then EA took away the New Discussion button for New Members until they obtained all of the requirements.
50 points isn't really a lot of points. EA could had upped it to 150-200 points but they figure that 50 points was more reasonable and easier to obtain. They feel that doing it this way, it would get the new members as well as the older members in constructive conversation of their favorite game and not just posting a bunch of nonsense stuff that has nothing to do with the topic that they're posting in.
@lisasc360 Thanks, I know that you get points for budges, but most of them you get from people liking or somehow interacting with your posts, which brings me back to my first point: you need to spam in hopes of people liking your posts so that you can unlock basic forum options.

@Olaf15, you almost have your 50 points as you have 42 at the moment. You just need to make more comments to get to 30 posts. Try going over to the Off Topic section and join in on the many word/story games and other Off Topic games that they have going on over there...
I was surprised when I come here, at US forum. For all this time I was convinced that my account is the same for all languages versions. I made a cat in game and thought "It's a nice cat, I want to show it to others"... BOOM! Not so fast, you crazy girl! :D Catch this, it's a list of goals you must done if you want to upload photos - 50 point and 30 posts. 30?! I'm extrely shy, that will be a long way...

Hello @Fredra
Welcome to the forums!
You receive a point each time another simmer presses like or awesome or insightful on a post that you have posted. Keep posting on the different threads and sections of the forums and you will soon get the points/posts. I know how you feel, @Fredra . I always feel really self-conscious posting things. My inner voice always insists that no one's interested in hearing what I have to say. But I'm finding that people here are incredibly nice and helpful. Just pace yourself and don't think you have to rack up points or comments all rightnowthisverysecond. I've been taking my time and reading things that interest me and then commenting on those. The points have added up surprisingly quickly. And, like I said, everyone here so far has been really nice.
Hi, not quite sure how this works but it still says I'm a new member but I have 58 points and 100+ posts and you need 50 points and 30 posts to be a member. So I don't understand why it still says I'm a new member. I've tried logging out and refreshing the page multiple times but nothing has worked.

You need to also have an account for over 24 hours. You may not have gone over the 24 hours mark yet.

Try going over to The Sims 4 General Discussion section and post in the "What happened in your game today?" thread. Threads like those move pretty quickly as they get commented on several times a day by players of that game...
