@Simmingal ... I have never played Sims 4 and have no intention to,
but Sims 3 allows more creativity in my narrow opinion.
The open world in Sims 3 is awesome ...
And you can make some seriously funny and entertaining stories ...
While, if you are like me, you will almost constantly find something new or a new adventure in the game.
Like for instance ... Building a house on your own little island doesn't mean it has to be a shack ...
Make the folks that deliver the mail or the paper use a boat or a jet ski.
Premium Content. Any items that add plants or recipes. Even if you won't use the appliance, the recipes get added to the game in general and if you use the Eat outside Mod, you can add the recipe to any diner or cafe. The tractor adds orange trees. The Japanese grill adds multiple recipes.
I really like the ballet barre and the tablet that plays podcasts. I can build two skills at once, using them at the same time.
I just find that ts4 suits my playstyle best now that I've made it my home and all my important sims and stories and builds etc are there for me ready to go
so its the one i return to after having some silly fun with ts1,2,3 and spinoffs
ts3 always had me mental with my obsessive perfectionism forcing me to do something unexciting like picking toilet cover swatches for 10 hours instead of playing my sims which was kind of gloomy
so knowing myself
I try to just stick to playing when i go back to it
I might want to buy Lucky Palms, but not at full price. I am waiting to see if a sale pops up. Not all the casino stuff, but just the desert world. In real life, this summer has been so dark and rainy that I want to play in the sun. https://store.thesims3.com/luckypalms.html
I agree that of all the options listed you might find Midnight Hollow the most fun. It’s very distinctive. I’ve only bought Store worlds recently and now have them all except Lunar Lakes (which doesn’t interest me at all). I didn’t think I’d like Midnight Hollow but read various old threads on the forum and thought that actually I might like it - and I do. It’s very dark (lighting-wise) but I recently played a week in winter and with the snow everywhere it was much lighter and eerily beautiful. It’s got a lot of atmosphere. Some say that Forgotten Hollow is a poor substitute for it. It’s got a very gothic/Victorian/Steampunk feel. But there’s a lot about it I don’t know yet as I’ve only just started exploring.

Yeah the thing is that meanwhile I love dark things (and Forgotten Hollow + Magic Town is a home)
I'm also worried that with this whole creepy world it'll be all too dark and then I get frustrated
often find the lighting in ts3 to either be too bright or too dark to see properly
and worlds being massive doesn't exactly help
another thing I worry is that if I get Midnight Hollow I want the other occult/goth stuff in store too to go with it
and I don't have that many points left really if i do get the world
also I do have Moonlight Falls and such so part of me is like is there that much difference between these worlds though hmm

Fair enough, good points.
From what I’ve read different players experience the lighting in Midnight Hollow differently - for some it’s fine, while for others it’s unplayable. And I agree that the lighting in TS3 generally is bad.
If you want to get maximum value out of your points, get Sunlit Tides when it’s next on the DD sale (as someone above mentioned). You only need to get the Standard version: if you want Serenity Retreat as well it’s cheaper to wait for it to be on the DD sale than to buy the Gold version of Sunlit Tides. I did this earlier this year. It’s a lovely world without all the issues that Isla Paradiso has. Then you should still have quite a few points left to get other things, especially if you get things that are in the DD sale. (But you probably know this already: and I’m assuming you know all about the DD sales and the fact that you can track when things are on sale using other threads on this forum )
Midnight Hollow looks like a dimly lit world, but what it actually is is a brightly lit, darkly coloured world! The terrain, architecture, flowers and trees are all painted in very dark colours.. It's only when you add something brightly coloured to it that you see that the light is actually quite strong. This is how the Seasons festival stands, the circus venue, the greenhouse venue and a sim in a white shirt look when placed in the world:
I think it's an excellent world for taking screenshots and videos with dramatic contrasts, where you want just one detail to stand out. It may be better suited for that than for just playing.
I said premium content because I have fun with all the kitchen items and there's a bunch of useful items for babies as well. I do like some of the items with Midnight Hollow (furniture, build mode stuff), but I find the world cramped and dark (use a lighting mod - it will help!). If you just want spooky furniture sets, Gothique and Regal Living recolor well.
I said venue just because I do like the skill objects that come with either the prism art gallery or the skylight studio, but my second choice would've been the world Midnight Hollow! If you like creepy, mysterious world, it's really cool with new townies who have really cool lore and outfits. It's one of the store worlds I've played in the most!

oopsie forgot, the worlds would be standard not gold edition
- cause its not enough points for gold versions

I picked Hidden Springs because it is the town I play the most.
Sunlit Tides would be my second choice.
The townies are okay, there's plenty of useable space, and if you like to remodel
houses and public spaces the town is user friendly.
.
Thanks for vote
Mostly just looking for some fun things to explore in TS3
I play TS4 on regular
but I like sometimes going back to the older games for a bit of fun

Thanks for the info!
I shall definitely look for the sale if I end up choosing that world always good to get more for sim point
@Katofhyrule12
interesting
I had not thought much of recipes
(my sims tend to end up vampire or eating salad until death greets them) but I'll keep that in mind
also pump up the ja... thread I mean
I would love to hear what everyone would use these simpoints on
and I have feeling there is some people out there with more splendid ideas to consider
(also no worry i have like nothing from store except dragon valley so you will definitely not be suggesting something i already have )

If you have Dragon Valley, do you want to expand on that theme?
