That's sad on both accounts. I was hoping NPCs would join the festivities (dress up and such). I loved to trick-or-treat as a kid and to participate vicariously would've been fun. Maybe there's a mod or two that would allow for both.
I could have misread/heard things. I thought someone said that if you had get to work installed along with get together, simmers could manage and create bistros.

I was thinking about movies, (most notably Wizard of OZ themed movies) and using Sims to recreate certain scenes. This is the very definition of irony. I uninstalled MC because of the fact that it was giving me so many technical issues. I will try to reinstall it. Maybe with the latest updates it will start working correctly without any issues. Wish me luck. Meanwhile, is there another mod that I should know about in the meantime?
