I'm still playing, but sometimes I'm more busy with building than playing the game.
1922
Viktoria and Ludwig were going to visit Karl and his family. They said goodbuy to Hedwig who wished them a pleasent journey.
Viktoria and Ludwig waited for Karl, who wanted to pick up them from the trainstation.
But then a tragic accident happened, A train derailed and the three family members were immediately killed.
Helene had to tell the kids that they had lost their father.
It was hard to Wilhelm to stood at the graves, he didn't want to leave but a thunderstorm forced him.
The siblings and their husbands met each other for a funerary banquet. Some of them didn't have seen each other for years, like Mathilde and Hedwig.
The three daughter get to know their aunt Mathilde.
The sibling try to comfort Helene and offer their support to her.
Since Hedwig is still a juvenile, Wilhelm took over the responsibility to her, so she moved to them.
The siblings agreed that the youngest son Otto should inherit the parents home, since everyone else had already build a house for their families. Otto and his pregnant wife were thankful that there weren't no inheritance disputes.
Aye, sigh, 1923 was an Annus horribilis, like the Queen would say. I think the wikipedia entry described the situation in this year very well:
Hyperinflation affected the German Papiermark, the currency of the Weimar Republic, between 1921 and 1923, primarily in 1923. It caused considerable internal political instability in the country, the occupation of the Ruhr by France and Belgium as well as misery for the general populace. A loaf of bread in Berlin that cost around 160 Marks at the end of 1922 cost 200,000,000,000 Marks by late 1923. By November 1923, the US dollar was worth 4,210,500,000,000 German marks.
An old teacher said once to mee, that everyone was in hurry back in those times. Men had to run to home to bring their daily salary to their wifes. The wifes ran with this to the bakery to get some bread before the Mark lose more value again. Any wealth people had have somehow melted in the hyperinflation. Also a certain politicican, which name can't be written here, I had to learn, and his brown party stepped in the public with the beer hall putsch. (I would changed it in the other thread too, to get rid of the censor, but then I would destroy the notifications).
But first things first.
The loss of Ludwig, Viktoria and Karl hit the family hard, especially the granddaughters and Hedwig.
With the months the pain has eased a little and Elfriede and Johanna were able to train some intruments again. Their familybond grew.
But Hedwig still burst out in tears from time to time. But Her best friend supported her.
Hedwig began to hate the school and these strict rules.
So her best friend decided that it's time to have some fun again.
On saturday evening they made themselves a little bit older and went in a nightclub and have danced to the latest music.
Toghether they saw a performance from an american entertainer.
And Hedwig got to know one older man, an artist too, which she found adoring and wanted to show her best side to him to impress him. /Erm, yes, that was the sentiment. Maybe she though, this is my ticket to get out of here, I don't know).
Wilhelm was worried, when Hedwig came back late at night and he had waited for her.
But Hedwig feels alive for the first time.
And for thanksgiving a delicious apple cake was baked.
Not to see on the picture. The youngest child got a sentiment, which he feel hurt to his mother. I have no idea what was happened, but now he is either angry or sad when Luisa is near to him.
Hedwig has finished the school and started her dual education to become a secretary.
She convinced Wilhelm to let her move in her first own apartment in the city of Berlin. Wilhelm wasn't very happy when he saw this old house and the apartment need some renovation too. But Hedwig begged to him and he couldn't say no to her.
At this moment with 17 years Hedwig stood finally on her own feet.
Time for Party and dancing all night long (probably only until 10 pm, because of juvenile protection restriction).
One evening she met Günther Munch again. He began to swarm around her and invited her for date. He is a very well-known and famous Artist in the Highsociety of Berlin. They went out on many dates, so Hedwig became his Muse and he does deeply adore her.
But there was a problem, two to be precise. Günther was already married, and his affair with Hedwig filled the tabloid press. He left his unbeloved wife, and in due of his guilt of aldutery to the divorce he had to sprent a couple of month in prison and furthermore he wasn't allowed to marry Hedwig ever.
