Happy Death Roll... guess it was just that time for these fur babies to pass over that rainbow bridge. Happy was the first born in game pup to family. He brought much happiness to Frances and Max.

Then at the end of the year Edward takes time to play with his brothers before they age up. Thomas and Arthur become teenagers.
Frank presents Edward with a gift. It is the camera his mothered used to take pictures. She loved taking pictures and felt like it could help Edward not be so sad all the time.
WAR.. That is what Lewis hears on the radio in September. World War 2 has began overseas and it is only a matter of time before the US joins in.
Then its Christmas time. Because the season is upon us I made a few shots of Lewis's family.
I am looking so forward to the 40's. Not sure how the family's will play out just yet but I'm excited to see where it goes. Frank has definitely had his fair share of heartache. Not sure if I want him to remain a bachelor as he has the loner trait or eventually meet someone again. Then there's who's going to be going to war and who isn't. Who will survive and bring home a War Bride?
And yes I couldn't resist on adding some Captain America to the game given the years to come. I think it fits in. Of course mine aren't super heroes just ordinary sims fitting into this challenge.
I'm glad I got to play for a bit and get these posted. I love taking pictures and seeing the memories unfold. Not sure when I'll get a good minute to play again but I'm already thinking about doing the history challenge next... that or an apocalypse survival challenge. But one thing at a time. Who knows by the time I actually get to finishing this one, given when I can play in the coming months, a Sims5 could be announced...
Rushing in to the 1940s we have a few birthdays and welcome a new fur baby.
First we begin our year with the 50th Birthday of Mr. Nathaniel Wellington. And what a party it was...
After which Nate gave his beautiful wife Anna a gift. A new fur baby named Biscuit. He is a Golden Retriever.

Dorothy became pregnant...
John Ages into a teenager. And Lewis spent time visiting family. He went to see Mary and get to know her little ones. Delores decided to learn the piano. Warren spent most his time training Bacon.
And here he is Ladies and Gentlemen... Don Johnson, ages to a teenager. I have to say I think Ruth has produced some seriously good looking children. While I am using CC even without it they don't look much different than they do with it. (which got me thinking, why am I even using cosmetic CC, but I was looking for wrinkles and more skin details like freckles, and moles and the like. Then I came across some skin overlays that have some near realism detail to them and I fell in love with the Aphrodite Skin by PralineSims and just downloaded a whole bunch of what they had. Now I am in love and obsessed with finding realistic skin overlays. I did find some others I like but the other skin details won't appear when using them and I like to use the freckles and the body hair tatts. I have Frances in the aphrodite skin since she was very overweight until the 1930s and lost it during the depression...)

Toward the end of the year Lewis had a family get together. Thanks to the memorable events mod by KAWAIISTACIE, I was able to invite everyone. Now that's not to say it did not have its issues as it was hard to gather everyone in one space for a picture of them all. (Gonna have to figure that one out, which I think I'll to use poseplayer. Not that I mind just takes a long minute to set everyone up.)
So Lewis goes straight to Steve and talks about the war, while Frances corners Frank trying to get him to meet a friend of hers. Neither seemed very interested in continuing those conversations. So then we moved onto trying to get everyone to eat but instead of grabbing a plate and eating at the long family table they grabbed plates and went their own ways (which is very similar to real life family get togethers).

And this is The Old Farm home during the winter. I have made some improvements on the home to make it more accommodating to the growing family. But I love how it looks in the winter.
1941... Will be done in sections as families prepare to send their loved ones off to War. WW2 began in 1939, and the US joined December of 1941 but was in full deployment in 1942. From then to 1945 any teen turning into a Young Adult will be drafted into the war for at least 1 year in service. Then in 1945 those who have been in longer will come home first as their was a point system to whom was discharged to the states between the end of the war and January of 1946 when they began mass demobilization due to disgruntled soldiers. (I am putting "disgruntled soldiers" mildly as there were protests and riots involved due to soldiers wanting to return home)
Before we head to War we have a couple birthdays.

Then Ernest turns 18...
Biscuit actually ages in 1942, but I prematurely aged him early...
Then Paul Johnson turns 50. Ruth got him a car. (this car is the closest I could find to something looking similar to what they had in the 40s, the only difference is this is a smaller version that would be more seen in the 60s).
On that same day Dorothy Rogers went into labor... Welcome Carol Rogers

