Does anyone have a side by side of how the same tone looked on full graphics on a sim before and after the patch? I can see there's still issues but can't really judge what's changed
@Onverser I found this on twitter, this image might help!
@FlyingPotato659 unfortunately that image does not help, because comparing two low-res images will show blotchiness by default.
A comparison of uncompressed skin tones needs be done in hi-res or they shouldn’t tweet that nonsense at all.
ETA: I do want to note that I don’t have a twitter account. I just click on the image. So what I’m seeing may not be what a Twitter user is seeing. 🤔
I found one or two skins in game that looked deeper and richer in tone, and the braided hair I love it. I can't find the other updated hair, perhaps I'm not looking hard enough? Can somebody point me in the right direction?

I have a Twitter account and I can't see anything good or bad in that picture because of that resolution. If that's how the game looks to that user on the regular... they did say the update was for higher graphics settings than that so that comparison is still irrelevant. I'm on PC though, maybe it looks better on mobile.
@logion I don't see those splotches in my game, however, they're clear in your pictures and I can't see any difference between the before and after updates.
I wonder what December's update will be like? I'm expecting less now.

Some skin tones have less visible splotches, the one in the picture is one of the worst ones. I think how easy it is to see them can depend on your settings for color and brightness on your screen and maybe even your graphics card.
@logion thanks for the clear comparison. All I can see is that the area surrounding the lips seems to be smoother in the latest update, but the reddish patches around the nose and brow are visible in both. Only when you go up real close.
@logion Yes, thanks for the large comparison pics. I have not updated yet, I was going to take a pic before I did so I could see a before and after. I also use uncompressed texture settings by default. I never get up that close to my sims faces normally to really notice in game, but your pics definitely depicts the texture issue, especially between the eyes on the bridge of the nose. And it's apparent on both the before and after, so I'm not sure what exactly they fixed.
I did a before/after comparison of the nine darkest skin tones. The overall texture/tone of them has improved, it looks much smoother. The splotches are still there, but (somewhat) diminished.
@MDianaSims In your side by side screen shots I can tell a little better the differences.
While the splotchiness is still there, the tone is a little better. Especially on the top 2 dark ones, the update is a teeny tiny bit less "purple-ish" and warmer toned. Although the bottom one I think looked better before, now she looks a little bit like she is jaundiced.

Thank you so much for this. It really helped me see the changes. I see the improvement, but it is slight. I think they have a way to go yet to correct this. I hope that with color sliders we can get more realistic skin tones. Some of those still look bizarre and totally unnatural.
If you guys zoom close enough you will see the pixels!!! Wondering how you play this game as you get that close. I don't mind that skin is not perfect, it adds personality
What are guys seeing? I see highlights and shadows that give depth and shape to the face but not blotchiness. Your sim in the picture is beautiful.
For me, you have to zoom in a bit to see. There’s some weird spots, looks like the artists messed up in photoshop, or didn’t mix the pigment properly. It almost looks like they forgot to blend.
i think they said their doing it in phases so this might just be phase one.

I'm confused. What I shared was unclear but someone else shared a closer up image. It's helpful but there is still no difference?

Good eye, I see the differences more clearly now. The mouth looks better from what I can see.

I believe we are talking about two different things. The folks on Twitter shared that image to show that the actual skin tones are still the same, which is not really what this particular update was about. In this update the blotchiness was to be addressed. To be able to really compare before and afters they should have tweeted high res images of uncompressed skin tones, much like people in this thread did. That way one can make a fair comparison since there are indeed differences, albeit very minimal.
All I’m saying is that this twitter person sharing low quality images of something that needs to be viewed in high quality is not very helpful. Even when we’re talking about subtle colour differences. At least they got their 1.4k likes.

I guess I need my eyes checked.

Pictures from my PC (updated with Oct 6th patch)
you can right click these pictures and choose view image in most web browsers if you want to watch the full resolution.

I'm surprised the team hasn't addressed this yet...

yes but that after doing a lot of stuff to it my skin would look odd to if someone zoomed in and magnified it

I dont see the differences, but I cant help but notice the skintone on the male have 2 different color, the entire faces vs the mouth area