They had a private and inofficial ceremony, in which they changed their vows. According to the law then originally a man over 18 years were allowed to marry a woman over 14 years old, but official way was closed.
But then it happened, just before her 18th birthday she got pregnant. Wilhelm had a long conversation with Hedwig about this, Günther was twice older than Hedwig but Hedwig was blind for love.
But then it happened, just shortly before her 18th birthday she got pregnant.
Time to meet the family. They questioned him a lot of private question. The inquistion was nicer.
But Gottfried, in the enternainer career, already knew him and he convinced his siblings to trust him and that he, Günther, will definately take care of Hedwig and the baby. Which was born at the end of the year 1924 and was name after the late brother, Karl.
I don't have much too say about the year 1925. There weren't much which could be worth to tell about, it was a relatively seen normal year for this specifc decade. So here some pictures from Wilhelm and his family.
Wilhelm and his girls
The daughters helped each other with the schoolprojects.
Wilhelm told his son a good night story.
Hedwig came over for a visit.
I didn't know that children could play with the globe.
Wilhelm relaxed in the pool.
Happy Birthday to you, dear Hans.
After the cas makeover. Well, he got all genes from his mother. Personally I'm not so happy about this.
Mathilde came to visit. She still has her mischief smile, her teenage daughter is really beautiful.
Happy Birthday, dear Anna.
Well, she got also most of the genes from her mother, but I made minor changes (mouth, hair and nose). So now, she's looking handsome.
1926 instead was a quite interesting year, in a politcal, technological and cultural sense. Germany was accepted in the league of nation, more inventions, and because of we have a new addon, Japan and Germany began to tighten their relationship with cultural exchanges. The german relationship with japan was in his over 150 years (seen from today) most of the time very friendly, even after the ww1, around 30k people from the qingdao-colony rather stayed in Japan than return to Germany.
Back to Hedwig, she celebrating the life and enjoy the people around her, and began a singing career (which not existed yet, but however I don't care).
Günther, she and their friends were invited to visit japan.
They have visited the temple.
Hedwig and Günther enjoyed their free time.
Learning how to use the Onsen rightwas hard and they made the citizen angry
Hedwig performed her song.
The group played a cardgame.
Hedwig and Maria met a local celebrity and they became friends.
Back to Germany, Hedwig brought back two sovenirs (a kimono and she is pegnant again.)
But this little accident didn't changed her lifestyle.
Finally I have my mood for Sims again. I didn't had the desire to play it for a while. The gameplay became some repetitive and I have never played a family for more then 3 generations before, usually I've stopped when the grandchild was born. Also, I have to take care about the rest of sims in my gameplay, which takes now more time then in the earlier times. Now I'm testing the kawaiistacys slice of life mod, from the first look I find it amusing.
Ingame I have reach the first day of 1929, so here is a summary of the years 1926 until 1928.
Elfriede became a teenager and have a lot of mood swings
Anna became more and more independent from her family. She like to dance a lot and likes to hear music, a truly child of the roaring twenties.
But later she found out, that her bff became mean and was insulted by her.
And she forgot the time often and came home late, Luisa was quite angry about her.
Wintertime
Christmas Eve
The two oldest daughers were obliged to decorate the Christmas tree.
The family gathered around the candles and listened to the Christmas story.
Time for lighenting the tree and the dinner.
Later in the evening, Anna and Elfriede enjoyed their christmas gifts - music records, while Johanna and Hans joy to be with Luisa and Wilhelm before they were sent to bed.

They hope to find a better paid job there. They found a cheap room in one of the tenement barracks. Ludwig started his 3 years military service and Viktoria became pregrant soon. > > > > > Living in a cramped building, they have to deal with loud neighbors and dirty environment all the time. > > > > In late 1890 their first son named Wilhelm (after the emporer) was born. > > > > > Ludwig is very ambitious and and impressed his superiors, so he ranked up, while he is proud of his family growing extended. > > > > While he is family orientated, he is also unflirty in due of the prudish era, but he did his marital duties and Viktoria became pregnant again. It's now 1891. He began to be interested in the social democratic party and workers right, since the anti-socialist laws were lifted.