Lewis spends an hour everyday listening to talk radio on news of the war. And this is Bacon, I just thought he was too cute laying by the FP.
We start with Frances's Family. Due to Steve already being in the military career he was going to be deployed Mid year of 41 as he volunteered to serve and aid the European sector. Since Robert is a YA he enlisted early and Roger took him along to keep a safe eye on him. I sure wish them the best of luck.
Dorothy listens to the radio and "WAR" is soon upon them. Robert walks in in his Uniform and due to Max being left a bit paranoid from the last war he was proud, weirded out, and concerned all at the same time. Dorothy was saddened as she was losing both her brother and husband and feared she may never see either of them again.
I did add some CC to him but they did a wonderful job at creating him. I have made Sims that resemble old hollywood actors and others but it takes me several hours if not days to make them. While I wouldn't mind making all the sims and building all lots for this challenge I really just want to focus on the gameplay for it. If I do this challenge again I will definitely be making some builds for it.
It wasn't long after Steve Rogers left for the European sector and Robert McDermott went into training the military went into full deployment.
Steve trained those coming in and spent his time on the front lines.
After training Robert was assigned to work at the European Headquarters. Aside from running errands for the Top Brass and cleaning up the building area, he also became a runner carrying messages into the field.
We start with Anna's family.
Anna and Nate knew their son would have to go. They were prepared for it but wasn't quiet prepared to actually see him go. The day he came home in his uniform before heading out they too had also decided to return to the battle front. Since Nate was a Doctor in the military for the first War he and Anna had no issues joining the civilian side and working hospital locations. But because they are civilians they were not allowed on the frontlines and had to stay in safe zones. Though no zone was truly safe due to air raids...
Nate and Anna, while assigned to the hospital they did make trips to Headquarters and would get to see Robert there. Biscuit went with Anna and went everywhere she did.
Ernest was trained to be a pilot as he had some experience already thanks to his dad's hobby of flying.
1942... the timeline gets a little mixed up here. Edward Damme and the Twins Warren and Delores aged in 1941. Which happened on the same in-game day on the last day of the year that covers the months of October, November, and December. So they aged on the same day WW2 starts in-game. The following day marks January, February, and March of 1942 so for those old enough they would've went through basic training then assigned to units going to either the European Sector or the Eastern Sector.
1941 to 1943 Frank's Family... Edward had turned 18 in 1941. Just as soon as he did he joined the military. His father, Frank was not too happy about it. While he and his son had their issues with one another, he loved Edward and didn't want him to see him go. Though he may not of had a choice in it rather volunteer or eventually be drafted, Edward was going. Edward couldn't wait to leave and promised his brother's he would write them whenever he could. Once soldiers completed their basic training they were sent to the field.
Edward was assigned to a Calvary Unit. Which there was a lot of transitioning going on before making boots on the ground in 1943.
1941 to 1942 Lewis's Family... The twins Warren and Delores age to teenagers. Though the war would begin no one was old enough to join just yet.
1942 to 1943 Ruth's Family...
At the start of 1942 Steve Rogers ages to an Adult and mid-year William ages to adult. William was fortunate that he was not required to join the military. But once WW2 began he and his family did what they could to support the war efforts.
Later mid-year the triplets age to young adults. They were all sent out. George and Betty joined Edward in the East as Virginia was sent to Europe. Betty went as a nurse and Virginia worked as a mechanic.
Betty... On top of her duties as a nurse she would help with the USO performances.

1941 to 1942 Mary's Family... Connor had to join up and was sent to the East. Their triple's aged to child.
In 1943 we visit our troops, welcome new family members, and have a birthday.

Mary had kept a secret from her family until the time came. She gave birth and she had TWINS Linda and Michael Shelton.... so given the 2 extra little ones she knew she was gonna need some help and called her mom Ruth. Ruth came and visited for quiet a while. She grew a bit worried that Mary's apartment was too small for 5 children. She talked to Mary about maybe moving back at home. Mary appreciated the offer but she wasn't ready to leave the home her and Connor had made just yet.
Once Connor had heard of the birth of his children he had longed even more for home. They had been on a mission and were on there way back to the allied forces base. There Betty had aided the USO in a performance for those returning from the field. And she met a mysterious man.
We end the year with Patricia Rogers ageing up to child.
Thank You @Kellogg_J_Kellogg I enjoyed putting on a USO show. It was a bit tricky trying to get everyone together though.

This is a bit of a short year but with plenty of screenshots. Some fur babies age up, the battle at Normandy took place, and Frank's Twins age up to young adults just in time to join the fight.

History Lesson: The battle at Normandy took place from June 44 to August 44. It is known as D-Day and resulted in the Western Europe freedom from control. Over 160,000 allied soldiers landed on the beaches, of which 73,000 were U.S. Soldiers. There were about 4414 allied deaths though the number is debatable. Of those deaths 2501 were American. To commemorate this I did a death roll for male soldiers in Europe Sector. Steve Rogers who sadly loses his life.

Robert wrote his sister and his remains were sent home. Dorothy was devastated. Their little girls would never see their father again.
Thomas and Arthur become Young Adults and join the military. With all his boys gone Frank was left alone. He decided to take in a kitten named Rye.
@Lyb You don't really have to download a whole lot to do the challenge if any at all. Specially if you have all the packs. I didnt have that much when I first started out but I really got into the CC I was finding and got a bit overboard.

We all know 1945 was a big year for near about everyone in History. It marked the end of WW2.
1945 Started off with John Damme's Birthday, he aged to a young adult. I pondered sending him to War but figured just turning 18 the war would be over by the time he was done with training. So any young adults that missed WW2 will be drafted into the next one.

