  • A sphere of flan. That actually sounds...possibly accurate. I've gone looking for a Sims 3 wiki, and just haven't found it, so I think I'll accept "flan globe" as the answer.
  • But...what is it? Some sort of cake or muffin or something? It's clearly pastry, but...what? Does it have some sort of creamy filling? Or maybe fruit? Or is it just dough all the way through? What IS it? *boggle*
  • Doesn't really answer my question, tho. I mean, that's a picture, sure...but I've seen it before. What I don't know is what it IS. It's a ball of...something? I'm sure you're not eating "destiny"...so...what is it?
  • The biggest problem with ItF is that the town it comes with is basically vacation-ville; you don't get to actually live in the future. ...you can live there--get enough dough to buy a house and you can totally move in there--but even if you do, there are only two career possibilities (astronomer or robot gladiator…
  • Hmm...I wonder if it'll let me extract 3D models; I'm an animator when I'm not Simming, and I'm currently working on building a city of my own design, but the buildings--the rabbit hole buildings like city hall--from Oasis Landing are very close to the visual style I'm going for. I would love to import them into 3DS MAX to…
  • Yes. There are a lot of things that I can access in CAW that never show up in EIG, not even with buydebug. I keep thinking that there must be something unique about those objects, something that tells The Sims to not allow them in EIG, or something that doesn't tell The Sims that they are allowed...something I can change.…
  • See, the thing is...those objects exist somewhere; you'd think there'd be a way--some flag you can trip or a folder you can copy/move them to--that would make them available in EIG. You'd think. Ah, well. Not really, tho. Cuz the parking spaces are just cars and that road-bump thingy that sits on each space. There is no…
  • Oh, is that what that is...not sure how I've missing that this whole time. My only guess is that I'm so used to making 3D stuff in 3DS MAX that I was making assumptions about what snap controls should look like. So thanks for that; it'll definitely come in useful.
  • Hey, some of us just got here.
  • I usually create the character I wish I was... ...which is why the very first thing I bought for The Sims 3 was "Into the Future".
  • Actually, I find making lots in CAW or EIG quite frustrating for different reasons. If there is a grid-snap in CAW, I'm not finding it, so my lots often end up not quite being at right angles, or up against the road. But EIG only gives you certain lot sizes/aspect ratios, and rarely are any of them the size you actually…
  • Yes, I tried it; those world objects could not be touched at all in EIG mode. EDIT: I figured it out; apparently the order in which you do something, and in which application makes a huge difference. I could not get these world objects to be selectable if I'd made the lot in EIG; the only way to make them accessible in EIG…
  • Annoyingly, I think those cars won't be picked up and moved. Quite annoying that you have to do the world objects first; makes placing them far more difficult than it should be. Unless I'm doing debug mode incorrectly--and I don't think I am--then the only car I see in Edit in Game is one from Late Night.
  • I've seen that basement trick, but I'm not sure why it's necessary; placing the rabbit hole on the ground level seems like it should work just fine. I haven't tried it with an actual Sim yet...but what I have so far looks really good. This is a retro-future diner I'm working on right now (so it's not finished): If you…
  • I'm working on one, myself, but I've only just gotten The Sims 3, and the learning curve is kind of high. It also doesn't help that I'm trying to do something futuristic using mostly "Into the Future" and "Lunar Lakes" gear, and The Sims never really was a sci-fi game. Not really. But I'm playing around with it,…
  • Well, this is what I have so far: It's meant to be an outdoor venue in the future, using a lot of Into the Future and Lunar Lakes gear. I've kind of faked up some rigging, but I'm having a devil of a time putting lights on it; they won't go to the right height, always either too high or too low. And I don't have any…
  • Ka-THUNK. Nobody can help me with this? Is there a detailed list of what each pack comes with somewhere?
  • These things are always a problem. Which version of the base game do you have? Is it from disc or digital download? Because there seems to be a lot of conflict between the base game and expansions if they're not all from the same source. The best thing you can do, really, is to download and install the base game from…
  • Ah, thank you! Nobody was answering my questions about what Showtime came with in the actual Showtime section of this forum, so I'm glad you did it here. You can see what I've attempted: I actually gave up trying to make it an indoor stage, and made it more of a sci-fi style outdoor venue. And you can see the Lunar Lakes…

How does this all play out anyway? Maybe they're trying to implement some kind of technical solution? I've noticed that some words--a…

  • > @amydiamond said: > It's super annoying that we can't place links! I just started a legacy and wanted to share the link to my blog. :( I guess I'll find some things to post on so that I can share the link. Yeah, see, this is the big problem I see with this system: unless you do something very deliberate to get points,…
  • > @EasyToRead said: > Keight wrote: » > The system is fine. They even lowered the amount of points and post required but wow nice bump... I don't see how it's fine; I've been here more than a week, and I want to get feedback and help on my Create a World project, but I can't at this time show people examples of my work, to…
  • > @EasyToRead said: > You need 50 points. You get points from likes and agrees and you have to be a member for 24 hours. So it relies on other people saying how awesome you are? That's an extraordinarily daft system.
  • > @Zach_Bundy said: > If the object belongs on a wall, then you are forced into using the grid. So basically, if the object belongs on a wall, but it is not the same size as the wall and sticks out, you're basically screwn? Whose brilliant idea was THAT? You'd think someone at Maxis who was making maps before the game was…
  • > @Zach_Bundy said: > If you're not using showtime, then what you could do is raise some terrain, flatten it for whatever size that you need, and then place a platform on top of it. (You should leave room on one side for stairs) Well, I don't have Showtime--been considering getting it, but so far nobody has answered my…

I was pretty sure that was the version I have, but your Origin icon isn't the same as mine. Still...did you do these exact steps in the exact order, leaving…
  • > @sirguylittle said: > Keight, I can't help with non-transparent windows, but I was thinking if you are building your own rabbit holes, what about using Rabbit Hole Rugs or Doors instead of building around an existing rabbit hole? It would give you more freedom in the shape and size of your rabbit holes. Well, mostly…
  • Ugh...one step forward, two steps back. I decided to make it an outdoor venue instead so that I'm not trying to place a foundation next to a wall, which CAW does not like. NOW I'm trying to construct the rigging that holds speakers and lights...but apparently trying to place these things on the second floor (where the…
