… and I just now figured out how to keep a sick Child home from school. You write the excuse note, first. Not after they've stayed home. D'oh!

Oh that's good to know. So is that all you do write the note and it's okay? I've been playing from the beginning too. There's stuff I run across very often still. Or stuff they change that you run across later.

I have been playing for almost two years now, and I had no idea this existed. There is still so much of this game I don't know yet.

I completely forgot writing an excuse note was a thing. I, too, have been playing since 2014 and never once thought to do that.

I have been playing from about 2 months after it’s release, and I didn’t even know you could write a sick excuse..... how do you do it?

If I remember correctly, your sim has to have a certain level of the writing skill. I can't really remember what level. It's under the Write category on the computer.

I've seen the option in the Writing menu but never knew what it was for. I usually just had kids drop a day or two of school and then study hard when they go back to make up for it

I didn't know about this either. I don't use the phone options enough, I guess I should go through all of them and see if there's also other things that I've missed.

Mine just always lost some of their grade and had to make it up when they skipped. The only time that didn't happen was recently with my teen. She was sick, so I had her stay home and sleep. It didn't complain at me that she was late and her grade wasn't affected. I thought maybe if they were sick it just didn't matter.

I never knew this was a thing.

I'm not sure, but it may be a feature of Parenthood.

Excuse notes are from base game. It requires level 3 writing skill. Alternatively, a sim kid can take a 'vacation day' off from school like the adults can.

So the excuse note won't subtract vacation days... that's nice.

I was today years old when I learned that the excuse notes actually have a purpose. :D

It's never to late for learning :) I've been on since the release as well, and did not know this. That is - I would probably not even think of keeping a child back home from school in the first place... no matter how sick they are, lol

Wow! I did not know this at all. Too bad it requires a level 3 writing skill though. I usually just buy the medicine and send the kiddos on to school. But I am going to work on my Sims writing skills so I can give this a try.