After they aged up this apartment is becoming a bit too small as all 5 children now share a room. Though I am tempted for the to continue to live here, make it all more real like. If you are reading this what do you think should they stay here and make do or move into a bigger apartment?
The Battle over Iwo Jima... I won't go into detail only say that it was one of the largest Marine and Navy deployed battles for the US during World War II. It is seen as one of the Victories marking the end of the war. A lot of soldiers both Japanese and American passed on the Battle field. I decided to go ahead and do Death Rolls for my Eastern Sector Soldiers. Surprisingly everyone lived...
Donald Johnson ages to Young Adult. His father sent him straight to the University where he will be studying Drama as he hopes to be a great Actor.

WW2 Ends with a great big HooRah!!! I did another Death Roll for everyone and again everyone survived. I was quiet shocked but very glad.
Lewis was Happy to hear the end had come. His family would be coming home...
Naturally it wasn't as easy as all that. Since the military based being discharged on a point system a lot of soldiers remained overseas waiting for their chance to go home. There was also something known as "Operation War Bride" where over 70,000 women and children were eventually transferred to the US in 1946.
First to head home was Robert McDermott with his French wife Nancia Beaufort
Ernest and his Italian wife Sophia Vilani along with Anna and Nathaniel Wellington.
The last to head home in 1945 is Edward and his Wife Chiyo Sayuri.
In 1946 it was time for all the WW2 soldiers to return home.
Robert brings Nancia to see his family. They inform them there will be an addition to the family.
Before the twins came home Edward introduces Chiyo to Frank. She is also expecting.
First to come home in 46' is Connor Shelton

Last, twins Arthur and Thomas come home.
After everyone returned home Lewis threw a family reunion.
Dorothy ages to adult while Chiyo goes into labor at her Birthday Party. While Betty is reintroduced to her mystery man back on the Eastern Front, a British Soldier named Henry Hughes.
Edward welcomes Sayuri Damme into the family.
The following next couple months Robert welcomed Marie McDermott into the family.
I stumbled upon this topic and read your whole story, it's fascinating . Has there been a sequel since the last few months?
I will still be continuing this story. I've just been taking a break from video games, not just the sims but all games. Going through some personal stuff and trying to get back on track.
But I promise this story is far from over. I am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

So good to see this story back! As always I'm most impressed with the period fashions and home decor and the fact that all the Sims you've created for this game are fabulously good looking. I swear some of them, like Henry, are based on movie stars...Henry has a Robert Mitchum vibe about him and George resembles Robert Wagner. So many marriages and births....you've got a generation of Boomers there!

We all know 1945 was a big year for near about everyone in History. It marked the end of WW2.
1945 Started off with John Damme's Birthday, he aged to a young adult. I pondered sending him to War but figured just turning 18 the war would be over by the time he was done with training. So any young adults that missed WW2 will be drafted into the next one.

After they aged up this apartment is becoming a bit too small as all 5 children now share a room. Though I am tempted for the to continue to live here, make it all more real like. If you are reading this what do you think should they stay here and make do or move into a bigger apartment?
The Battle over Iwo Jima... I won't go into detail only say that it was one of the largest Marine and Navy deployed battles for the US during World War II. It is seen as one of the Victories marking the end of the war. A lot of soldiers both Japanese and American passed on the Battle field. I decided to go ahead and do Death Rolls for my Eastern Sector Soldiers. Surprisingly everyone lived...
Donald Johnson ages to Young Adult. His father sent him straight to the University where he will be studying Drama as he hopes to be a great Actor.

WW2 Ends with a great big HooRah!!! I did another Death Roll for everyone and again everyone survived. I was quiet shocked but very glad.
Lewis was Happy to hear the end had come. His family would be coming home...
Naturally it wasn't as easy as all that. Since the military based being discharged on a point system a lot of soldiers remained overseas waiting for their chance to go home. There was also something known as "Operation War Bride" where over 70,000 women and children were eventually transferred to the US in 1946.
First to head home was Robert McDermott with his French wife Nancia Beaufort
Ernest and his Italian wife Sophia Vilani along with Anna and Nathaniel Wellington.
The last to head home in 1945 is Edward and his Wife Chiyo Sayuri.
In 1946 it was time for all the WW2 soldiers to return home.
Robert brings Nancia to see his family. They inform them there will be an addition to the family.
Before the twins came home Edward introduces Chiyo to Frank. She is also expecting.
First to come home in 46' is Connor Shelton

Last, twins Arthur and Thomas come home.
After everyone returned home Lewis threw a family reunion.
Dorothy ages to adult while Chiyo goes into labor at her Birthday Party. While Betty is reintroduced to her mystery man back on the Eastern Front, a British Soldier named Henry Hughes.
Edward welcomes Sayuri Damme into the family.
The following next couple months Robert welcomed Marie McDermott into the family.
The twins Warren and Delores become Young Adults.
Rye is now an Adult.
I will still be continuing this story. I've just been taking a break from video games, not just the sims but all games. Going through some personal stuff and trying to get back on track.
But I promise this story is far from over. I am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Ruth turns 55 as they visit with Williams Family. William has had 2 more children a teenager named Raelynn and adopted a son named Arjun Johnson. They then visit their granddaughter Octavia who moved to the city marrying Sergio Lothario and having 2 kids, Asher and Hannah Lothario. Ruth and Paul visit whenever they are in the city.
