  • I've never fully explored that mailbox's options before. I was never keen on the idea of using a holiday-themed mailbox for a year-round house. However, I liked the overall style of the mailbox and wanted to see if anything was there I could use. The house I was selecting for was pink and white, so I ended up settling on…
  • I actually just had an idea concerning the locking in of career abilities. What they could do is implement a Retirement system. Once you get to the top level of a career, you could have the option to "retire". At this point, all career-exclusive abilities and interactions would lock in permanently. After retirement, you…
  • @invisiblgirl - The Pride clothes are 2 shirts in the women's and one or two in kids, not sure about men's but probably the same. They're 1 Tee-Shirt and 1 Tank Top in women's. The default pattern is a small rainbow flag on a black background for the tee, full rainbow striping for the tank. The tee has 8 total patterns,…
  • Update to previous post. I found the problem with the New highlight. You have to click every version of the armadillo and alien head toys to get them to clear. Even though they're shown in a single-item swatch, they're treated as separate objects. Probably due to the way they're sold in the roadside shop.
  • Nope. Not taken out of context. You shouldn't take me too seriously either. "No such thing as too much" of anything is patently not true. I was being facetious.
  • I'm having a similar problem with Strangerville. Item's themselves aren't marked as new, but the category icons in Kids Decorations, Kids Toys and Miscellaneous Decorations are all still "new items" yellow highlighted. I even tried using "bb.showhiddenitems" to see if it was something I couldn't see causing it. Nothing.
  • It's not very immersive to have Sims suddenly "forget" how to use the scientific equipment they used throughout their entire career and find themselves so completely incompetent they can no longer use them at all. It's bad enough to lose progress in a career itself if you change jobs. Sims games didn't used to do that.…
  • Thanks to some of my mods, I already have a much more expansive interaction wheel than is typical. I can't say I particularly mind. I like having options and at least everything is broken down into categories.
  • No such thing as playing Sims too long. I've been at it for about 15 years and first played Sim City on Sega Genesis long before that. I've been a part of the Simiverse for a very long time and have no intention of letting up in the foreseeable future.
  • Oh! For those still having mod issues, if you set your mod list to show up at the title screen, you can scroll to the bottom, where script mods are listed separately. If you go through that list of scripts and check the creator's pages for updates of anything on that list, you should be able to sort most of it out.
  • With modders already rushing out updates, hopefully most of these issues have been resolved for most of the players. There will likely be some few people still with the occasional bug and/or error problem and I sincerely hope everyone can get those straggling problems resolved and everyone can get back to their Simmersive…
  • Which issue? The doors or the fires?
  • It turns out I joined 18 months ago, but I took a lengthy break from Simming to obsess on Skyrim and Fallout 4, so I must have earned the badge in absentia. Still, I feel pretty good about it, so I don't mind so much being late to my own party. :P
  • I can't remember the last time I had a fire. I focus on fire safety very early. Range hoods and smoke detectors in the kitchen. Quickly build up Handiness and Cooking Skills. Then, the big one, getting the Naturalist Trait from the Freelance Botanist Aspiration (makes them fireproof).
  • @Joey_sImS - Most people, including myself, fixed this problem by removing (or now updating) the [Removed]. The maker acknowledged the problem on his site and put out an updated version to correct it. If you don't have that mod, I don't know what could be causing it. Also, have you tried doing a game repair through your…
  • That's odd. Most people are saying Basemental was the cause (including on the [Removed] website) and removing it fixed it for everyone I've heard from. That said, Basemental has been updated and works fine now. Also [Removed~Rtas], Deaderpool's MC Control Console, Triplis Sorcerer mod, LittleMsSam's Go To School mod and…
  • I've had very few problems here. Nearly everyone has been amazing. The worst I've gotten is a couple of necropost nitpickers several months back. They only cared about their concept of protocol rather than whether the topic was still relevant, or that I was fairly new and couldn't make new threads at the time. The admins…
  • Are you playing on PC? If so, have you tried the code "bb.enablefreebuild"? It's the only thing I can think might work for that. If not, I'd suggest making a new post under Feedback and/or Tech Support and see if you get a bite. I wish you luck.
  • Thanks everyone, and @AriaMad2 - "Birthiversary"... I like that. I'll have to try to remember it. It made me laugh. - Just to clarify, if anyone's confused, when I say "birthday-ish" I mean my anniversary on the site (the badge has a cake w/candle) and it felt a bit special, like a scaled-down birthday. My actual RL…
  • @RobotBees - You called it. I moved [Removed] to a latent folder elsewhere on my hard drive and now the script call fail for doors and PCs is gone. Until it gets updated, I suppose I can do without it. I mainly just have it for certain minor features with [Removed~Rtas] anyway. I've never really cared for it, conceptually.
  • @JennaDeee123 - Glad I could help. I only figured it out because I had an arch or two up already and those hadn't gotten sold off with the doors. Sometimes problems can be dealt with with finesse. I'm glad I didn't just plow in gung-ho and kill off my mods when it was such a small problem with an easy workaround.
  • @Simmingal - Thanks for mentioning the gates. I realized I have a fully enclosed lot. I'll need to knock a hole in my fence so my Sims can go to work.
  • I stand corrected. One other thing was affected... PCs. Thankfully, the tablets still work, so between those, and Skill Books, I might be okay for a while. Sometimes it's a curse being a positive thinker. The update said it was a content patch. I'm guessing some changes were made to the functioning of doors and PCs for the…
  • I tried repairing the game before I posted initially. No dice. However, I figured out that only scripted doors were affected. As an improvised temporary solution, I've replaced all doors with arches. The only mod I can think of that might have affected doors at all is [Removed], but nothing else it affects (sofas, beds,…
  • Okay. It worked. Thanks. Somehow, I always miss things that seem, in hindsight, like they should have been obvious. XD
  • That's weird about the clay head thing. You didn't accidentally "Set as Head" did you? Anyway, thanks for the cheat. I'll give it a try when the opportunity arises. For those who aren't getting the "Investigate Object" option, you aren't Shift-Clicking, are you? It's added to the basic object menu. Just buy a Lump of Clay…
  • There IS a Fairy Life State mod as well as Genie and Mermaid. I downloaded all of them. However, I had to remove them as something was killing some of my major cheats (modifyrelationship and locking Vampire Weaknesses for example.) I still haven't figured out where the problem is so I haven't put any of them back in yet.…
  • Unlocking the ears is great for making elves as well. Also, if you get the Triplis Sorcerer mod, you can make elves that can do magic. It's lots of fun and highly useful. Especially the spells for resurrecting ghosts. Those unexpected deaths aren't so devastating anymore.
  • Just spotted another book joke. The toddler book "When is Winter" is definitely a spoof on the Snow family motto from the Game of Thrones series. (Winter is Coming). In the book's description, it says "When is winter? Who knows, but it's coming."
  • I find two of the winning shots particularly compelling. The Sylvan Glade rainbow is interesting. Is it always there? I've never noticed it before. The shot of the ruins looks like something out of some epic movie like Braveheart or Highlander.
