I thought this might be a fun little way to make commentary on the game. I will start us off.
How is it that the cake in the very expensive refrigerator spoils, but the plates of the Grand Meal ham left out on the dining table for at least three Sim days, isn't spoiled?
Please join in and share the inconsistencies you have come across as you play this great game.

The main thing I notice that drives me nuts is that a parent will mourn the death of a child for the exact same amount as the person who they bought food from that one time they visited a festival.
I would like to see that amended in the game, too. For instance, you never get over the death of a loved one. Never. You just learn to move forward. Instead of just mourning for a set number of days, no matter who it was, perhaps the parent or child, or spouse could have the 'thinking about a family member' pop up more often as they move forward in their lives? I don't know about anyone else, but I think about both of my parents and my older brother whom we lost nearly 45 years ago.

I tell you there are days I wish I could teleport, then I wouldn't always have to take the stairs. Silly Sims.

I don't know, I play on Long. But, that's pretty insane.

You know, I never allow my Sims to even try the stuff. I suppose whoever was preparing the dish was quite a skilled chef. Or somebody over at EA doesn't understand odds.

I agree, that would come in handy some times.
Agreed. I think that they shouldn't mourn acquaintances at all, friends for maybe 6 Sim hours, good friends, for a day, best friends and extended family (aunts/uncles/cousins) 2 days, and close family (spouse, parents, grandparents, children, siblings) 3 Sim days.
After that, I think they should get the "think about Sim" for anyone family or good friends and up more often, accompanied by an emotion (maybe sad but could be sometimes sad and sometimes happy if they are remembering a good time with them or something) for an hour.
My male scientist was impregnated by an alien. His girlfriend, now wife, was super excited when the baby came along. She practically squeals when she sees him.

They should really update that, if I remember you could do that in all the games and sims never bat an eye about it. Like it could lead to some interesting moments
"I love my child, but why does he look like my best friend? Are those fangs?"
"Yeah he's staying late at work again. Oh that's your son? Huh he weirdly looks like my husban-"
How is it that it takes sims forever to do anything...for example it takes half an hour to use the restroom and ten minutes to walk up stairs or an hour to eat, but they can get all their sleep in all in 4 sim hours?
It seems to take forever, because the game-clock tends to run fast in my opinion.

Yes, Sims are supposed to be "smarter". Doesn't matter that they are deaf, dumb and basically blind when it comes to their partner's misdeeds. I agree, we wouldn't need so many mods to add drama, if our Sims would merely react to stuff most, if not all, of the time.

Yeah, those are some seriously rose-colored glasses. Of course, that's more true to real life than anyone would think.
Also who is Katrina Caliente? In the sims 2 Nina and Dina had a different mother in the family tree. Cassandra was the same age as Nina and Dina.
Why don't these things matchup?
TS4 is an alternate timeline from the previous generations.
They could make those deaths give them a special trait; like "Lost a Soulmate" or "Lost a Child". Maybe have it give them a strong sad moodlet every once in while?
It took me a good twenty years where I could go without breaking into tears on my late brother's birthday. I would be fine one minute, then in making out a check (writing the date) to realize it was his birthday, and suddenly not so fine. I like your suggestion. Already, our Sims have moments where they're thinking about a family member. A little tweaking of that would be nice. Not, that I want my Sims to walk around sad a lot, it's just like I said you never really get 'over' a death of someone you're particularly close to. The old adage of time heals all wounds, is a lie. You just have to suck it up and keep moving forward.