Okay, this time it's bit hard too me to write this story and the story has sad parts in it. Something unexpected and autonomously happened in my game and I was very much perplexed that I didn't cancelled the task, because I was not sure in which direction I should take this story at this point. I'm going to put an extra spoiler tag to prevent that someone could be triggered by the story around it.
1929-1930
But at first a new family picture, made before the official portrait.
The stock market crash arrived in my game and the Great Depression hit Germany very hard and had the already know consequences.
A short stop in the USA: Elisabeth, the oldest daughter of the late Ludwig emigrated with her family 1928 to the USA to live near the little brother of Walter, in due of the raising antisemitism. The crash hit the family hard, not just in the finances. Many clients of her husband Walter Goldschmidt went bancrupt and killed themselved. Walter's heart couldn't handle these bad news anymore.
Meanwhile in Germany, even the workaholic Wilhelm was fired from the hospital to save money for the clinic and it stressed him a lot, because he was the sole wage earner of the family, their future was suddenly uncertain.
To relax a little bit he read now all these book, which he had never had the time before.
Anna 16 almost 17 years old still enjoy the nightlife so far and attracted many men. She got caught by Wilhelm when leaving her favourite club too late with an older man in her arms.
Wilhelm was furious, when he saw her and grounded her, which made Anna lamenting about her life.
After he has heard that she already had her first kiss, Wilhelm had the TALK with her and warned her about the bad behaviour of some men. The talk went bad as the one he had with his father.
Trigger warning. I'm using words in context of the forum rules, but however it could give still flashbacks to victims.
Okay this part happened autonomously, even when I had disable the autonomy. Ana met a policeman, she just said hello and ask about his day. I saw, that he was already married, and I thought, okay then he isn't the right man for her, when they suddenly walked to the next bush. They had no romance bar and not even a bit of a friendship. I guess one of the mod made the decision.
Anna ignored Wilhelm's warning, viewed them as overprotectly. She went out one evening when the worst happened.
Afterwards she couldn't tell her parents what happened to her and she said nothing and try to deal with the pain and shame alone.
But she got pregant and now she had to talk with her parents.
Wilhelm was very angry and blame her for disobedience. But as a loving father he calmed down very quickly. They went immediately to the hospital, but it was already to late for an abortion. The other doctors denied to do the operation.
For worst, the complaint and subsequent court hearing did not effect anything. Words stood against words. The corrupt policeofficer was protected.
Wilhelm and Luisa were talking about their future in Germany, the news were already bad and with no more jobs available they had to find some work anywhere. They want to emigrate too.
I am adoring this story. Wow. It also must take so much intentional worldbuilding to keep it in the appropriate decade. Loving the pics and the narrative.
Catch the latest episode of The Challenge by MTVSims here.
@happysmile9 Thank you . I love to build in Sims and it's quite challenging to build these houses with the things we have. Compare to the buildings of the past in the future they will be a lot easier, because the architecture became more boring in their looking imho, with all these straight elements and big windows. I miss these little details at the modern houses. I remember one old house in rl that had little birds and leaves of plaster around the main entrance. They brought me to smile.
Back to my story, I apologize in advance for the upcoming picture spam, I couldn't resist.
1930 - 1931
Time to moving houses. The family decided to sell almost all their belongings and just keep the memorials, their saving were already melting. Luckely Wilhelm have found in du of his connection a new position as medical specialist in a different country. Although he now earned less, but it was still better than the unemployment.
When the weekend arrived, they were read to move.
One last knitting.
And then it's time to say Goodbye Germany.
The travel and land buying costs and the retroactive Reichs Flight tax melted their wealth completely down. When they arrived at their new home they saw only a tropical forest.
But the architect and the construction worker arrived soon and helped them to build temporary shelters.
Here is the building process over the "months" until now, because it's still in progress. The house itself is inspired from the Beit Liebling house in Tel Aviv, it was the Baushaus era.
This weather isn't helpful for them.
