@Sharonia so maybe just look it up in text form. Carl's guides are great for that. That way, for example, joining a secret society, you can read just until you find out how to join, but not until you ruin everything about being in them.
Rather breaks the he's always negagive and down on the sims line I see so often. Did give a lot of useful information that had not found yet. Looks like there's a lot to do, at least in robotics or computers. Watched Carl's general DU review right after, so don't remember which of them pointed it out, but it appears that TS2 is superior in letting you know how you are doing in class. One of the reviewers was surprised that was failing in a class and mentioned that finding out was difficult. In 2 there is an indicator bar that keeps you constantly current on your progress so you can plan your schedule to make sure you do enough work to pass or even get that spot on the Dean's List.
What I do wonder is how much of this carries over to the game as a whole. Example, can a regular sim buy one of those robot stations and make robots as they learn the skills? Can a sim still do however much of this stuff once graduated? If a sim has made various robots and servo(s), do they come along when a sim moves into a regular residence after graduation? If it doesn't enrich gameplay in general it's still just a game pack, if an expensive one.
This basically confirmed what I thought from the start. He spent like 5 minutes talking about the actual classes and noted that the things he found most enjoyable were all of the side activities that have nothing to do with schooling. I'm glad I didn't waste money on it.
Classes are very boring, and if you tried to do 4 classes per semester, it would be just your sim sitting at a desk, doing classwork 4 times, then going back to the dorm, sitting at a desk, doing home work 4 times, eat, sleep, go to class again. Is that really gameplay?
I figure it's "Discover University" not "Discover Attending Lectures".

First of all I have to say, I love this pack! Haven't had this much fun with TS4 in a long while. It really gives the college feel. I don't even want her to finish college and go back to the same old gameplay. I have a couple of questions tho, I hope someone can help.
I have locked the door to my dormroom, except for me and my roomate. People are still coming in, whats that about? I'm not even sure who my roomate is, cause different people sleep in the bed every night. Also, is there a way for more than one household member to join college at the same time?
This thread is extremely helpful, thank you so much for combining so many scattered pieces of information. I'm buying the pack but will definitely bookmark the conversation for future reference. Well done, friends!
