Wondering How to Get Your Sim Abducted?

«1
I haven't had an alien abduction in my game for quite some time. In this save, several of my Sims like to use the telescope. Sometimes to 'spy on the neighborhood', but mostly to study the stars. This time my Sim had the option to Search for the Truth. Yes, it's late evening, in fact it's passed 2 AM. Suddenly, I heard a noise. and I see that familiar beam of light. She's going to have something interesting to tell her fiancé when he returns from the concert he's giving. "How did you spend your evening, Sweetheart?" "Oh, just getting up close and personal with an alien or two, or three. A whole slew of them! I thought they would never let me go. I think I'll just go lay down for awhile."

So, I would suggest if you're really hoping to have your Sim get abducted you have them Search for the Truth in the dead of night, or those wee hours. Might not happen every time, but it wouldn't hurt to try. I do know that most abductions happen late at night. And for the record, nobody in my full house is a Scientist.

If you have any more suggestions, please add them.

    From Carl's Guide:

Method 1: Join the Scientist Career

Method 2: Cheating for the Scientist Objects

    Method 3: Learn Some Logic!

There is an interaction on the Telescope (Observatory) unlocked at Level 7 Logic, Search for The Truth. What this does is, raises that meter gradually for every minute you use it. Doing this for a few hours each day will give you the same result as using the computer/satellite. This interaction appears around 8-8:30 PM until dawn but won't be available if you use the contact aliens ability, as your meter is already maxed out. If you want to try for abduction that day, get on it early in the evening.

Thanks for the tip. My Sims don't get abducted unless they are in the Scientist career and have the satellite dish. I will try the "search for the truth" on the the telescope next time. I never add that object to a lot because it's so huge. I wish we had a little telescope like the one in Sims 2.

Aliens and friends of aliens seem to get abducted the most in my game. I've even had one time when I created an alien household, placed them in a house, and one of them got abducted as soon as I unpaused the game. I hadn't even had any of them do anything yet. None of them were scientists.

In another game, I play rotationally with an alien in one of the households. Everyone who is friends with the alien has been abducted multiple times regardless of career.

My alien scientist (another save) has been abducted so many times I've lost count. My human scientists don't seem to get abducted nearly as frequently as he does.

One note: I play with aging turned off, so what seems frequent to me might not be frequent enough if you are playing with a short lifespan.

@Simgirl1010 has the right of it. The scientist satellite dish->contact aliens guarantees an abduction, but for non-scientists the telescope trick works pretty darn well too if you do it long enough.

@Elliandre, There are a half dozen CC telescopes that are normal size and functional if you don't want to put the big observatory on your home lot. One of them is actually the Sims 2 telescope, brought over to TS4.
This post will be edited by StormKeep at some point.

    logic part is interesting
I often have sims skilled in logic from playing lots of chess but they don't really end up doing sciencey stuff all that often

does this mean that since ive maxed vlads logic i should get him abducted *adjusts monocle*

The only sim I've had abducted in my game was a sim lady doing the Strangerville challenge, but she got abducted when she moved to Britchester for college. She was never on the telescope, never in the science career and not that high on logic. It was very random.

No, I was just suggesting I stumbled across a particular interaction that I believe contributed to her getting abducted. Some people have groused over never having an abduction in their game and most of the hints are geared toward having a Sim in the Science profession, which while a good hint, doesn't preclude other situations. I also discovered way back in 2014, that having a Sim out late in the evening makes them subject to a possible abduction. Not necessarily every time, but it ups the chances. So, I thought I would share.

I had no idea this Sim was that high in her logic. She just was heading out to use the observatory. I canceled it but then I decided to let her have her fun. That's when I saw the Search for the Truth interaction. I was originally going to have have her spy on the neighborhood. But the other interaction was one I wasn't really all that familiar with so I thought, okay, I'm game. Let's see what this is about. She got taken. Yeah, it was that fast. LOL

I had one of my female Sims get abducted randomly as well.
She and her sister lived in the haunted house that came with the Paranormal pack. She was out at night, and next thing I know, she was abducted.
The only thing I could think of the reason in hindsight, was that I had both her and her sister go out to a club. I think she became friends with an alien there.

Well, it was night, she was taking out the trash. They took from right outside her front door. She had bad feelings about it for a couple of days afterwards.

Abductions have been easy to trigger for me. The safest bet is to have your sim befriend an alien. I feel like this is a 100% success.

Honestly, I've never seen a "natural" abduction in the game. I gave up on it after a while and just use MCCC to trigger an abduction if I want one. I get that when Get to Work first came out, the abductions were out of control, but I feel they tuned it down too much since.

This just makes me sad that we have to actively go looking for Aliens now, because they've been turbo-nerfed into the ground. Before it was a random chance, but then ofc people complained too much and it was nerfed.
Give our Vampires back their fangs!!! Reverse the Nerf!!! Occult simmers should not be shoved aside for the "realism players"! It's time Occult lovers/players started to demand equal treatment. #JusticeForOccults

If you have Get Together you can simply go to the bar when there's an alien night. I did this with my sim and befriended three aliens that night. The following night back at his home the mysterious lights happened, but the abduction glitched and didn't happen. So I befriended one more sim I knew was an alien and then next time the lights appeared the abduction went smoothly. The result was alien triplets :D

My Sim was just in the Observatory to Search for the Truth.

I bought the observatory because of this thread but I can't get the "Search for the Truth" option even with my sim with maxed out logic. Will keep trying - maybe I had used the satellite as well?
I don't remember how to change my signature.