Blossoming Johanna was very skeptical when she met the apprentice Alfred, 17 years old. He had immediately a crush on her.
She was kidding me, I had to stop them. Girl, we take the standard route, understood?
That's right.
Anna, oh my dear Anna, for a single and lovin' it you are very hungry for love.
Baby girl Christel was born but Anna was overwhelmed with the new responsibility, so mama Luisa had to step in.
Baby Christel liked the young architect Heinrich Köhler.
Heinrich aswell fell deeply in love with Anna. He was indirectly told what was happened and earnt slowly her trust.
(haha, I'm kidding, it was very fast, I had to stopped them too.)
They spent their free time together, avoiding to be seen by the family.
Unaware I left both alone to check after the other family members, when suddenly the proposal message popped up. Obviously Anna said yes.
And we had christmas eve, with no money in the wallet the presents were very humble.
We had a fire, the fire had no chance. In the end there were 6 family members with a fire extinguisher.
Hans had his birthday.
And after a small nose and chin surgery I've decided that he is going to be my next heir, because he came after Wilhelms line he looks very much like his father and not like his mother.
Christel is very curious and eagerly to learn.
The crush Johanna had have, died immediately after Alfred said mean words to her.
17 years old Elfriede on the other hand started her own romance with the other construction worker Werner out of sight of the others and both keep this as their secret.
Anna is now 18 years old and it's time to tell her parent that she wanted to marry Heinrich. Wilhelm agreed, he was satisfied with the work of Heinrich so he felt had Anna is in good hands with him.
Christel is very happy.
Who can't resist this cute little girl, who is happy about her toy?
They moved near her parents. Heinrich wants a simplier life without much electronics and Anna finally got warm with her daughter.
No worry, they have a nice home now and Anna is pregnant again (with twins).
At best I start with a lightweight picture. Hans has found a new friend.
The news spread to the family that a known politician came to power with the promise to "restore law and order", other politicians believed he could be controlled.
After the Reichstags fire he set out to make it happen, with the Enabling Act of 1933 all political opponents were arrested, transformed the country into a dictatorship. One old friend of Wilhelm was arrested too, in due of inaprobiate behaviour, just because he was gay.
That's the prison I made for the picture above, and it's really only a prison, nothing else.
Back to the family.
Elfriede has celebrate her birthday and became a young adult.
She couldn't wait for longer and married Werner as soon she had received the permission from Wilhelm.
Werner prefered a simple life with no technology, she loves him anyhow.
I really pity that Mathilde never could be my main, I loved her so much with her smile, but her 5 children grew up very good, to some beautiful sims.
Johanna had her birthday and is now an young adult.
Shortly after the birthday she has gotten the approval notice for the university and is now studying psychology.
With the children and husband out of the house all day, Luisa felt lonesome, so she had a adopted a cat.
His name is Fridolin.
He is a family-oriented cat and need much attention, Luisa is willing to take care of his needs, even if this means to interupt the painting session.
Well and she became interested in the occult. She had lost her mother when she was a baby and she tried to connect with her spirit, but until now she only could talk with other friendly ghosts and a ghost cat.
At the end of the year she had finished the last room.
Hans became more and more independent.
Oh and he fell in love with Margot Schwarz, a new girl he has met in school.
In 1935 I haven't made much pictures, because I did changes in the background sims families: killing sims, new marriages and new babies and built two new places in theses 8 sim days in preparation for the upcoming years.
So let's see what was happened, which is worth to mention.
Johanna
Johanna should have been studying hard in her first year on the university, but instead she has got distracted by a goodlooking young man, who used his charming skills on her. His names is Ralf Hegenbrecht, from a well-known and respected family.
He is my Don Lothario in this game.
So Johanna got pregnant and they were forced to marry, but she still wants to study.
