  • Yeah, sims completing tasks they've started on upon leaving would also be great. I'm not sure if it's possible or not for that to happen, but it irritates me when I've left them to write a novel and none of it gets done when the other sims are out and about.
  • I pretty much only give my active sims a makeover when they age up. I'll create a new inactive family and move them into the neighborhood whenever I want to test out new pack items or CC. Townies only get makeovers when they're wearing something I really can't stand (like gray ankle socks with purple open-toed high heels…
  • The article isn't arguing that such players are invisible to the actual developers and publishers. Such entities are highly aware of them due to telemetry and sales data. "The vocal gamers are the visible upper crust of the hobby, but those who move silently hold most of the power, simply due to their buying habits.…
  • None at all! I know I've been that annoying friend, and I'm trying to improve. But sometimes I just can't help myself.
  • Yes, "invisible gamers" are the silent majority playerbase of most AAA games, not hardcore forumites. The latter likely compose of roughly 5% of everyone who buys the game. The people who go on forums are fan(atic)s. They are passionate about the topic in one way or another. Generally, people tend to be passionate about a…
  • Thank you so much for sharing this. I started crying because I was laughing so hard.
  • The clipping in TS4 isn't ideal for immersion, but I vastly prefer it to routing error tantrums. Besides, it makes me laugh.
  • @Sourocha Love that last shot!
  • I don't think I ever saved my screenshots of TS3, so... Yuki Behr and Joaquin Le Chien taking "until death do us part" to a new level: Cloudgazing with x-ray vision: I'm always amazed by what the body is capable of with yoga:
  • @Tomatplante I'm pretty sure I caught it in the back pond of the Oasis Springs park using catfish as bait. The pond is not in the park proper. These photos from Carl's Sims Guide helped me out: EDIT: I may have used treefish instead of catfish as bait? I do remember I caught several treefish at the Sylvan Glade, and at…
  • I love seeing everyone's sims and the different playstyles in this thread. I've come back to feature more Grim and silly things that I enjoyed! One of my sims had a birthday party to celebrate becoming an elder. "Party like the Grim Reaper's not around the corner" was never so hilariously inappropriate, as Grim…
  • There are a couple of mods that make the cowplant more deadly, but unfortunately they no longer work and are in need of updating.
  • The chain mechanic has piqued my interest. Will we be able to run successful businesses from home like in TS2:OFB? Call in with that branch's manager and check in from time to time? Also, all the food looks amazing. I'm very excited to see a greater variety in cuisines!
  • I would love scheduling to come back. The first time my sim got an invitation was in the middle of her work day, and I accepted because I thought "tonight" meant after work. Whoops. Invited social events are bugged for me too. The first 2 birthday parties I attended went okay, but now they have a tendency of either…
  • I've used it much more in TS4 than in previous games, but I still don't use it much outside of wall decorations. It does make the houses look more realistic and aesthetically pleasing, but I usually don't enjoy buying or spending time placing a bunch of objects that can't actually be used.
  • I don't mind that emotions are over the top in terms of animation, personally. I've always viewed the sims as cartoony, so the animations seem appropriate. I also play pretty zoomed out, so I never really notice their facial expressions. I never noticed happy sims had that permanent half-moon smile until I read about it…
  • I have yet to play any of the games past Liberation, but AC:B has my favorite gameplay, Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor is my favorite assassin, and AC1 has the most interesting story.
  • @Polyrhythm The gardening one especially drives me up a wall because gardening sims seem unable to multitask. I have a patio right next to the kitchen for the garden, and I always had to keep an eye on sims to make sure they weren't dropping everything in their queue to try to speak to whoever was tending the herbs at the…
  • He was pretty creepy in TS1. But I was 16 years younger. Starting from TS2 on, though, I've always thought of him as kind of endearing.
  • Schroedinger's toddlers, lol.
  • @kremesch73 Your post made me think of Ultima IX. The 3D in IX was not worth everything they sacrificed. Also, I'm sorry none of the Tomb Raider games have managed to capture the magic for you after 1 and 2. I think most of us have been there with some series at some point. :disappointed: As for games in general…
  • Of course. That's true for many video games. People who go into creative mediums have thousands of ideas they'd like to make reality. Games tend to undergo significant content cuts somewhere from beginning to end because some ideas end up being bad and many end up being beyond the scope of what the team can afford in terms…
  • @poppykoke "Zots" is a shorthand way of saying "the limited amount of time and money and resources given to develop something in a game." It's slang I picked up from the BioWare forum, many moons ago.
  • If my long years lurking (and occasionally posting) on gaming forums and listening to game developers have taught me anything, it's that forum members are not indicative of the average person playing the game. Toddlers are a big deal here, but I would not be a bit surprised to learn that the percentage of people who…
  • He's frequently fishing and sometimes clubbing in my game. I've also seen him at the gym once or twice. I like it, personally. The idea that Grim is just kind of a chill dude who has an unpleasant job amuses me. He's just trying to make a living to enjoy his hobbies on the side, like so many of us.
  • Yeah, I'd rather they not sit down and chat unless I directly tell them to since we now have that command. And I don't want to turn free will off just so they'll stand and chat like people often do. The musical chairs bug (in my game, at least) seems to be connected to their desire to always sit and chat since they have to…
  • Simply amazing.
  • @LosaruTaiyo Thanks! @Lightfield Outside of his profession, Grim seems to be a pretty chill dude overall in my game. His favorite activities include fishing and the occasional nightclub outing.
  • I'm so glad to see all the storytellers in this thread! I used to read stories avidly in TS2 when they had the story section on the community website that you could search through. Good times. I don't really have a story for my current family, but I do have some random screenshots of things that made me happy. Casually…
  • In TS1 and TS2, I play rotationally with all kinds of sims. For TS3 and TS4, single family generational (which I prefer, thanks to story progression). I guess I'm also completionist in the sense that I always try to eventually max out all skills, jobs, aspirations, and so on over the course of the legacy. I don't play the…