Hedwig
Back to Germany, which is now be ruled under the brown dictatorship. She and Günther try to arrange with the regime and try to live as normal as possible, but the last 3 years weren't easy. Günther was forced to paint more classical paintings which were promoted by the regime because he didn't want to lose his job. Hedwig, official as a single mother, received a work ban because of her music choice. Jazz was very popular, but it wasn't welcomed by the regime. She was also threaten that her two boys would be taken away from her. Social pressure have forced her to register them to the youth organisation from the regime. The youth will be indoctrinated and should report everything which is forbidden, even when it's the own family.
But sometimes, late in the night when everybody sleeps, Hedwig is listening to her favourite music, very silent. Very careful that nobody will take notice of this.
You know what you could do, is after every year or just at random, you could do a random event like, (name) dies from (death) or (Name) just won (money) in the lottery. It would add a great level of randomness and fun to the challenge.
Year of the Sommer Olympic Games in Berlin. There were voices who demand a boycott from the USA for the rascist regime, but they were ignored and tricked out. The game were the perfect proganda for the regime. The man of the year was Jesse Owen, who had excited the berlin citizens with his winning of the 4 gold medals, much to the displeasure of the regime.
The first love of Hans, Margot, has dumped him.
Wilhelm received an invitation letter from Hedwig for the Olympic Games. Hans should visited the games, because Wilhelm was to busy with the hospital.
One last dinner and many tipps how to behave in the country.
Hans was living in Hedwigs home and she was happy that he came the long way.
Since 1936 every teenager was obliged to join the youth organisation, so the oldest son had accompanied Hans in his uniform. He was also the one who had introduce Annemarie, a girl from the neighborhood to Hans.
Together they have visited the games.
In 1936 Basketball became a olympic game. In lack of courts, basketball wasn't much known in Germany then, tennis courts were changed temporarily.
They have played together after the contests
During these days Hans and Annemarie came closer.
They had a good time together.
But every good time ends one day. Hans wanted to stay here the most, but Hedwig told him to travel back and told him about the nature of the regime.
Hans wasn't happy to go back to his parents far away from his new love (he went into the independed phase), and for worse he became an influenza.
Back at home, he just wanted to stay alone, he was desperate with his situation.
In my game I was busy with managing the background and side families, so I have completly forgot the time. Since Johanna was in her last year of the university I have played mostly her for this term and with fast-forwarding all the time, I was shocked when suddenly the year 1939 popped up as notification.
1937-1939
After the birth of her daughter Johanna was kicked out of the student accommodation. She has given her child to the father and his family but she wasn't allowed to return, she didn't got back the already paid money either. With the money of her in-laws she was able to rent a small apartment for the last university year, she finished the degree with a 1-.
She has got into a fight with the mascot from the rival university and won.
.
After the ceremony she packed her stuff, it wasn't much, and return to her small family and united with her daughter.
Meanwhile
Hans grew up to a young adult, he is now 18 years old and he went to university too, but it was not the same university like Johanna went to.
He was eager to learn as much as possible, but also make new friends and live the student life.
He even befriended with the man behind the mascot fight and tried to ease the tension between him and his sister.
(With the 1930s evil immersion I made jokes on him, how he could lose to a woman and he should practise more. But Hans has the correct trait, so the dialog was just in my mind, my Hans wouldn't say such things.)
But at the end of the term, he failed one course completely. It was a wake-up call for him and (for me too ) to take the university more serious.
First September 1939
In the morning he heard that a war between Germany and Poland broke out and he was worried about his
relatives in germany. The memories of the ww1 and the post-war time were still present through all families, there were no celebrations on the streets, the people took the news (the lie about the attack on the Sender Gleiwitz) with silence.
He discussed the news with his friend, they were glad to to live not there, but they were also worried about the situation, the politician usually send young men like them to war without any hesitation.
I apologize for not showing many pictures during the wartimes. As I mentioned in an other thread, I rarely get enough opportunities to make good pictures during the university gameplay and the game programming denied to me that the madeover sims stay long enough for playing a part in this story.
1940-1941
Hans keep studying in the university, now harder than ever.
Meanwhile the war continues around the world. I make and will do for every household a deathroll considered, but I can do it only during the weekend, after finishing Hans homework and other stuff, to hold the grades.
Right now for the german deathtoll I roll a 20 dice 1 - 6 means death, it doesn't matter if woman, man or child. I will deal with the surving soldiers as prisinors of war after the end of ww2 in a separate roll. Sometime only one sim died sometimes more, sometimes I just spare the child and send it to the orphanage. MCCC had produced so many new sims during the game session, it cost a lot of time to kill them, but these sims deserves a tombstone, but with time it's becoming depressive to watch it. When the war will come back to the aggressor, I will also do a deathroll to the remaining family.
During his last terms Hans finally enjoyed at least a little bit of the university life. Although Christmas was a little bit sad, when being alone.
A night he can't remember what was happened.
He wrote to his parents that he want to start his own life and won't move back to them.
And he has finished the University in 1943.
But during the ww2 the life for someone with an family background from an enemy state wasn't easy then. He was denied to get a better paid job, denied to join the allied forces (he could have been a spy / his deathrollnumber was 9) and has take every odd job which was available, with this he had already luck, it could have been worst. Later he found a part-time job as diving instructor.
He listened to the news about the war and the losses from the german forces in his tiny one room apartment
But his family helped and visited him whenever they can.
Now to the deathrolls.
I place this part in a spoiler for reasons. The dice was mean and it was depressing, but rule is rule. So don't look it, if you don't want.
The greater parts of the Kaufmann family have to mourn.
The oldest sister of Luisa Kaufmann, her son and both grandsons died, leaving only the daughter-in-law back alone.
(I made no picture, I was shocked, that part of the family had have always bad luck in this game.)
Lea Kaufmann, wife from Otto Kaufmann (youngest brother of Wilhelm) and mother of 5 children died.
Helene Kaufmann, wife of the late Karl Kaufmann (brother of Wilhelm) lost her daughter-in-law and grandson.
The other deathrolls I won't mention here, but they happened.
This update is going to be long, I think I will split this in two halfs and I will leave the pictures of the death rolls out, it's already depressing enough, but I'm happy that the war is over now and I will never have such rolls again for the rest of the challenge.
1944 - 1945 Part 1
The allied forces now brings the war back to the aggressor with the goal of the ultimate defeat, from all sides, which brought the regime and their loyalists to became more fanatic than they already were, while many unpolitical citizens just want to survive and desire the end of the war.
Some background story, just let it close if you don't want to read about it.
They have to "deal" with airstrikes on military, productions and civilian quarters, which was a tactic from the Britians to get the people stand up against the regime, unsuccessfully.
But some, just a few, nothing to compared to other countries, did stood up and helped the victims and risked their life for some humanity.
The families became divided because many young children were sent to safer places, in the late month the mother openly denied to send their children away. They didn't want to be apart when everything else was shattered around them. Juvenile children were forced to do military service as so called Flak helper and Volkssturm, which made them a primary target for the attacks from the allied forces. The civilians feared the wrath of the allied forced, quite rightly (stories from the refugees spread around, and were multiple by the regime), they knew what was happened in the countries although they did spoken almost to none about it.
What happened to Hans? Nothing else he could do as waiting. He sought the adventure and so he became a treasure hunter. His family was worried.
He searched in caves and went to Selvadora with his best friend for a year.
Far away from home, he has changed his appearance a little bit.
During his adventures he almost died from a poison but luckily he survived with the help of the Selvadorians.
At the end of the year he made some increditable discoveries.
And then it was time to say goodbye.
Back to his home he sold some photos to a magazine and has woken the interests of a news agency who asked him if he want to be a war photographer.
Hans (or better me) was shocked when he saw the bill for his adventure.
In 1945 he followed the western troops. Being a war photographer is highly risky and news agencies were always look for such brave photographer.
Here are some impressions Hans has made.
He has had also the change to visit his childhood home and met his uncle again, who barely recognize him.
He made a few pictures of ophans and lost children but these pictures broke his heart and he couldn't take more of them. Many were too young to remember their names. Until the middle of 1975 around a 1/4 million of the lost children were reunited with their families again, but the destiny of a few hundred remain unknown.
He returned home for a short while and with the beginning of may 1945 the war was over.
He wanted to return, help to rebuild as civic engineer and tried to convinced his parents for this idea, but they denied and warn him about the situation, which will be a desperate situation for the germans there. Indeed there was a lot of Arbitrariness during the first months and years of the occupation, and let many work hard in their job to forget what happened to them at this time period.
He received news from his aunt Hedwig, who has survived the war.
In the end Luisa and Wilhelm gave up and said goodbye to him.
He came to his aunt Hedwig, but the house was old and more and more things broke.
Living space were rare and people who had luck, were forced to host either unwelcomed refugees from the east or to host soldiers or were simply expelled.
And so he met Annemarie again, who has gotten shelter with her father at Hedwig's home after her apartment was destroyed. The romance bar was almost empty, but Annemarie was more than happy to see him again.
Yes they did this alone, without me, I smiled when I saw the woohoo in the closet, which turns out to me as a make a baby woohoo.
The first years under allied control council were hard in many ways and they faced many challenges: endless hunger everywhere in europe, bitter cold winter, lost of family members, millions of displaced people, millions of germans who were forced to leave their century old homeland, no living space available, production disassembly as war reparation and the looming cold war conflict between the west and the east. Dispute about the future economy.
At the end of 1945 the administrations were handover again to the germans who have now to deal with these problems. 1946 was the year of the Nuremberg trials where the main member of the old regime had to answer for their crimes, for whom a new category of crime was created, crime against humanity.
Because of the hunger many demonstrated, trees in the parks were cut down to make space for farming and produce charcoal, but it was not enough food for everyone. At june 1946 the firsts CARE-packages arrived in the american controlled zone, later the year in the british and french controlled zone too, which helped the people and eased the tensions between the germans and the occupiers a little bit. Their reputation among Germans rose further until then the victors were only nice to the children. At 1947 the german administration were told to start a new goverment to gain the independence again, which they had declined at first, very much to the surprise of the control council. The reason was the situation with the eastern territories and the future of economy control.
Well, Hans had a problem. Annemarie was pregnant.
It was the time were a father could have been face legal trouble and 5 years prison, when he would allowed the boyfriend to sleep over night at them.
Problem solved somehow . Hans and Annemary were engaged.
A marriage is an administrative act, which takes a few months.
But the big day arrived.
Just in time, because Annemarie went into labors.
Waiting ...
Welcome Holger, born in 1946.
Hans was very proud, things could not be going better.
If there was not the cramped house situation. The second son of Hedwig, Christian, was old enough to marry his girlfriend too. Meanwhile Hedwig was mourning this over the death of her oldest son during the last days of the war, and she became pregant too.
It was an ugly situation for everyone Annemarie and Hans weren't welcomed anymore (except by aunt Hedwig). Christian blamed Hans for everything, in particular for not fighting for germany and be look like a slacker.
As city builder, Hans was busy with with the new settlement and he was able to received a smal credit to buy on of these new homes. In 1947 and his little family moved out in to the new build neighborhood.
(yes, I have replaced the geneneric us-american surburban with the generic german surburban.)
Food hunting is still the job for Annemarie, who enjoyed the beauty of flowers for a moment.
Being self-sufficient was the order of the day, but thievery and black market trading was common too.
For women they were send back into to the middle ages again when they had to use the washing tub.
The welcome wagon has arrived.
Next to all her duties, she still had to raise her son.
She was exhausted many times, but as a proud woman she didn't complained, she wouldn't be heard anyways.
In 1947 she became pregnant again.
In 1947 they were visited by Wilhelm and Luisa who met Annemarie and her grandchild for the first time.
Bonus pictures. While I'm technically at the beginning of 1948, both already have the 1950 style, the picture looks like an advertisement for something, I love these.

Viktoria and Ludwig were going to visit Karl and his family. They said goodbuy to Hedwig who wished them a pleasent journey.
Viktoria and Ludwig waited for Karl, who wanted to pick up them from the trainstation.

Two different lifestyles
I don't have much too say about the year 1925. There weren't much which could be worth to tell about, it was a relatively seen normal year for this specifc decade. So here some pictures from Wilhelm and his family.
Wilhelm and his girls

Ingame I have reach the first day of 1929, so here is a summary of the years 1926 until 1928.
Elfriede became a teenager and have a lot of mood swings
Anna became more and more independent from her family. She like to dance a lot and likes to hear music, a truly child of the roaring twenties.
The shadow of the upcoming horrific future.
Anna enjoyed rollerblading, where she has met her first crush.
They went on a date, where she had her first kiss, Well it wasn't good in her opinion.
Isn't it cute, the red flush on both?
Elfriede, actually more a tomboy, tried out how to be a Lady.
Meanwhile Wilhelm is relaxing with his brother with a glass of wine and Luisa took a nap in the lounge chair.
> Hello fellow simmer,
>
> Originally I have started this challenge three months ago in July and I write about it in the 'What happened in your game today'-thread. But @MelsieYT asked me if the story is written down somewhere coherently, so I'm going to copy the story parts in here.
>
> My challenge is placed in Germany and I'm playing the legacy of the Kaufmann family with adapting the original rules, because I'm a german, so this history is more familiar to me than the american history. During the game I switch to the nice streamer StephKaycee deathroll-method (roll D20 after statistics), which made this challenge a bit more fair, but create less drama. If you don't know her yet, she plays on twitch her own decade challenge.
>
> At first I thought I wouldn't stay long enough on this challenge and I had my struggle in the world war 1, but I can't believe that' already 3 months gone.
>
> Then let me start:
>
> 1890
>
> The american rules forbid to start in San Myshuno, but for me it's essential for the story.
> It's 1890. A young and poor couple has move from the countryside to the big growing city. Ludwig and Viktoria Kaufmann, her marriage was arrange by their former squire, who let them go because of a bankruptcy.
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
>
I already love this family !
1929-1930
But at first a new family picture, made before the official portrait.
The stock market crash arrived in my game and the Great Depression hit Germany very hard and had the already know consequences.
Baby Christel liked the young architect Heinrich Köhler.
Heinrich aswell fell deeply in love with Anna. He was indirectly told what was happened and earnt slowly her trust.
They spent their free time together, avoiding to be seen by the family.
Unaware I left both alone to check after the other family members, when suddenly the proposal message popped up. Obviously Anna said yes.
Poor sleepy Christel got her present later.
We had a fire, the fire had no chance. In the end there were 6 family members with a fire extinguisher.
Scared by collecting seashell. Okay ?!
We had some unexpected guests.
During these days Hans and Annemarie came closer.
1937-1939
After the birth of her daughter Johanna was kicked out of the student accommodation. She has given her child to the father and his family but she wasn't allowed to return, she didn't got back the already paid money either. With the money of her in-laws she was able to rent a small apartment for the last university year, she finished the degree with a 1-.
.
After the ceremony she packed her stuff, it wasn't much, and return to her small family and united with her daughter.
Meanwhile
Hans grew up to a young adult, he is now 18 years old and he went to university too, but it was not the same university like Johanna went to.
He even befriended with the man behind the mascot fight and tried to ease the tension between him and his sister.
In the spoiler are a few pictures of the results.
During his last terms Hans finally enjoyed at least a little bit of the university life. Although Christmas was a little bit sad, when being alone.
A night he can't remember what was happened.
But his family helped and visited him whenever they can.
Now to the deathrolls.
I place this part in a spoiler for reasons. The dice was mean and it was depressing, but rule is rule. So don't look it, if you don't want.
Back to his home he sold some photos to a magazine and has woken the interests of a news agency who asked him if he want to be a war photographer.
to be continued ...
Yes they did this alone, without me, I smiled when I saw the woohoo in the closet, which turns out to me as a make a baby woohoo.
Rebuilding a new Germany.
Bonus pictures. While I'm technically at the beginning of 1948, both already have the 1950 style, the picture looks like an advertisement for something, I love these.
